We give our Love and Solidarity to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities we create and collaborate with, acknowledging the 60,000+ years cultural legacy of the Original Storytellers. Sovereignty Never Ceded. Always was, always will be. As the Independent sector in the state known as Queensland, we are made up of exceptional creatives who are the core of every critical and crucial role required to imagine, create and deliver artistic experiences to our communities. We are essential to the success of every major company, festival and event. We belong to a thriving artistic ecosystem that is inter-generational, collaborative and innovative, built on relationships and connection and vested in equity, inclusion and safety. Financially stretched, with many working from home, project to project and without operational funding, it is our robust creativity and support for one another that has seen us through challenges - including the current COVID19 pandemic. We recognise those of us who are settlers benefit greatly from the continuing colonisation of the First Nations people and lands we create art on. We stand in Active Solidarity with the Custodians of the Lands and the Black Creative Community who are central to our artistic ecosystem. We are not interested in performative allyship. We are deeply committed to examining and activating our roles as accomplice to address violence, racism, oppression, and discrimination, addressing our own biases to dismantle white supremacy in Queensland's artistic landscape and beyond. 11.01.2022 you danced naked in front of strangers, elsewhere screams came from artists ... and the audience didn't sit, they walked through art ... and slowly lost their minds. This is no comfortable sideshow, this is no sentimental charade ... this is the end of civilization. You wandered till the ticket became meaningless and the way home disappeared ... now you are here. You know you want to weep so deeply that your childhood frees its screams ... don't say art ... unless you mean revolution.
