23.01.2022 Border permits are required.Qld-SA, Qld- NT. even if you cross the border for a day/ night like we did to go to Innamicka, you will need another permit to get back into Qld .By the way police are checking all borders, and they have turned people away.
23.01.2022 Visited the iconic Betoota pub, just before Birdsville. The last owner died in 2004, then the pub became a ghost town. The pub is now owned by Robbo, who has had a rough time getting council approval, finally he gets it opened to be shut again by covid. Robbo is happy to say he is opened full-time, unless covid hits again.free camping around the pub or down by the creek. you can get breakfast,lunch and dinner. Nice clean ammenties. Such an iconic pub.

20.01.2022 Free camping on the river at Noccundra to the beautiful outback of Innamicka. The country is looking really good. The road is about to have bitumen to Innamicka.
18.01.2022 Great day out in the West MacDonnell Ranges,with our friends from *Trippin Tates* . Some 4x4 driving to palm valley- Finke Gorge.the gorges were just stunning. Drove into the local community (Hermmansberg)and had a look around.

16.01.2022 Totally recommend staying here. Great place to relax by the river. Bird watchers delight. Friendly town, great home made pies by matt from you petrol station/store. Nice hot showers, and a tennis court for a friendly game of tennis and yummy blue claw.

14.01.2022 Leaving home,with everything and everyone in tow even the cat. First stop at Alpha. Alf said you have to buy a pie from the bakery.Brought 1 pie from bakery as there was no more left, went to the BP petrol station where they had home made pies and brought another 4.well the BP had the best pies. Look at the size difference.So next time your in Alpha and you want a pie, definitely try the BP petrol station.stopped at Jericho free camp on the lagoon, water was a bit low and crowded, so up the road to Barcaldine.On the right just before you hit the town a free camp with toilets.Huge area.

14.01.2022 Sad to see Birdsville so quiet,no racing this year for them. But I enjoyed the serenity. Population usually 150 but for the racers it increases to 7000.
14.01.2022 This town is bigger than you expect.Put Quilpie on your list to visit, if you want to wind down down for a couple of days, do some opal fosiking, see the man made lake, check out the sunset on baldy top lookout ,is catch some yellow belly in local creek. Information staff were very friendly, the whole town was friendly.they have 2 convenience shops,and there prices are very reasonable. definitely a place to refill the pantry.

12.01.2022 I'm a little bit disappointed.But have learnt the hard way. With covid here all events need to be booked online in advance while staying in longreach.we couldn't get into Qantas as a family, we had to wait around 4 days to do Stockman's hall of fame.The Kinn & Co wasn't running either. So make sure you book in advance if your a family travelling through Longreach.
