18.01.2022 Saying goodbye after a walk is so hard!! Mish & Bud’s pic was taken after this week’s walk...Snowy & Oscar’s pic is from many moons ago. It’s just as hard for us humans to leave our pups as it is for them to see us go

17.01.2022 We heard the very sad news yesterday that one of Dogs on the Run’s very first pooches, the loveable black lab, Brax, had unexpectedly crossed over the rainbow bridge. We know how devastating the sudden loss of Brax has been for his human family, but our heart also breaks for Brax’s doggie sister, Millie, who will no doubt be pining today for her best mate. We scrolled through literally thousands of our pics, and we hope the few we have chosen goes some way to show Brax’s larg...er than life personality. As for our special memories, long-term followers of our page may remember The Great Chip hunt, which began with Millie & Brax and, due to its popularity, carried on for many more months with several of our other pooches being willing participants! As for me, I’ll never forget Brax’s disappearing Houdini act, which caused a few anxious hours for both me and his poor worried mum, Tash. To this day, I still don’t know how he managed to get into that locked garage, right in front of my eyes. Some things are meant to remain a mystery! Brax may be gone, but he’ll never be forgotten. Run free, beautiful boy See more

09.01.2022 I’m sure our Canberra doggie friends will be very familiar with the story of Franklin, the Gungahlin maremma sheepdog (if not, google, and be amazed by his truly extraordinary story!). Franklin’s carers have posted this pic of him with the news he’s not well and is currently at the vet where they’re trying to find out what’s up. We wish him a speedy recovery because he is one heck of a special pooch. Just as an aside...way before we had even heard of him, Barb and I were walk...ing a couple of labs in Bonner and, as we approached a street corner, we heard a dog barking from across the road. We looked up and saw a large white dog looking at us. It wasn’t a friendly bark, so we stayed on our side of the road and continued on our merry way. It was only when stories about Franklin started popping up on facey and in the Canberra Times that we joined the dots and realised the dog we had seen would have definitely been Franklin, guarding his patch. Go well, Franklin...all our paws are crossed See more

07.01.2022 We love nothing better than a good doggie story with a happy ending, and we reckon this one’s a corker! The story started back in July last year when Barb and I were asked whether we could help a friend rehome an elderly pooch called Icy. We wrote a post and, within 24 hours, Icy had a new owner, and a new name, Hunny! Hunny’s new owners were previous clients of ours, so we knew she had well and truly landed on her paws and found her fur-ever home. And, as the pics show, Hunn...y has spend the past 12 months living and sleeping in luxury! What the pics don’t show though, is Hunny’s growing media profile, which included an appearance on The Project last night! Hunny’s humans are two of the 100 or so Canberrans who have been stranded in NE Victoria waiting for the NSW government to give permission for them to travel through NSW on their way home to Canberra. Well, the good news is that the week-long stalemate has finally been resolved and Hunny and her humans will be returning to Canberra tomorrow. Hunny probably doesn’t realise what all the fuss was about as she moves from one luxurious bed to another, but we’ll be glad to see everyone back home safe and sound! Go well, Hunny, we reckon you’re a National Treasure See more

07.01.2022 Jackson came into our lives just over five years ago and, very sadly, crossed over the rainbow bridge yesterday. Cancer had taken hold and his mum made the heartbreaking decision to put him to sleep. I’m still trying to come to terms with knowing I’ll never see him again. Barb and I started walking Jackson not long after we launched Dogs on the Run, and even though we closed the business last year, I continued to walk him on a regular basis. He’s featured many times on our pa...ge over the years, so no doubt some of these pics will look familiar! We had many memorable moments with Jackson...how could we forget his first visit to the vet in eight years (such was his fear of anything veterinarian, his mum wasn’t able to get him through the front door!), plus helping work on his aggression issues with other dogs, which eventually meant he could visit dog parks and safely mingle with other dogs. Jackson was a rescue dog, and absolutely landed on his paws with his wonderful mum, Karen. He was a wonderful, intelligent, fiercely independent, loyal and loving pooch, and he will be greatly missed. RIP Jackson
