25.01.2022 We were fortunate to spend quite some time monitoring Doc today, he is still looking very thin and we can't be certain he is actively fishing, however we did ob...serve a few deep dives and some significant travelling by him today. Whilst we were watching him with a couple of other dolphins in the area we were very lucky to see three tail walks from another dolphin which is always spectacular. See more

22.01.2022 Doc update. His health has turned backwards. I noticed today the wound on his fin looked much worse than ever before. I also noticed a new lesion, wound just be...low his fin. While his behaviour remains good, these wounds need medical attention now. I have been advised he only needs a dose of antibiotics to get over this. And here lies the problem. The rangers are against using antibiotics when the health issue is not related to human impact. But that does not agree with previous actions. The Whyalla calf in 2014 (?) had a shark bite and this dolphin was given antibiotics and made a full recovery. So now we want the same for Doc. He needs our help. He needs our voice. Please send an email to [email protected]

21.01.2022 Doc update This morning Doc was fishing using some of the fishing techniques he used before he fell sick. He body was twisting in the shallows digging for food,... he was using bubble bursts to confuse fish, and sometimes he was still using his echolocation to find fish. Then after all of that he was back with Hope and Mel and a whole lot of birds feeding on another school of fish. He is still extremely thin, and his recovery will be long and slow, but he is 100% improved over last week. Keep going Doc. You'll get there. See more

20.01.2022 Retrieving shopping trolleys because it's good for the environment and fun Charlie and Reece on the Port waterfront today (Didn't want to use photos of their faces, without their parents' permission) Well done guys

18.01.2022 Whilst down at the river yesterday we saw Ripple having a brief ride on the bow wave of a tug, in the below photo (apologies for the quality) we noticed that Ri...pple appears to be displaying a very rounded appearance, from this observation we are very hopeful it means she may be pregnant which would be great after all the recent sad news. We also saw Doc whose behaviour and condition seems stable at this stage, hopefully we can give you a further update in the coming days although weather conditions will be against us with extreme temperatures being forecast for the next couple of days. 18.01.2022 While out monitoring the dolphins I have been very fortunate to have had many incredible close encounters with the Port River dolphins from the land. This one w...as one of my favourites. Port River Dolphins Billie, Marianna, Rosso and Bronny. 4 incredible dolphins that are missing or no longer with us. They all captured the hearts of so many and are missed so much. Apologies for the footage quality, this footage was taken over a decade ago. It is important we do what we can to protect the rest of the dolphin pod. #AdelaideDolphinSanctuary See more

13.01.2022 Thank you for all of your beautiful healing thoughts. I think they worked For the first time in ages Doc was in the middle of a feeding frenzy with Hope and Me...l. They had a school of fish and Doc was chasing and fishing well. It was also the first time in over a week I have seen him outside the Garden Island area. So this was a great relief to see him fishing again with friends. Hoping he continues and puts on some weight as he is still very thin. See more

12.01.2022 Beautiful weather for cruising the Port River... Last 2 weeks of the school holidays, check the website for cruise times and book online so you don’t miss out!

10.01.2022 Another mischievous dolphin. I found a large dead fish on the rocks and thought it was better off in the river feeding small fish and crabs, so I tossed it in. ...When I visited that spot later, I was surprised to find Tallula playing with it and then he had it in his mouth. Not sure if he tried to eat it or just play with it. See more

10.01.2022 Hi everyone. I've heard from the department about Doc and they are seeking advice. Should hear back by tomorrow. So let's take a breather and wait for their reply. Thank you everyone for speaking up for Doc. Hoping he'll get his antibiotics very soon. I'll keep you updated.

06.01.2022 Here we have Ripple, Echo and Hope spending quite a bit of time together yesterday. I found them at 10am chilling out in the shallows, and saw them still together as they came to ride the bow waves of the Dolphin Explorer.

05.01.2022 Mischievous dolphin. Twinkles tossing an eel in the air. He must have learnt this from Star.

05.01.2022 I was able to spend some time with Doc yesterday and his condition has not changed much over the lockdown. We are still incredibly concerned about him. Thank y...ou very much to all the people out on the water that kept their distance so as not to cause Doc any further stress. A BIG thank you to the head ranger for spending time on his day off talking to people and reminding them to slow down and keep their distance. There are a number of environmental concerns in the area including pollution, reports in the decline in the numbers of fish, increased salinity and acidity in the water and the St Kilda Mangroves dying. This is all very worrying. We do not know if Doc's condition is related to any of these issues or if he is suffering from a virus or if it is something else that has caused him to become so thin and unwell. We continue to be very worried about him. See more

03.01.2022 Here's the link.

01.01.2022 Doc update: Again today he was fishing, both on his own and then joining with Hunter and Happy. We hope news will come soon on the decision to give him antibiot...ics. Please send an email to Richard Degroot asking for this if you can. We were also very pleased to meet the new Ranger Volunteers. These fine people were at Garden Island talking to visitors, kayakers, etc and reminding them about the distance rules. It's so good to know they are here looking after this area. Also seen today were Bubbles and Summer having fun in front of the tugboat, Doc, Happy, Hunter, Tallula, Hope, Zoom, Fantasy, Indi. Echo and Mel.

01.01.2022 Here we have the two brothers, Hope and Doc. Hope first fishing behind and then in front of the fence. Doc going one way and coming back another. Out in the riv...er Ripple went over to the tugboat to join the other dolphin already jumping in front of it. This is followed by another river resident, a beautiful stingray. Also seen today were Mouse and Mimo, Hunter, Happy, Tallula, Twinkle, Mel, Ali and Bubbles. See more
