04.01.2022 Thank you so so much to everyone who joined us Wednesday evening for our 2018 Local Food Launchpad Pitch Night. We had a packed house at One Roof Australia, with 120 people coming from all around Melbourne and right across Australia. We were amazed at how quickly tickets for the event sold (they sold out the week before) and are incredibly grateful for the keen interest and support we’ve received over the last few weeks. For many of our participants, Local Food Launchpad is t...he first time that they’ve had the chance to follow their passion, work on their dreams and start their own venture. It was also the very first time for nearly all of them that they’ve gotten up in front of a crowd to share that passion, those dreams and their big plans. So your kind encouragement and heartwarming response were very much appreciated. Thank you. Every year that we run Local Food Launchpad, there are always at least a few participants that are in need of seed funding to take their ventures forward. This year we thought we’d include a crowdfunding component to the program (with the generous support of StartSomeGood.com) and provide an opportunity on Pitch Night for attendees to make a contribution, and help those ventures to take their next big steps. With such an amazing response to the event, Pitch Night attendees raised an incredible $3,000 to be split among our four ventures running crowdfunding campaigns this year. They are: > The Veggie Empire at Beales Rd Farm > Farm Raiser > EatGrowNourish (coming in two weeks) > Bunjil Farm (coming in two weeks) Make sure you check out their crowdfunding campaigns (see below) and please help spread the word. These folks are all doing invaluable work making the way we grow, distribute, sell, prepare and eat our food more healthy, sustainable and socially inclusive. A small contribution from you can help them make a huge difference. We’ll be posting some more pics and a video in the next week, and publishing a Local Food Launchpad wrap up post in the next few weeks, with an outline of what’s next for his year’s Local Food Launchpad participants, and a sneak peek of what we’ve got on the drawing board for 2019. Finally, a special thanks to: > our special guest speakers Councillor Beverley Pinder, Dr Rachel Carey (The University of Melbourne) and Miranda Sharp (Melbourne Farmers Markets), > our panel of judges Miranda, Tom Dawkins (StartSomeGood.com) and Emma Forster (City of Melbourne), and the brilliant Chef Ben Mac and team at The Social Food Project for helping make it such a special night.
