25.01.2022 One of our guests had a drone and took this footage last Christmas. Fabulous views of the canals, and looking out to the Peel Inlet: https://youtu.be/m2Szyc4wB3s

24.01.2022 Mid-year seems to be the time the baby dolphins are bought into the canals by their mums to learn to feed. Its always a thrill to see the tiny little babies swimming around, so full of the joys of life. They do like to come over and check you out. Obviously, theyre as curious about us as we are about them. This year I was lucky enough to be standing on our jetty with the camera ready to go when this gorgeous little one came by for a look. #Waterfronthomes #waterfrontholid...ayhomes #dolphinviewcottage #dolphins #closetonature #BringYourBoat #peelregion #birdwatching #birdlovers #dolphinwatching #babydolphins See more

22.01.2022 As a nicely timed Christmas present, the baby birds that hatched under our boat have flown the nest. Such a thrill to see them nice and safe. And it means I dont need to jump in and rescue any babies. #dolphinviewcottage #dolphins #closetonature #BringYourBoat... #peelregion #birdwatching #birdlovers #dolphinwatching See more

19.01.2022 Meet Kevin. Kevin is a Nankeen Heron, or Rufous Night Heron. He likes to check out what fish youve caught, and like to help you eat them if possible. He is sometimes accompanied by Raelene (his missus). If youre in the neighbourhood be sure to say hello to Kevin and Raelene. #dolphinviewcottage #dolphins #birdlife #birdwatching

19.01.2022 The canals in Dawesville get all the creds for their Christmas Lights, but I reckon we all do a pretty good job here in South Yunderup as well. This display belongs to friends of ours. Its their "low-key" display for this year because they didnt want to go overboard like they usually do.

18.01.2022 Can you see yourself here? We have had a cancellation so we have 5 nights free from December 16th to 20th. Nice lazy evenings with a glass of wine, chatting to the pelicans. Lovely still mornings with mornings on the verandah. What more could you ask for. If youre interested jump onto our website at www.dolphinviewcottage.com.au for our contact details.

17.01.2022 How about these clouds! Stepped out the door to check out the weather and spotted these. Pretty dramatic huh?

16.01.2022 And, just as a teaser, heres a picture taken recently from our jetty of a special visitor.

16.01.2022 Weve had rain! Not much but, given it hasnt rained for a couple of months anything is welcome. And the pigeons obviously approve too. It took me a while to work out what these two crested pigeons were doing on top of my chook run. But it turns out they were taking advantage of the rain to give themselves a bit of a wash. "Wash under your arms. Make sure you clean behind your ears..." #DolphinViewCottage

15.01.2022 Did you know that the Peel Inlet is twice the size of Sydney Harbour? Where else can you get to see views like this?

14.01.2022 You have to be patient to see these guys but they are around. Splendid wrens in all their splendour. Its mating season so the males look just fabulous.

13.01.2022 Hows this for dramatic? Stepped outside to check out the weather and spotted these dramatic clouds. Even when the weathers dodgy its still good!

11.01.2022 Australia Day in South Yunderup. Loads of people take their boats and line the entrance to the Murray River to camp and picnic. Its a great sight, but a bit of a gauntlet to run what with the incoming water bombs and being shot at by super soakers. Great fun and reminds us what a fantastic place Australia is and how lucky to live where we do.

07.01.2022 Theres nothing like a visit from the dolphins to make your day. Weve lived here for 15 years and we still never tire of seeing them come by.

06.01.2022 We have a bird bath that the New Holland Honeyeaters love. Every night they line up for a bath, then line up again on the fence line to dry off and have a chat amongst themselves. So entertaining to watch!

06.01.2022 Dolphin View Cottage is now on Facebook! Look out for regular updates from this fabulous part of the world.

06.01.2022 We have Fairy Martins (Swifts) nesting between the pontoons under our boat. Im really not sure how they will manage when they learn to fly. Baby birds do have a habit of throwing themselves out of the nest in their enthusiasm. In the meantime, we cant take the boat out on the water. And Im watching like a hawk in case I need to jump in the water and perform mouth to mouth on a baby bird.

05.01.2022 Heads down, bums up! Every now and then you get just the right angle. A swan and a duck going the extra mile to reach the bottom while their friend just sticks his head under the water to see what he can get.

03.01.2022 Coronavirus Update: If you've stayed at our cottage before, you will know we really work hard at making it sparkling clean for your visit. Now, to make sure it's completely safe against Coronavirus, we're stepping our cleaning up a notch and sanitising all surfaces. We use antiseptic throughout the house, and all linen is washed in very hot water to make sure it's been completely cleaned. And remember, Dolphin View Cottage is a completely self-contained house so you can stay and still practice social distancing to keep you and your family safe.

03.01.2022 Here you go - a cracker of a sunrise at Dolphin View Cottage. Not this morning I admit, but nice to post to show the fabulous sunrises down this way.

01.01.2022 Heres another speccy photo I took last night while doing a boat tour of the canals here in South Yunderup. Fabulous work!

01.01.2022 How's this for dramatic? Stepped outside to check out the weather and spotted these dramatic clouds. Even when the weather's dodgy it's still good!
