I should probably add this is what can happen to your "mini" pig. Not that it matters when you are providing a home for a loved pet, I was fully prepared to love him for life no matter what

16.01.2022 Pigs have no manners when it comes to sleep times. They just flop all over each other and pile up until everyone is in their spot and comfy. Plenty of grumbling goes on in the process, that's for sure. It's quite hilarious to watch. Our move is going slower than we'd hoped, but we're getting there! 16.01.2022 Dozy and Rosie prefer to sleep by the fence, or in Rosie's case ON the fence, so they are close by. Rosie talks in her dreams, it's a beautiful thing to see her so happy wherever her dreams may take her She also farts with abandon.

13.01.2022 When your mates at Sugarshine FARM Sanctuary get the call about a cockatoo needing a home, how do you not put your hand up! We love pigs and we also love our Aussie natives. This is George the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo. He has been a loved pet and enjoys nothing more than sitting on your shoulder to help do stuff. Anything really, as long as he's in on the action. He says "hello George" & "scratches". We get the feeling that very soon he'll be crowing like a rooster, grunting like a pig, and perhaps picking up a few other choice words He's a very clever boy.

13.01.2022 Next week we will be moving our large pigs to their new home, and we need help! Little pigs are one thing, but the big guys are another story altogether. Like Elvis here, pigs will sometimes do the opposite of what you want, like sit on the tarp you're trying to reattach to the shelter it blew off, right when you decide to do it. 12.01.2022 *Bubba Update* Bubba has been released from piggy hospital and is delighted to be back with his pig family. He's still receiving pain medication and has completed his course of antibiotics. He appears to have improved and although still swollen he's not sore to the touch. We'll follow up with our vet today. Keep up the good work kiddo, we know you got this!

11.01.2022 Tis the weather to be buried in straw. Once again we are experiencing some torrential and consistent rainfall. It's no fun for the pigs or their human carers, but straw, and lots of it, makes life much, much better. We think gorgeous young Matilda's face says it all. Round bales cost $50 each and we are having to re stock beds, and barns, and shelters, often, to keep everyone happy and dry. 08.01.2022 Female pigs go on heat for 3 days in every 21. For most it's a non issue, for others like Sweetie here it's a main event, every single month. Today poor Sweetie has been barking at Jesse, following me around to root on my legs in frustration, lots of pawing at fences and agro towards the other pigs. It's not a pleasant time as you can see. A little CBD oil can help relax her, but as a rule we just have to wait it out and offer a boot to beat up and pats. I prefer to stay on the other side of the fence at these times because there's A LOT of force behind those snouts. Unfortunately pigs are not known to cope well under anaesthesia, so desexing of female pigs isn't something we do. It may be time to discuss this option with our vet for Sweetie though, to help alleviate her monthly misery.

07.01.2022 I asked Clyde if he was hogging all the food. He said no, but the evidence was clearly stacked against him Clyde was left abandoned to starve to death. A boar for a backyard breeder he came to us with his breeding partner Bonnie, Forest and Lola their two sickly, weeks old piglets, and Marty, Ma and Charlotte (3-6months). We were contacted by the next tenant to take on the property when they discovered the pigs. It was a huge decision to take on this many pigs as a new sanc...tuary, but they desperately needed us. Clyde and his family will never go hungry again. 05.01.2022 As everyone knows, Contented Pig Inn is dedicated solely to pigs. Pigs are one of the most misunderstood and abused animals out there. Every other day we get requests to take on pigs for various different reasons and, unfortunately, we just couldn't endlessly provide what's required for each and every pig. Nothing would be more amazing than a thousand acres and a big fat money tree so we could provide everything any pig could ever need, but at this stage, that's just a wonder...ful dream! What we can do though, is help rehome as many pigs as possible as the requests come through. To do this we need to reach as many people as possible who may be able to offer safe and loving FOREVER homes to these beautiful animals.
