25.01.2022 I would like to thank Gunna Go caravan park and camping ground, just north of Proserpine, for coming on board with camping sites for the "Doin it for the Drought" crew. It is greatly appreciated.

25.01.2022 Well the impact of Covid has been greater than one would have thought. The date for the Cape York trip will now be in May 2021, the actual date will be decided once we have seen what the wet season is like. I will keep everyone posted on this page and by email. Thank you all for your patience. Tony Fallows

25.01.2022 My name is Tony Fallows, I live and work in Gladstone Queensland, and I have travelled the remote areas of Australia for many years. I have seen the country in both good times and bad, but nothing like what is, and has been happening for some years. On hearing of the plight of farmers suffering from the drought, through a longtime friend who lives in one of the worst hit areas, I have been motivated to put together a fund-raising trip to Cape York to support people stricke...n by the drought The monies raised will be distributed by the Country Women’s Association (CWA). The itinerary for the trip is attached and will involve a maximum of ten vehicles at a cost of $2200 per vehicle, which will include camping and barge fees as well as Doin it for the Drought apparel. For the most part, the trip will be self-catered. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of the participants, we will supply three trip leaders, all of which are trained First Responders, who also possess excellent knowledge in remote area travel, four-wheel driving, and vehicle recovery, as well as mechanical skills. The start date for the trip is 26th of July from Gladstone.

16.01.2022 OK folks, now we are over Covid, let's get into gear and promote the heck out of this, the farmers are no less drought affected then when I started this. Due to covid, some people's status have changed and unfortunately for us they will not be able to participate, so if you know of anyone interested, please get them on board. Since going up the Cape in September, we now have Morton Telegraph Station on board, so let's make this even bigger than what it was before Covid, and thank you to all that support this. The preliminary date is leaving Gladstone on the 22th of May 2021.

16.01.2022 Well the world has been turned upside down. Seeing as we still have 3 and a half months before we head up, I'm going to be the eternal optimist and say we are still doing the trip. I will keep everyone posted as the situation develops. Please stay safe.

15.01.2022 OK, A few concerns with the late start to the wet season on the Cape, so the new departure date is now the 26th July, this will also give the participants a little more time for preparation. As of today there is only 2 spots left for the trip of a lifetime. We have an awesome group of corporate sponsors on board as well, here is just a few, Multitrade, High Risk Solutions, Everything Uniform, Mac Trans, Walz Group and Lister Motors and "Get on Board" A big thank you to all of them for getting behind this fundraiser.

14.01.2022 I love these people.

10.01.2022 This may sound like a bit of a ramble, but I please ask you to keep reading. Today the 9th of October 2020, I received news that a good friend, a family man, with a lovely wife and two beautiful children, thought it was all to much and decided to take his life, he was in his late 30's and really did have everything to look forward to. I am writing this after 12 hours of deep thought, I do not understand why this happened to a particular person, but what I did figure out was t...hat it is not just the drought, or the bushfire that take husbands, sons and partners from us, it is us males that do not talk about the issues in life that push some of us to take the ultimate option, I am writing this in a state of bewilderment and not understanding why we males cannot talk about issues. Today's events have made me think deeply about this issue, and realise it is not drought, or bushfire, it is about mental health. This will no doubt change the direction of Doin it for the Drought, the base problem is the same, the inability of us males to talk about issues in our life, please give me feedback if you are all willing to help address this issue. It makes such a difference if we all just asked "RUOK" With thanks. Tony Fallows. See more

07.01.2022 I cannot believe the response I have had, I went to bed last night with 42 responses, I woke up with 3500, it is now heading towards 6000, from the bottom of my heart, I cannot thank everyone enough for sharing this. The "Doin it for the Drought" is not only about supporting drought stricken farmers, it is also about mental health, particularly us blokes, who don't talk about the demons inside. Those in Gladstone know we lost a brother recently and the hurt does not subside, please if you can contribute and I'm only talking about nothing more than a cup of coffee, please do it, I will post the QCWA details for donations shortly. If we can save one life, we have done well. Again I would like to thank you for all for your support. Tony Fallows, "Doin it for the Drought"

05.01.2022 Well the world has been turned upside down this last month, NPARC (Northern Peninsular Area Regional Council), has closed access from the Jardine River north to all but essential services, We still feel confident that the NPA will be open by the time the trip is due to leave. I will keep everyone posted as i find out more.
