25.01.2022 #humpday #projectdog #mustlovedogs If you're already feeling 'hump day' imagine how 18 month old Winnie is feeling - she's spent a third of her short life in our care and needs someone experienced to give her a break. Winnie is not even a teenager yet has had the worst possible start. She came to us pregnant at 12 months and the vet suspected it was not her first litter (WOT!! ) So you might excuse her for being a bit dark on life.... But Winnie is such a loving girl once she feels safe with you and you'll find it hard to wipe the smile off your face when you see her stumpy little tail waggling like crazy! She is quite reserved with strangers and does not present well at the kennel front. Suitable new owners are going to have to look past the tough-girl act. We have found when she is introduced slowly and at her pace, she becomes a little ray of sunshine in no time - we do feel that it may be hard for her to accept a home with lots of new visitors on a regular basis, so this needs to be kept in mind. Although Winnie came from a multi-dog household, the length of time here has left her feeling unsure and unhappy being around about dogs. Due to her stress in kennel, she isn't enjoying meeting other dogs and this is going to be a 'work-in-progress' for her once she settles into her new home and can finally relax. Winnie will need quiet walks away from dog-populated areas (so no parks or beaches). Her foster carer described her as being an intelligent and affectionate dog who will learn quickly with the right effort and lots of positive/ consistent training provided. Because Winnie is unsure of new people, she's best suited to an adult only home or one with older teens in her home. She would be suited to being the only pet for the moment (although had a successful meet with a calmer older cat some months ago - this might be a possibility). If you're ready to help a dog, who really got a bum deal, to become a confident, loving and loyal companion and are an experienced dog owner, we'd love to introduce you to Winnie. Come on Facebook friends, let's make Winnie's hump day a happy day! #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog

24.01.2022 #regionalrescue #weloveourvollies #PostNewspaper Big thanks to the POST Newspapers for running this great little story about all the regional trips weve been doing these last few weeks. Thanks also to our amazing vollies Sophie, Dusty, Debbie and Jono for driving to collect these special pooches in need.... An amazing community enables us to do what we do - thanks to everyone including those who adopt or foster these beauties.

24.01.2022 #inthedoghouse #doghouse #FestiveFundraiser Only FOUR days to go until our friends go In The Doghouse to raise much-needed funds for our homeless dogs! We are pleased to welcome back Jarrad Tate, a Doghouse regular who will be joined by his son, 7-year-old Chase. And we are thrilled to announce that Tate Family Foundation will once again be matching Doghouse donations up to $25,000. We're only about $800 away from our target!... Tate Family Foundation are now into their eighth year of supporting this event with a matched giving pledge. That’s $175,000 donated to In the Doghouse! >>>https://bit.ly/38Lakak In the last financial year we helped unite over 1400 dogs with thousands of new owners. From 8-week-old puppies to 16-year-old ‘Lady’, who has gone on to live some of the best months of her life with a special couple who are committed to adopting senior dogs. Despite COVID-19 and all its restrictions and confusions, we kept our motors running and made more trips ‘up north’ and ‘down south’ than ever before. Since January we’ve collected 220 dogs and pups from Geraldton and 39 from Bunbury. Big thanks to our amazing volunteers who give up their time to make rescue missions and to our anon donor whose gift of a new Hyundai iLoad means we now have two vans on the road. So every donation makes a difference to getting our work done! A donation to In the Doghouse will contribute to supporting the dogs that comes into our care in 2021. No amount is too large or small and all will be matched up to the first $25,000. >>>https://bit.ly/38Lakak We understand it’s been a tough year and we are very grateful to all our dog-lovin’ supporters. If you can, please donate today so we can raise the vital funds we need to continue to save and re-home unwanted dogs across WA. Please check out the page and see who else is In the Doghouse for our dogs this year. https://bit.ly/38Lakak #rescueisthebestbreed #dogsofperth #rescuedog #dogsrefugehome

24.01.2022 #Kitty #MixedBreed #Handsome #NeedsRescuing THE SWEETEST BOY NEEDS A LOVING HOME Woof! I'm Kitty....bet that's a bit confusing, hey?... Anyways, I'm a 2-year-old MALE mixed breed doggo and I'm in need of a loving family to scoop me up, take me home and tell me everything is going to be ok. I'm a sensitive boy, so I'm going to need nurturing hoomans who aren't afraid to slow things down and give me time to adjust. When I first meet new people, I'm kinda nervous, but if you give me time, I'll be SMOTHERING you with kisses! P.S. I LOVE affection :D I'm a polite and well-behaved boy and I LOVE making new doggy friends. I'd really love to go home with another dog because then I'd have a companion all the time....we could play and share our life stories...Oh my lord, it would be soooo good! If I can't find another suitable doggo match, I'd need to find a home with part-time workers as I'm not loving the idea of staying home alone for extended periods of time. I have lived with kids in the past, so I think slightly older kids would be ok as long as they know how to go slowly with me and don't overwhelm me too much. I have also lived with cats (for only a few days) but they were scared of me...not sure what I did wrong! So, if you wanna give a sensitive, new aged dog a home, please come and see me at 30 Lemnos st, Shenton Park! Love always, Kitty xo #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinstaa

24.01.2022 #Posie #AmericanStaffy #HappyGirl #Loving #SpecialHome RING-A-RING-A ROSIE, A POCKET FULL OF POSIES Let us introduce you to our gorgeous Posie.... Posie is a 1.5-year-old female American Staffy X, who has had a bit of a tough life and just wants to move out of her kennel and into a loving home. Posie came to us in July this year, pregnant after she had been used for breeding and she has been with us ever since :( Posie is such a loving girl once she feels safe with you and you'll find it hard to wipe the smile off your face when you see her stumpy little tail waggling like crazy! She is quite reserved with strangers due to her past, but we have found that if she is introduced slowly and at her pace, she becomes a little ray of sunshine in no time - we do feel that it may be hard for her to accept a home with lots of new visitors on a regular basis, so this needs to be kept in mind. Although our Posie gal has lived in a multi-dog household before, the stress and anxiety of her current situation has left her feeling unsure about life and, well...dogs. Due to her stress in kennel, she isn't enjoying meeting other dogs and this is going to be a work-in-progress for her once she settles into her new home and can finally relax. Posie will need quiet walks away from dog-populated areas (so no parks or beaches at this stage). Posie is keen to make her 'hoomans' happy and is quite polite and knows basic obedience skills, but extra positive training wouldn't hurt and would help her bond with her 'hoomans' too. Because Posie is quite unsure of new people, we think she's best suited to older teens in her home. Lastly, this lady has met a calm cat and she was very well-behaved, so there is potential for her to share her home with a feline friend. To meet Posie, please come to 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park between 11am - 3pm daily. Please note: Posie can be a bit scared of visitors to the front of her kennel, but she is completely different once she meets you away from her kennel. #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinstaa

23.01.2022 #KodaMilo #BondedPair #twopeasinapod #Loving MEET KODA AND MILO ** Adopted 15/11/2020 ** Introducing Koda and Milo, our gorgeous bonded pair!... Koda (female) and Milo (male) are both 3-years-old and they're both Rotti X Staffy. This bonded pair are looking for a new loving home big enough for the both of them. These two are very happy, playful and affectionate and they can't wait to settle into their new lives! Koda loves chasing toys around and then getting chased by her brother Milo and she also loves a splash to cool off after playtime and she's hoping her new backyard will feature her very own shell pool for the summer. Both dogs have been good making new doggy friends in the past, however they are big and strong dogs and will prefer well-mannered pooches to befriend. Koda and Milo have lived with children in the past and could share their home with kids again, providing they are gentle and appropriate with these dogs These two delightful doggos MUST be allowed inside with their family as this is what they are used to. Koda & Milo have big, loving hearts and will make amazing new family members. To apply, please visit: https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinstaa

23.01.2022 #Kyzer #Mastiff #bigdogs Meet our big Mastiff X Kyzer who is only 2.5 years old but has had to bare several litters and some difficult times. She is now searching for a stable and forever home to call her own. Kyzer had not been socialised with other dogs and so this is going to be a challenge for a new owner. She will require training and support to have doggy friends and this may not possible - so a new owner needs to be aware and willing to work and manage her.... But at home and with vollies she is lovely and craves human affection and attention. She loves her cuddles and spending time with you. She must be able to be around you where ever you are as she is a true and loyal mate. She would sleep with you if you let her and this would be ideal, however she is a big girl. Kyzer has limited experience around kids and there is no knowledge of her exposure to cats. She could go to a home with dog-savvy teens or tweens pending meeting but may ideally suit a couple or single (has recently being living with a female owner) with time to devote to her. She is looking for someone who is able to handle her strength and put some time into training her with other dogs, or managing this on going. Open Sunday from 11am t0 4pm and Kyzer will be one of 20+ dogs on our adoption floor. #rescuedog #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed

22.01.2022 #CheekyChief #Mastiff #SpecialSenior Introducing our new resident gentle giant Chief. This adorable 8yr old Mastiff is a very special senior who has come all the way from Denmark looking for his new home in the big City.... Chief is a lovely polite boy who knows basic obedience cues, loves people and will easy engaged with you and loves to play with a soccer or tennis ball. He also loves good cuddle and attention in his chill time. Chief has good manners around other dogs and makes friends easily here although we haven't had any small dogs to test him with. Chief could live with full time workers and kids 10+ - he has previously lived with kids ad is great with them but not keen on cats or chooks. We are hoping for an owner who is experienced in larger breeds. If you love big boof heads and can’t resist this face then chief could be the one for you. #rescueisthebestbreed #adoptdontshop

22.01.2022 #ZandLoco #BondedPair #BestFriends #GiveaPairaHome BEST FRIENDS NEED HOME TOGETHER Meet our BEAUTIFUL bonded pair, Z and Loco!... Z is a 5-year-old male and Loco is a 5-year-old female American Staffy X and these two beauties are looking for a home together. Z and Loco were surrendered into our care by their owners who did not have the time these precious pooches crave. They havent had a lot of experience with the outside world, so will need new owners who are experienced dog handlers and want to help them learn, grow and experience what life has to offer. These two doggos are very sweet and lots of fun. They have a very strong bond with each other and really love being in each others company. Previously, they havent had a lot of exercise so they are a both a little bit overweight - especially Z! So, this time around they are going to need active owners who enjoy getting out of the house each day to get some sunshine and walk off all of those schmackos! Loco is more chilled-out around other dogs and doesnt seem too interested in other canines - she will happily waltz on by looking for the next shrub to sniff, whereas Z is more reactive. This is because they were both lacking socialisation for quite some time. Going forward, Z will need some help from a professional trainer with his dog socialisation, and it may be best to allow Loco to socialise with other dogs (with slow and controlled meets) without Z - this is to help Loco maintain her more chilled-out approach to dogs, whilst not feeding off Zs energy. Both Z and Loco are used to being around kids and could live with children around 8-years-old - again, its always important that children are respectful and gentle with the dogs in their household. If youve been thinking about adopting a pair, please consider Z and Loco - they are a delightful duo that will bring so much love and joy to wherever they go! 21.01.2022 #ChristmasGifts #GoneToTheDogs #MakeADifference #merrydogmas CHRISTMAS GIFTS THAT SAVE DOGS Christmas time and gift shopping can get a little crazy, but if you've got dog-loving friends and family, we've got you covered!... This year we have our $25, $50 and $100 "Your gift has gone to the dogs" donation cards available for purchase. They're pawfect for those family members and friends who already have everything, and the best part is that they help us to continue to care for and rehome homeless dogs in Western Australia, and makes a big difference in helping us to meet our annual operating costs in a year, that let's face it - it's been tough! For 85 years we have relied on the generosity of the WA community to keep our shelter open and it's no different today. You might think $25 makes 'no difference' but it all adds up. It's quick, easy and all profits go straight to our very deserving pooches... It's as easy as: 1. Head to our website --> https://bit.ly/37x4V3E 2. Select from the dropdown box what amount you'd like to donate 3. Select whether you'd like a physical card mailed out to you or a digital download certificate that can be printed from the comfort of your home. It's as easy as that! Please help us spread the word by sharing this post PS If you're still organising gifts for clients, then forget the wine and food hampers - purchase a voucher instead and you'll both know your gift is making a difference to a homeless hound. If you would like more information or to donate a different denomination please email [email protected] and we can organise something for you! #HelpAHomelessHound #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinsta

20.01.2022 #Sassy #adoptme Beautiful Sassy came to us via our regional rescue partners in Geraldton to find herself a forever home. She is a big girl with an even bigger heart! She has the most striking coat and is an 18 month old mixed large breed. Sassy absolutely loves people if they introduce themselves correctly. She can get overwhelmed with big and sudden movements. She accepts and loves scratches and attention all over. Her foster carer reported that she can be clingy, following... them around the home and not wanting to be far away unless she was asleep. She is very energetic, enjoys doing zoomies around the home and playing with her toys. On walks, she is incredibly strong, so she must go to owners who can physically and confidently handle her. She has had very little in the way of training, so new owners must be dedicated to working with her on this, from basic obedience to reactivity towards other dogs. Sassy has coped well being left alone for 2-4 hours in foster, it is unknown how she will cope for longer periods. Part time/casual/stay at home workers only to allow her to settle in. She has such big potential to be a wonderful companion. She just needs the right owners who can commit time and energy to support her through training and be patient enough to help her succeed. Might suit a home with teens or tweens - bit jumpy and with her size (28kg) she'll be too big for younger children. Sassy is just one of the beauties waiting to meet you at 30 Lemnos Street, Shenton Park - open today from 11am to 4pm - closed Labor Day Public Holiday on Monday. #rescuedog #rescueisthebestbreed #adoptdontshop #bigdogsofinstagram

20.01.2022 #IncludeaCharity #Legacy #Kindness #Bequest As we wrap up Include a Charity In Your Will Week, wed like to highlight Sonia Guinan, one of our very dear friends, who has enabled us to build a brand new kennel block named after her late rescue dog, Honey. Back in 2016 Sonia Guinan sadly passed away. Sonia was a passionate dog lover whose commitment to caring for dogs in need knew no bounds. Sonia and her late husband Ron emigrated from the UK many years ago and founded MayDay... Rescue in 1983 when they saw the desperate plight of unwanted and neglected dogs in Perth. MayDay dogs were either looked after in foster homes or transferred to us to be re-homed. We are so incredibly honoured that Sonia decided to remember us in her Will and her legacy will never be forgotten. We are now in the process of having Honeys Haven built, which will be a comfortable home for many dogs as they patiently wait to be adopted. Gifts in Wills help to secure our future, maintain and upgrade our ageing facilities and ensure hundreds of dogs, both now and in the future, will benefit from your love and kindness. 19.01.2022 #adoptionsuccess #pupdates Don't we all love to hear a happy tail and here's a lovely story from proud new pawrent Lisa who adopted Clark in September. He looks like he's livin' the life now! Hi DRH Just writing to give you an update on Milo (was Clark) who I adopted in September.... He has been an amazing addition to my family and he has settled in so well. We had some initial teething problems where he bonded so well with me I couldn't leave him alone as he had some separation anxiety, but he's gradually worked out that his humans always come back and he's now happy to chill outside and sun himself and watch the world go by (and dig the odd hole!). Milo has such a beautiful temperament and loves meeting and licking everyone on his walks and he's great with other dogs. He tends to charm everyone he meets on our walks. He's an absolute sweetheart and has slotted into life with my son and I so easily. He's even slowly winning over the cat, one minute they are snuggling together on the couch, the next he's chasing her round the house trying to round her up! Some days she likes him, others not so much! He loves walks with his doggy buddies, especially sniffy walks and he has made friends at the dog park where he enjoys his zoomies and he also has a ball at doggy daycare once a week (He sleeps well that night!). This year has been a bit of a struggle for me, but Milo has added so much joy and companionship already in the short time he's been with us. He's a total lapdog and loves to snuggle up besides me on the couch each night and curls up on my bed (I think he lasted one week sleeping next to my bed before I caved in and said what the hell up you come ). Thank you so much for the amazing work that all your volunteers do to rescue and rehome these amazing dogs. I am especially grateful to whoever it was who took the long drive to Carnarvon and back to rescue him and give him the chance of a new life. Thank you DRH!! #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #dogsrefugehome

19.01.2022 #terrifictessa #playfulpooch #prettygirl Our big beautiful Tessa is a very pretty girl who is looking for a new home that suits her needs. She was surrendered as her new owners work circumstances have changed are she was no longer getting the attention she desperately craved.... She has lived with kids and is very sweet but she was outside only and is a little boisterous so our trainers are recommending kids 13+ She is only 10months old and a Mastiff x Staffy - is very friendly and super playful, still quite young with lots to learn from a committed owner who has previous experiences with big, strong dogs. Tessa can make doggy friends but she lacks manners due to inexperience and can get frustrated when seeing dogs at a distance when out which will need training. She will need lots of activity and mental enrichment provided day to day at home to help her adjust to her new life plus 1 hours exercise a day. Tessa has a big heart and will make a wonderful new family member ideally her new owners will only work part time to help settle her in. This gorgeous Mastiff x Staffy is spending the day in our office getting the attention she deserves please consider this special pooch. #rescueisthebestbreed #adoptme #adoptdontshop

18.01.2022 #sundayfeels #pupdate #mysuccessstory It was very exciting to open the inbox this morning to a wonderful message and story from former Dogs Refuge Home volunteer and Border member Natalie (Nat) with her pupdate on Rusty Rustbucket, the rustiest red Kelpie this side of the rabbit proof fence . Rusty has certainly been livin the life with Nat and is a well travelled pooch. Adopted in late 2011, Rusty has been on many adventures with his Mum all over the South-West, Great So...uthern and Goldfields in Kenny the 4WD and Dolly their cute little caravan! Nat she could have written double on Rustys story (and we could have included double the photos from this fun lovin fur family). Enjoy this Sunday night tail of adoption success .... thanks Nat! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was volunteering at the DRH when I was asked in mid 2011 to take Rusty (Rustbucket) home to give him a break. He was stressing so much in the kennels that he was dehydrated. I took him home regularly for a couple of months and he followed me everywhere, he was so beautiful. When his adoption fell thru I couldnt cope with the idea of him staying in the kennels any longer. I spoke to the trainer about his needs and adopted him. He was so easy to train, just wanted to please me. Late 2014 we moved to Boyup Brook in the South West and love living in a small country town with bush trails all around. Weve made lots of friends with other dogs and their owners. When we first moved to town everyone knew me as "that lovely red dogs owner", more people knew him than me! Two years ago I took on a friends old girl Jess (when my friend had to move to England to look after her mum). Jess was a lovely old girl but could be very cranky with other dogs. While they had their differences, they got on pretty well overall and Rusty missed her terribly after she passed mid-2019. In late 2019 I met a young failed farm dog who seemed perfect for Rusty so George Dagwood joined our family when he was five months old. They are silly for each other and Rusty has trained George and is ridiculously patient with him. They play and stir each other up and run around like loons. Its fabulous fun to watch them together. We have walks in the bush a few times a week, regular playdates with other dogs and go camping every couple of months and I take my boys everywhere I can. Ive built obstacles around my yard for the boys to have a course to run around and am currently building a fort (aka my partner is building the fort) for them to be able to climb and see over the fence to watch the sheep in the paddock behind us. I love my boys more than anything, they are my greatest commitment. PS If you see Kenny, Dolly, Rusty, George and Nat on your travels be sure to say Gday! #rescueisthebestbreed #adoptionupdate #rescuedog #kelpiesofinstagram #kelpie

18.01.2022 #Elsa #Frozen #Cattledog #Sweet #Stressed CAN YOU HELP STRESSED OUT ELSA? Meet our gorgeous but very stressed lady, Elsa. Shes a two-year-old female Cattledog X.... Queen Elsa is here to melt your heart! Elsa is a lovely, affectionate girl with a lot of energy. A country girl at heart, this little lady is still adjusting to city life. Elsa would suit an active household who have a lot of time to spend with her. This girl would really benefit from training and exercise, as she is a high energy girl. She would thrive in an experienced and calm home and would be best suited to older kids in the home Elsa will need time to settle in the new home, therefore a family who is home more often than not would be perfect for her. She could have doggy friends outside of the home, but she prefers to be your one and only pooch in the home. Elsa seems quite playful with other dogs, but will still require slow and appropriate meet and greets when meeting new dogs. Wed love to see Elsa find a home sooner rather than later - she is very stressed here and just wants to relax and unwind in her new home <3 To apply for Elsa, please visit: https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinsta

18.01.2022 #kalgoorliespecials #chillispups #puppyparadise Introducing our adorable pups who have travelled all the way from Kalgoorlie with their mum Chilli. They have just turned 8 weeks of age and are ready to leave the nest. We have them as medium mixed breed, maybe American Bulldog x in there somewhere. Sadly this whole litter havent had the best start in life and have a few abnormalities including face asymmetries, hip issues and skin issues. Our vets have assessed them all and t...hey are currently enjoying being bathed regularly and getting lots of TLC. Snickers, Bluey, Bingo, Calypso, Marcus and Judo are all eating well and playing normally and are bright and alert and (as is shown in these pics) they are all super cute. These special needs pups do need to be monitored as they grow as there may be some abnormalities as they develop. If you have a big heart and are keen to give one of these special little darlings the chance they so deserve of a loving home please complete our adoption questionnaire and indicate that you are interest in one of our Kalgoorlie pups. #rescueisthebestbreed #adoptdontshop

18.01.2022 #pupdate #adoptionsuccess #ItMustBeLove Sugar and spice and all things Nutmeg in this every happy pupdate. Young Nutmeg (now 18 months) arrived in our care in early October after perfecting her escape skills on her first owners. She was also shy and fearful and in desperate need of an understanding and patient home where she could be a member of the family. Well as you can see, Nutmeg has found her pawfect home and is enjoying being a part of family life. Wonder if she was sn...eaking the Monopoly money under her paws? Here's a lovely message from new owner Tess .... Hi DRH, I thought I would send through an update on my girl Nutmeg. My partner and I adopted her over a month ago, we saw her in the kennel and just knew it was meant to be. She took a little bit of time to come out of her shell but she’s gained so much confidence in the last month! She’s worked hard to learn how to interact better with other dogs and was able to play with her cousin Tom (kelpie x) at Christmas. She enjoys two 5km bush walks a day and spends most of her day curled on the couch or enjoying her kong. She’s the most beautiful, polite and cuddly dog, everyone who meets her falls in love. Thank you so much for your guidance when we adopted her, we’ve still got some work to do but she’s made such great progress we are so proud. 18.01.2022 #inthedoghouse #doghouse #FestiveFundraiser They're not in trouble, but they are still going In the Doghouse to help our dogs out on Sunday 6th December, for our final fundraiser of the year! We are pleased to welcome back Jarrad Tate, a Doghouse regular who will be joined by his son, 7-year-old Chase. And we are thrilled to announce that Tate Family Foundation will once again be matching Doghouse donations up to $25,000. ... Please check out the page and see who else is In the Doghouse for our dogs this year. https://bit.ly/38Lakak PS - these puppies are no longer in the doghouse and have all gone on to their forever home. #rescueisthebestbreed #dogsofperth #rescuedog #dogsrefugehome

18.01.2022 #Klyde #Staffy #RhodesianRidgeback #SMoochy #Loving Hiya Im Klyde, nice to meet you! Im a 4.5-year-old male Rhodesian Ridgeback X Staffy...and you guessed it, Im looking for a home.... Im a hopeless romantic. I like nice dinners with my hoomans, cuddles and smooches and I love to be petted while I gaze into my hoomans dreamy eyes. I live for hoomans. You guys and gals are just the best! I am a bit sad that Im here though and i honestly cant wait to find my hooman soulmates Im very well-behaved and just want to make you smile. If you adopt me, my mission will be to make you smile every single day. If youve had a tough day in the office, Ill wiggle my bum and wagg my tail to make you feel better. If youre heartbroken, Ill lick away your tears...Ill do whatever it takes to make you happy ...and I hope you can return the favour too Im a bit unsure about some dogs, so Its best to make sure that any meets are done slowly and in a controlled environment, only after I have settled in properly and formed a strong bond with you...thats most important I have never lived with kids before, so I think its best if I find an adult home. Im open to older teens though Lastly, Id really, really love a home where I can have company as much as possible. Im a real people-person kinda dog, and love being around hoomans. If youd like to give me my happily ever after, please apply here --> https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ Love always, Klyde xo #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinsta

17.01.2022 #Chipper #LargeBreed #Gorgeous #SpecialHome CHIPPER IS LOOKING FOR ANOTHER CANINE FRIEND Hello there Perth peeps.... Im Chipper...but you probably already know this because Ive been on the facebooks a few times already. Im a 1.5-year-old male large mixed breed, and i havent had much luck finding a home Ive sadly been rehomed a few times, but Im yet to find the ONE. I suffer from generalised anxiety, so Im going to need a special home with hoomans who are patient and loving. I really enjoy meeting other doggos and I think having a doggo sibling (preferably a female) would do wonders for my anxiety Im looking for a home with a lovely yard that I can frolic in. Up in the Perth hills would be my dream come true, but Im open to other ideas too. I really need someone who is home a lot. I do stress out when Im left alone, so perhaps you work from home? Im a very loving and SMART boy. I pick things up very quickly and all I want is to hear you say "good boiiii Chipper". I love being inside as much as I love playing in the yard, so I will need a home where Im allowed to be inside with you Lastly, Im looking for a home with adults only. Children kind of make my anxiety worse. If youd like to give me a chance, please fill out your application here --> https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinsta

17.01.2022 #Betty #AmericanStaffy #Sweet #HappyGirl #QuietHome BETTY JUST WANTS TO BE LOVED Check out our resident cutie, Betty!... Betty is a 1.5-year-old female American Staffy X, who hasnt had much luck in life...yet! She is a wonderfully sweet lady, who just wants to curl up next to her hooman and sun bake, watch you read a book...or do whatever it is you do whilst relaxing! Betty has been adopted a few times and returned - she finds new experiences quite daunting and we feel she is best suited to a quiet home without a lot of people visiting initially. She needs someone who can slowly introduce her to new things in life because we think shes previously (before she came to us originally) lived a sheltered life. Once Betty feels safe with you, she is the sweetest little Staffy! She looks at you with adoring eyes and just wants to be close to you <3 Betty is gentle and loving and she seems to like the company of other polite and gentle dogs - but she isnt going to like every dog she meets, so its very important that you take things slowly with her when doing meets. Watch her body language and make sure both dogs are happy. We think she would benefit from sharing her home with another dog, but theyd need to be the pawfect match. Because Betty needs to adjust in this world, kids will be too much for her at this stage. She needs experienced owners who are willing to put her needs first this time around. If youd like to give this beautiful lady a home, please apply for her here --> https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinsta

17.01.2022 #makeJallyjolly #adoptme #sweetboy ** on hold for a wonderful experienced owner - pending a cat test tomorrow - fingers crossed! ** Our adorable Jally was a sad surrender as her owner is now moving with work.... Jally is a very sweet and intelligent 7yr old Belgian Shepherd who is in search of her new home. She is sensitive and requires a very quiet home environment where she can feel safe and secure whilst forming a strong bond with her people. Jally is a bit nervous of new things and strange people but with a gentle, rewarding approach she is easily won over. She is best suited for experienced dog owners who are somewhat familiar or is knowledgeable of the breed. In the right home Jally will for sure make a very loving and loyal companion. She certainly didnt enjoy the loud wind last night (like most dogs) so our lovely vollie Dionne took her to our lounge room KOKOs for a quiet snooze this morning and she relaxed straight away. Were looking for part time workers to help her settle in and older kids she has been around young kids before but ideally a quite home as her life has just been changed dramatically so she will need lots of quiet TLC. Jally has been taken to the park previously and reportedly gets on with some dogs and ignores others. She can be nervous of new people particularly males so she will probably be best with a female owner or a very gentle male who can give her space and work on the relationship through rewards based training. A quiet home environment where she can relax and feel secure in imperative. Shes good on lead and very smart and will benefit reward based gentle guidance from her people. We are hoping someone who is familiar with her breed and with dog experience will fall in love with this sweetheart as we have. #rescueisthebestbreed #adoptdontshop

16.01.2022 #Pupdate #AdoptionSuccess #Moto #heartwarming MOTO'S NEW LIFE Check out this lovely update from Moto's new pawrents, Jenna and Ryan <3... Moto came to our Home in October and Jenna and Ryan adopted him at the end of October and he has been with them for a month and they can't imagine life without him now. Moto's new life 'moto' is "Zoomie like nobody's watching, love like you've never been hurt and borrrk like nobody can hear you". ________________________________ Hi DRH, Moto is a beautiful well-mannered dog who has adapted to his new life well. He has made many doggie friends and even has a girlfriend named Ceta (who also happens to be a blue staffy). He loves human interaction of any size (including children). Night time you’ll usually find him snuggled up on the couch with Dad watching TV and sleep time is always right next to Dad’s side of the bed. 5.30am each morning comes around and he’s by Mum's bed ready for walk time. He enjoys twice daily walks and road trips in the car, wherever Mum & Dad are able to take him he is there. Moto is a very easy going dog but still battles with his anxiety outdoors, of which he is currently under a training program for. He is very well loved and has become an important member of our family. Thank you for allowing up to adopt him! Thank you Jenna & Ryan #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinstaa

16.01.2022 #Khaki #LargeBreed #Boisterous #giveadogahome MEET KHAKI...THE LIFE OF THE PAWTY Hey, hi, hello!... Im Khaki and Im a two-year-old male large mixed breed doggo. Im the life of the pawty! You know...the dude at pawties whos had too much punch and thinks hes good at dancing...yeah, thats me! Im motivated, excitable and ready for adventure and I want to discover the world with YOU, my new friend for life! If you tell me to sit Im probably going to look off into space and think about monkeys playing cymbals whilst the Benny Hill theme song plays in the background...BUT I really want to learn new things...no one has shown me this stuff before and thats why its SO impawtant I find a loving home where I can be taught this stuff...because, you know, if you dont know, you dont know! Im super PUMPED to meet other dogs, but again, no one has shown me how to politely meet pooches, so I just run straight in there and want to be their BFF within .5 of a second...and this could be too much for some dogs. I really do have loads of pawtential, I just need you to guide me :-) Because I need my owners to focus on me and because I still have some manners to learn, Im not going to be suitable for kids - im just not ready for that yet. Lastly, Im sorry about my photo...I really wanted to look dapper, but Ive just had the ol snip-n-chip and I have to look like a lampshade for a few days ...the most handsome lampshade youve ever seen, though Anyways, if you want to adopt me (YIPPPPEEEEE!) then dont delay, fill out the application here ---> https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ Hope we can meet soon! 16.01.2022 #sundaynightvibes #pupdate Well after a hectic weekend of dog adoptions and some sad surrenders and rescue missions, let's enjoy another fabulous pupdate from Angela and their big baby Digger! Seems he is living up to his name but as Angela says, the holes in the garden pale against the love Digger has brought to the family. He's Digger's pupdate ... So after reading (and crying) the post from "Ben" now Morty. I thought l would share Bill's now Digger's update.... We named Bill Digger and oh my goodness has he lived up to his name. And he proudly runs and slides into his latest "dig" when we arrive home smiling with love that melts your heart. You can't possibly stay angry. He has placed his mark "teeth" on most of our furniture. So we adopted on Mother's Day 2020 and what a wonderful present he has been to not only me, but all my family. He was part of the family from when he first arrived. He is my shadow and absolutely loves doing chores with me and then enjoying a well-earned nap (happens often). He loves his older (grumpy) brother who insists on sleeping with him even though Digger is almost three times his size. Digger has found our old cat a bit hard to get on with, but they are learning to live together. We would not want all the perfect gardens and unmarked furniture in the world if it meant we didn't have our Digger. He absolutely adores each member of our family in a way that suits them. He squeezes my hubby and l out of the bed at night coz he needs space, but still wants human contact. He still loves his very little much older brother Shorty and still gets swipes on the nose from the grumpy old cat. Digger loves a good tug of war which is where our oldest son comes in. Being almost 40kgs now and all strength, it's hard to play with him but he can also be the gentlest baby. Digger loves nothing more than lying next to mum and having a chill. I honestly believe Digger came to us just at the right time. As l type this Digger is curled up on my lap fast asleep and my life feels complete. #Adoption_post #adoptionsuccess #rescueisthebestbreed

15.01.2022 #Marley #TongueOutTuesday #Staffy #Kelpie Happy Tongue Out Tuesday! Meet our gorgeous 10-month-old male Staffy X Kelpie, Marley S.... Marley S is a typical young pup, who's going to need some guidance and TLC. He's super smart, so he's going to benefit from mental enrichment and training, which will also help him bond with his new family <3 Marley can live with kids, but he's best suited to kids over 10 at this stage. An active lifestyle is what Marley is after. He loves anything active and will require around 1.5 hours of exercise each day. Lastly, Marley is a bit unsure of other dogs right now. He's been quite stressed and it appears that he hasn't had much socialisation in the past, so his new owners will need to work on this gradually, at his own pace. To enquire about Marley S, please come and visit him at 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park. #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinstaa #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinstaa

Im always trying to smile, have fun and get AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE to any hooman I can <3 I love to sun bake in fields of flowers and I love to play fetch and go on long sniffy walks. Im quite a polite boy and enjoy meeting other doggos - as long as theyre friendly and polite too. I could eventually go to a dog park, but you need to bond with me and get to know me properly first. Im looking for a home with a lovely family...maybe you have kids and thats fine, but I am a bit jumpy when Im excited, so slightly older kids are a bit better for me <3 Im hoping to find active owners who love getting outside for daily walks and adventures! Id love to see Perth with you because I was originally from Carnarvon, so I havent seen any of Perth yet! 13.01.2022 #Buddy #Staffy #SpecialHome #FriendlyBoy #Infoster BUDDY IS STILL PATIENTLY WAITING FOR A HOME Good morning Facebook land!... My name is Buddy but you can call me Bud, Budster, Buddy-Boiii or bestest doggy in the whole wide world....I answer to all 5! I'm a five-year-old male Staffy X and I'm currently in foster care. A few weeks ago the Refuge discovered that I had a few tumours after I was surrendered, so I went into the Vet and they were removed. I feel a lot happier now, but the Doc said to me that there could be a chance they could come back in the future...there's just no knowing with these sorts of things. So, anyways I'm not going to dwell on it or worry about something that may not happen...but I do need my new pawtential hoomans to know that this so that they are somewhat prepared if they do come back. Ok, onto the good stuff now... My friends describe me as happy-go-lucky, polite, respectful and very friendly. I love to meet new hoomans and also get quite excited about meeting other dogs - sometimes too excited, so my new hoomans need to ease me into new doggy friendships socialising me regularly and in a more chilled way will help me manage my excitement, which will then make it less hectic for other dogs who see me bolt towards them ready to play bow (apparently some dogs don't like this???). In the home, I'm a totes happy, sooky and well-behaved boy. I love my cuddle time and I LOVE a nice, soft bed. I could live with full-time workers, but it's SO important you make time for me when you're home...after all, I spend the whole day just waiting for you to walk through that front door...which is literally the moment in my day that I'm most excited about I can be a little jumpy at times, so I feel like older kids would be a better match for me....perhaps over 10-years-old? There is also a possibility of me living with another cool female pooch, but we'd need to be the right match So, if you'd like to give a handsome lil' Staffy a home, please apply for me here ---> https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ Love always Your friend Budster #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinsta

13.01.2022 #Ralph #nocatsallowed #BigDog #Staffy #catahoulasofinstagram Meet Ralph. He's a big boy! He's 4.5 years old and Staffy / Catahoula cross. He sits on the scale at around 40kg! He's a big hound seeking big hound lovers! So poor Ralph was returned because over a period of months he had started to fixate on the family cat. After seeking advice and consulting a trainer, his sad new owners decided Ralph needed to find a new home before kitty came to any harm. So we are now looking ...for a home with NO CATS and ideally no other small furry animals including birds. His owners described Ralph as being gentle, friendly and intelligent. He likes walks and stimulating games and once he has had his daily enrichment he will find a nice spot in the sun for a snooze. Ralph can entertainment himself if you are out, but he does love companionship and will light up when he sees you. In his recent home Ralph was spending 2-4 hours alone each day so might be best for part time workers or where someone is in and out during the day. Ralph loves interacting with kids of a certain size and age. Ideally those who have hit double-digits and are confident around big dogs. He loves to zoom around the yard and will make a very playful companion in the right home. Due to his size and impulses when out, Ralph is strong on lead and needs a bit of work going forward with his on leash skills. However, he is very eager to learn and please his humans. Ralph can make doggy friends with the right introduction and matchups and might even suit living with another gentle medium-large dog to help him develop his doggy skills. So if you are seeking a big adult dog to introduce to your home then Ralph is certainly worth a look. He's a lovely boy with a few quirks ... but don't we all! To apply for Ralph, please visit: https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #adoptme #bigdogs

11.01.2022 #Ken #Heeler #SweetBoy #Shy #Loving SENSITVE, LOVING AND LOOKING FOR A FRESH START - MEET KEN! Good morning friends,... My name is Ken and Im a 1-year-old male Heeler X. Im a quirky looking boy whos travelled all the way from Geraldton to find my perfect home. Im quite a shy soul, so these last few weeks have been a lot for me to deal with :( I jumped in a van and ended up here...which, in hindsight was damn lucky because I could have ended up anywhere...Im just so thankful I get this second chance. Once I come out of my shell, IM SO LOVING....like, all I want to do is be your best friend and love you forever and always <3 I just need you to go slowly with me to begin with :-) Ive got basic obedience skills, but theres always room to learn more I say! Im part working breed, so Im a very smart boy and Im eager to learn and make you the proudest dog Ma or Pa ever <3 I havent really experienced much of the outside world, so its all been a bit daunting for me, but I did meet a few lovely female pooches at the Refuge, and whilst it took me a moment to feel safe, It wasnt long before i was bounding around like a lil pupster trying to play! I think I need nice and slow intros to new dogs and I need time to bond with my hoomans first before Im introduced to new canine friends. There is a possibility that I could live with a calm female pooch, but wed need to meet first to make sure theres sparks :-) The Refuge asked me if Id like to live with kids, and if Im being honest with you, Ive not have any experience with children. Given my circumstances and the fact that I havent really experienced much yet, I think teenagers would be best. As i mentioned, Im quite shy and kids might make me retreat into my shell...and I dont want that to happen...I want to live life to the fullest now If you have a cosy home and lots of love to give, Id really be forever grateful if youd consider adopting me....Im so looking forward to what the future has in store for me <3 To apply to adopt me, please visit: https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ I hope we can meet soon <3 Love always, Ken #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinsta

10.01.2022 Meet Big Bazza. Hes one of those dogs that life keeps throwing lemons and hes trying hard to make lemonade. Hes a five year old brindle boy who is a Mastiff/ Staffy Cross and while he looks like a hard nut, Bazza has a soft heart and loves everyone he gets the chance to meet. But yes, he is a strong and powerful dog and is going to be best suited owners who love big dogs and have owned them previously. He has good social skills with other large dogs and may well suit g...oing to a home with a calm, gentle similar-sized female. Bazza is very stressed at the moment having experienced much upheaval in recent months (probably longer) and is looking for TLC and a quiet, calm place to call his forever home. With his size and and stress levels, we really feel a child-free home will best or a small household with single parent and and an older teen/s, a couple who love big dogs and the quiet life or a single seeking a loyal companion for bush walks and movie nights! You will need to be strong to manage this boy on lead until you settle into a rhythm and he bonds with you and builds up trust. Bazza loves a good sniffy walk and ideally getting out for 2 x 30 mins breaks in a quiet area would do him good. So if you can provide stability, positive guidance and have a kind heart to match Big Bazzas, please get in touch and lets help this boy finally get the lemonade and good-times flowing. #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #rescueme

10.01.2022 #irresistibleindi #adoptme Our darling Indi is a young 1yr old staffy x who came all the way from Carnarvon hoping for her 2nd chance. She was adopted through another rescue but was a bit too strong for her owner so she hitched a ride on our last trip up there and is now at our Home patiently waiting for her new owner to find her.... Indi is a sweet and affectionate girl who is eager to please her people. She struggles with some anxious behaviours when overstimulated and is looking for a very calm home environment where she can be spoilt. Indi will do well provided with lots of companionship at home, mental enrichment activities provided frequently as well as gentle guidance. She will bond very strongly with her new family once settled into her new home. We are hoping for part-time / work from home and experienced dog owners as Indi is strong on the lead and is reactive to cars/dogs when out walking so walking at night or early morning would be best. She did arrive with a leg/spine issue which causes her to skip a little as she walks so low intensity exercises are best where she can sniff and explore. Indi is hoping her big brown eyes will melt you and looks forward to meeting you soon. #rescueisthebestbreed #adoptdontshop

09.01.2022 Meet super gorgeous 10-month-old male Staffy X Kelpie, Marley S. Marley S is a typical young pup, who's going to need some guidance and TLC. He's super smart, so he's going to benefit from mental enrichment and training, which will also help him bond with his new family Marley can live with kids, but he's best suited to kids over 10 at this stage.... An active lifestyle is what Marley is after. He loves anything active and will require around 1.5 hours of exercise each day. Marley can be choosy with dog friends and lacks socialisation skills. New owners will need to work on slow introductions with other dogs. To enquire about Marley S, please come and visit him at 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park. #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #Marleymymate

09.01.2022 ** ADOPTED *** Hello Handsome! It's Craytos again, international doggo of mystery and patron saint of homeless dogs. We've decided to make him our patron saint since he's been homeless for so long he's becoming an expert. Yes, Craytos is a long term resident. He is a 4 years and 11 months old - how good would it be to bite into a birthday cake for his 5th birthday in a home of his own?... Craytos has had a rocky time trying to find that pawfect match. Sadly he has been in and out of homes, but is now seeking that committed, experienced owner who will make him part of their family and lifestyle. He can be an anxious boy who takes time to trust. But once he is won over he becomes very happy, eager, affectionate and quite the playful pooch. Craytos has made some new doggy friends since he has been here and is getting used to dogs of all sizes. He's not keen on dogs bigger than himself and will need continued careful meetings with other dogs. He does like having a walking partner so would be ideal if you have friends with polite dogs who you can meet and socialise with. We are seeking a patient home who will give him time to settle in and understand his quirks as well as recognising the situations which cause him to become uncomfortable. A quiet home environment with adults only is the best option for him. Craytos bonds strongly with his special humans and is a very loyal doggo. Open Sunday from 11am to 4pm but closed Monday for the Labor Day holiday. #rescuedog #rescueisthebestbreed #handsomehound

09.01.2022 #Indi #Staffy #Sweet #ExperiencedOwner OUR INDI GAL NEEDS YOU Hey frenzzzz!... My name is Indi and Im a one-year-old female Staffy X. I originally came from Carnarvon, but Ive made the trip to Perth in hopes of finding a very special hooman who can help give me some guidance and show me unconditional love. At the moment, I tend to get a bit distracted by everyday life things....WOW! did you see that bird!??? ooops...I did it again :-P Im just not used to all of these things, so I need a hooman who is happy to take things slowly with me and help me get used to everyday life...like cars and stuff...you know? I get a little bit too excited at times, BUT in saying that, Its not hard to calm me down - always practise calm and zen behaviour around me and Ill try to mimic it as best as I can :-) Im going to need an adult household, but could possibly live with one teenager. Younger kids aint going to happen, Im sorry...theyre just too much. At the moment, Im not great with other dogs. To be honest, I know very little about other pooches and I dont know how to greet them, if theyll like me and vice verser - I guess you can say Im socially awkward and this is going to need some work with a trainer going forward. Im young and eager to learn though, I just need a committed hooman who wants to help me progress :-) Im not perfect...but who is??? Im just so desperate to find someone who doesnt mind a bit of training and I promise you I will make it up to you for the rest of my time on earth <3 Alrighty, if youd like to enquire about me, please click here --> https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ Paws forever, Indi #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinsta

08.01.2022 #specialtwo #seniordogs *** Adopted 15/11/2020 *** Dear Facebook Friends Today we need your help to find this special pair of senior dogs a new forever home. It's a sad state of affairs to be homeless at 10 and 14 years. For Coco (Poodle x) aged 14.5 years and Toby (Kelpie/ Rotti) aged 10 years it's become a reality. They've been with us since 26th October so it's going to take a special effort to find a compassion home to adopt two seniors in the twilight of their lives. The...y are delightful duo and are winning lots of hearts with our staff and volunteers. They are easy to walk, friendly and just love to have lots of affection and playtime with people. Especially Toby who you can see is still partial to some balltime! Toby & Coco are well and truly bonded and can't be split since it's apparent they stress and fret when apart - having lost their pawrents, they don't want to loose each other. Their humans sadly separated and the owner who took 'custody' has become very sick and surrendered them to us. No judgements - it's now about find the best and most loving home we can. They will do best in a calm, predictable environment as Coco is deaf and they are both older pooches. They have not lived with children or had much experience with them but teenagers who can be respectful of their space while they settle in could be good (especially if they doggy cuddles). They are good meeting new dogs although Toby can be uncertain about dogs of similar size or bigger. Both have some age-related medical that you would expect and this will be discussed and disclosed with potential owners. We understand they are different sizes and will have differing needs with exercise, but they have one common need: a loving home where they can spend their twilight years together. Ideally we are seeking a senior couple or similar to take them on and provide lots of attention, affection and support to settle into a new routine. Yes, they would cope with fulltime workers, but wouldn't it be nice if they could spend their time following humans around who are home during the day? We are open to walk in visitors now but also like to receive your typed adoption questionnaires online if possible. If you have not adopted previously, all the info on how we do it is here: https://www.dogshome.org.au/the-adoption-process/ Please share and help us find this special pair a home this weekend. #rescueisthebestbreed #secondhcances

06.01.2022 #BigBazza # Mastiff #adoptme Starting our Sunday with our gorgeous big Bazza! A 5yr old magic Mastiff. He is a strong powerful boy with a big soft heart who loves everybody. ... Bazza will need a physically strong person to hande him as he loves a good walk and to explore and sniff. He must go to people who are experienced in large breeds. His social skills around other dogs is fine if introduced correctly. Bazza is a gentle giant who loves to sleep and loves being indoors and chilling next to you, he also loves to roll in the grass sunbath too! Bazza could also fit in with full timers. He is in foster with one of our fabulous foster carers who adores him. He is currently living in a quiet household and settled in very quickly. He has two 30min walks a day which is more than enough for him then turns into a couch potato at home and by all reports he is very well toilet trained. His foster carer describes Bazza as a gentle giant with a beautiful nature. If you think Bazza could be the one for you complete our online application form. We open at 11am today so can discuss him further with anyone interested but he is on foster so not in kennels but if we think you’re a good match we can organise for him to come in for a meet. #rescueistehbestbreed @adoptdontshop

06.01.2022 #delightfulduo #rottiesrule #twoarebetterthanone We are all very surprised that our adorable Grizzly & Tory are still with us. These two lovely dogs are a bonded pair, they are Rotti x’s and are looking for a new home they can share together. They were surrendered as their owner sadly passed away and family were unable to take them.... They had been living with their owner who was home most of the time, so we are looking for stay at home or part time workers for these two. They are well mannered pooches but are a bit unsure of everything at the moment however they have been quickly becoming more confident with everything and now showing playful and eager personalities. Grizzly is 3yrs old and a happy boy - knows some cool basic obedience tricks, can make new doggy friends with ease and loves to be spoilt. Tory is a bit older (9yrs old) and unsure, but she is very affectionate and playful once her confidence grows. She presents as unsure of other dogs but will slowly make friends given the right set up and introduction following Grizzly's lead. These two enjoy their walks, playtime and keeping each other company. Teenagers may be suitable to live with Grizzly & Tory. They will make devoted new family members once settled into their new home together. Our trainers suggest older kids 13+ Please consider giving this delightful duo a new home #rescueisthebestbreed #adoptdontshop

05.01.2022 17 DOGS ADOPTED LAST WEEK! Welcome back to another Monday night adoption post <3 Last week we had 17 pooches leave the building, ready to start a new chapter of their lives.... We are so delighted to share that a long-term foster dog, Zoe, was adopted by her wonderful foster carers over the weekend. Zoe came to our shelter in January 2019 with some major skin issues, which were making her very uncomfortable. Not long after her arrival, she went into foster care with Jake and Hannah, who have been diligently looking after miss Zoe for over a year. They had been taking her to her vet appointments, making sure she was having her special baths to help soothe her skin and were looking after her ears to make sure they werent inflamed. Were so happy that Zoe gets to spend the rest of her days with the people she loves the most <3 A big thanks to Jake and Hannah for their dedicated care towards Zoe...we cant wait to hear about her adventures going forward! Dogs adopted last week: Buddy S Frankie Baxter Elsa Norbit Maya Chilli Morgan Marcus Bluey Betty Mooks & Mossimo Bingo Dexter Zoe Rajesh Thanks everyone! <3

05.01.2022 #Kooda #staffyspecial #adoptme Introducing our new big boofa Kooda! This boy is supper good looking and he knows it. He arrived from Geraldton last week fortunately he was already up to date with his vaccinations so as soon as he was sterilised and behaviour assessed we made him available for adoption which is great as hes got lots of energy and was desperate to get out of quarantine and spend some time exercising with our volunteers.... Kooda will win your heart with his cheeky looks and good cuddles. He is an athletic boy who loves a good run, hikes with his favourite people and getting out and about to explore the world. He could be a great companion for anyone looking for a new fitness buddy. Kooda loves his humans and he will greet you with full body wag and face licks. He could fit in with a family with older teens, a couple or be a best friend for a single person. Our trainers recommend part time workers at the moment as he is quite stressed and will need time to decompress and settle in. Kooda really needs owners experienced in powerful breeds as he can be strong and pulls on the lead when stressed. He will also need time to calm and settle in his new home before introducing him to other appropriate dogs. He is not suitable at the moment for busy parks , that will be too stressful for Kooda. If you think you can give this big strong boy the home he needs please complete our online application form kennel life isnt for him so we hope to find him his perfect home very soon. #rescueisthebestbreed #adoptdontshop

05.01.2022 #Zeus #AmericanStaffy #BeautifulBoy #Gentle ZEUS IS SUCH A PRECIOUS SOUL Hi there,... Im Zeus...Im a three-year-old American Staffy X and I came here from City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder where the lovely rangers took me in and then organised for Dogs Home to collect me so I could have a second chance at a happy life <3 Firstly, Im a very gentle and loving boy and I just want to be loved :-) I dont remember much of my past, but I do squint and duck my head when people go near my head, so its possible Ive been treated harshly in the past :( I still love hoomans though, regardless! Just go slowly with me please <3 Seriously, I have SO MUCH LOVE to give...its endless and I cant wait to find a hooman who can receive all of my loves Ive met a few dogs and Ive been a good boy, but the dogs that I met were very friendly and polite - Im not sure i would have the same reaction to rude and in-your-face dogs, so Its important that Im always introduced to polite dogs, on lead and slowly. I LOVE my toys - tennis balls, sticks, rope toys...any toys! I can show you my toy collection if you like????? Im sure youll love it just as much as me!!! Ill show you how to fetch a tennis ball with your mouth! Its so much fun :-D oh yeah, I have a joke for you...whats brown and sticky??? .... A STICK! haha. Im looking for a home with adults and possibly even kids - I think kids over 8 would be great, but they need to be gentle with me. If you would like to give me the best gift in the world...a loving home, please apply for me here --> https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ I hope we can meet soon! Love, Zeus xoxo #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinsta

04.01.2022 #twoarebetterthanone #dynamicduo #staffyspecial Narla & Simba are two absolutely lovely dogs who are hoping for a home they can share together. They rely on each other for confidence and are super loving towards their people once they become comfortable. Both need a gentle rewarding approach to their guidance and training as they settle in with their new family. ... Narla & Simba will bond strongly with their new family and make an awesome doggy duo! They travelled from Geraldton as their owner needed to travel and were sadly no longer able to look after them. Simba (tan) is 2.5yrs and seems to have been harshly treated in the past as he cowers if you raise your hand so will need very gentle treatment. Narla (black) is 1.5yrs and is more confident, good with kids but doesn’t like cats. Our trainers feel both dogs could cope on their own if needed but we’re hoping for a home where they can be together. Ideally older gentle children 13+ If they have each other they will cope with full time workers so long as they are given time to settle in #rescueisthebestbreed #adoptdontshop

03.01.2022 #Zuri #Mastiff #LovelyLady #Strong #ExperiencedOwners PRETTY ZURI NEEDS A HOME Check out this big, beautiful gal!... This floofer is named Zuri and shes a six-year-old female Mastiff X, who is in need of dog-savvy owners to come and rescue her and show her the good life. Zuri is always smiling and generally a happy gal, but she has been quite stressed (understandably) in the shelter environment. Zuri is looking for a calm and chilled-out household because when she stresses out, she can become hard to manage...and shes not a little pooch! Sometimes we think she forgets shes a 41kg dog! This gal has loads of love to give and just wants to be close to her humans. We feel that she could be a bit dependent on her humans and given that she does stress out sometimes, shes best suited to a home where there will be someone home with her more often than not. Zuri is quite picky with her doggy friends. Whilst she was happy to meet one of our dogs, she was less than impressed with another pooch, so its very important that her new owners are experienced with bigger breeds and understand how to assess her body language in these situations. She wont be suitable for a dog park or beach, but shed love serene walks in the bush or somewhere similar and less populated. Zuri knows some basic obedience commands and she is totally food obsessed, so its likely to be easier to train her and help her learn new things. Because of Miss Zuris size, she is going to need an adult household but may be suitable for older teens as long as they are used to bigger breeds. If youd like to give this gorgeous and very loving girl a home, please apply for her here -> https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinsta

03.01.2022 #thankyou #kidsanddogs Quick shout out this morning to young Aiden Perrin who did a school project where he made lots of toys for our dogs. There are rope toys and tennis balls with holes for treats for enrichment toys. ... Our darling Violet inspected the toys and gave them the big tick of approval. Big thank you to Aiden - its so heartwarming to see our kids supporting rescue dogs. And thanks to everyone who donates to our Home and our dogs - we have had lots of puppy pads donated after our last post which is VERY much appreciated!

02.01.2022 #hakunamatata #simba Hakuna Matata...My name is Simba and I am a 2 year 8 month old medium mixed breed male. I hitched a ride from Geraldton in November last year and have been at the Refuge awaiting my forever home. Will you be my forever people? I am a social boy and would do well in a home with a female dog companion. I can be a little shy around new people but grow in confidence fairly quickly with the right encouragement and love. This means I am better suited to a home ...where people can devote some time to me with training and exercise and where there are no young children. I may be named after a lion but I am more the cowardly lion than the confident one with new people. Please pick me and given a little time we will be best buddies, cuddling and romping around.

02.01.2022 #Mezuki #Kelpie #Funloving #Active MEZUKI IS LOOKING FOR A HOME Hi friends!... I'm Mezuki...so great to meet you! I'm a 1-year-old male Kelpie X and I'm here to make your life soooo much better...if you let me? I LOVE to have fun! Running, playing, sniffing...all of the good stuff. I'm a friendly boy and I love making doggy friends, so I LOVE going to doggy beaches and being able to stretch the ole' legs and play with other doggos. Being a Kelpie, I'm pretty darn smart and I wanna be able to use my biiig brains for something good...like mental enrichment toys, agility or something equally as fun and rewarding! The most important thing for me is that I find an active family. As much as I love a good cuddle-fest on the couch...I cannot become a couch potato....mmm potato...I like potato. I think I'm best suited to a home with slightly older kids. They just need to be gentle with me and understand us doggos <3 Whilst I'm settling into my new home, I'm going to be best suited to part-time workers, who can gradually build me up to staying home for longer periods when needed...Full-time workers may be ok, if you have the time to settle me in properly initially :) Alrighty, dinner time! If you'd like to adopt me, please come and visit me at 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park. Paws truly, Mezuki #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinstaa

02.01.2022 #Angel #BlueHeeler #Purebred #SpecialHome SEMI-RURAL HOME NEEDED Oh hello there...... My name is Angel and I'm a 2.5-year-old female Blue Heeler. I'm a working breed and I'm really not coping in kennels at the moment :( I've got generalised anxiety and the 'hustle and bustle' of city life is making me very unsure of everything...especially hearing traffic all the time...I just really want some peace and quiet. I'm a very sweet girl, I just need some time to get used to things in life and receive some reassurance because life gets a bit overwhelming for me at times. I'm a polite gal and I love meeting other dogs! I could live with another dog, but we'd need to be a perfect match because of my insecurities <3 I have lived with kids before, so I'm happy to share my home with slightly older kids again...10+ would be the best match for me and they'd need to be gentle with me please :) I'm hoping to find a home where I can receive lots of attention. I'm not sure if I'd cope with full-time workers at this stage, so part-timers would be nice...I'd also love to be able to sleep inside because this is what i'm used to and where I feel safest <3 If you'd like to adopt me, please visit me at 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park from 11am -3pm daily or complete an application here ---> https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ #dogsrefugehome #dogsofperth #rescueisthebestbreed #rescuedog #AdoptDontShop #dogsofinstaa

01.01.2022 #Marley #Staffy #FriendlyBoy #Loving #Brindle G'day peeps! I'm Marley, and I'm a 4.5-year-old male Staffy X.... My story begun when I was left in the pound and collected by the Dogs' Refuge Home to begin my journey of self-discovery and finding a new life. I was actually adopted quite quickly but was returned because I wasn't settling into my new home :( So, this time around, I'd like to find hoomans who are willing to give me time to settle and who can nurture me and help me grow <3 I'm a very friendly boy and I have pretty good manners...I might just need some fine tuning, but nothing too drastic :) I LOVE my hoomans and can't wait to finally feel like I'm part of a family. speaking of family, I could pawtentially share my home with kids, but I prefer kids over 10, please. I'm quite a social boy and enjoy meeting other friendly dogs, but its always important to introduce me slowly as I can get a bit overwhelmed at times. I think I could also live with another dog, providing we're a good match. If you're able to give me a home, please visit: https://www.dogshome.org.au/adoption-questionnaire/ or come and visit me at 30 Lemnos St, Shenton Park from 11am - 3pm daily. Chat soon!
