21.01.2022 Okay, I’m sure this might sound counterintuitive, or just some crafty use of wording, but as confusing as it may seem, it’s about as true as it gets. The stuff... everyone is so worried about sharing with their dogs, because they’re afraid it’s going to kill their spirit, cause them to dislike you, or the most common...make the dog unhappy...are actually the exact same things that create a far more relaxed, included, and happier dog. Dogs that are well-behaved, reliable, polite, safe, and a pleasure to be around, have much bigger lives. It’s simple stuff. Good dogs get to enjoy more life, bad dogs enjoy less. And how do we go about gifting our dogs with a bigger world and a bigger life? Through the stuff you least want to share. Rules, discipline, structure, accountability. The hard stuff creates the opportunity for the great stuff. As long as owners resist being leaders, as long as owners are too afraid they’ll hurt their dog’s feelings, as long as owners prioritize what feels good for them rather than what does good for their dogs, the cycle of dysfunctional human/dog relationships will continue. And dogs lives will get smaller and smaller.

07.01.2022 You can be the fun one, you can be the good cop, but just remember you’re doing that for you, and that personal pleasure of never having to be the heavy comes at the expense of those who depend on you to do better. Better is both.

Betting your dog’s safety, or life, as well as other dogs or people’s safety/life/peace of mind on hope is a terrible strategy, which often has terrible results.
