22.01.2022 Today, we farewelled Chewie! After many weeks of expert veterinary care and lots of TLC from our marine mammal team, the resilient New Zealand Fur Seal Pup made an impressive recovery from horrific injuries which we suspect were caused by a predator and a boat propeller. Special thanks to the fantastic team at Whale Watch Experience Coffs Harbour for taking us out on your beautiful boat to release this cheeky seal. Chewie seemed reluctant to say goodbye to his carers. He came back for a second look.. and then swam off! Goodbye Chewie. We will all miss you and wish you a long life exploring the oceans. #DolphinMarineConservationPark #DolphinMarineRescue #CoffsHarbour #VisitNSW #CoffsCoast

22.01.2022 International Zookeeper Day October 4th 2020 Please take the opportunity today to stop and reflect on the incredible contribution zookeepers make to the care and conservation of all species great and small. 2020 has added many challenges to both professional and personal lives with the world-wide pandemic. The majority of zoos and aquariums had to close their doors to ensure both the safety of the human public and the animal inhabitants. Now, the survival of many zoos and aqu...ariums is at risk of facing permanent closure. Zoos are incredible assets with loyal staff who only want to care for the animals, but we currently only have predictions how long this crisis will last. That is why IZD 2020 is especially important. Zookeepers matter, so celebrate! #internationalzookeeperday #IZD2020 #stillcaring #dolphinmarineconservationpark #coffscoast #coffsharbournsw See more

19.01.2022 We were delighted to be involved in the 3rd Junior Darrunda Wajaarr Ranger Day! Our vet Duan showed the Junior Rangers a sick turtle and explained how important it is to keep our environment clean and rubbish free. As part of the day, two teams collected a total of 20 hessian sandbags full of rubbish along the Coffs Creek which were separated into recycling, general waste and metals! Along the way, the Junior Rangers learnt about bush tucker plants and practised Gumbaynggi...rr language. Everyone learnt a lot and best of all had fun! We look forward to being part of the next day! #DolphinMarineConservationPark #CoffsCoast #ConservationEducation

19.01.2022 **HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUGO** Hugo, our little Australian Sea Lion is one year old today. As Australian Sea Lions are an endangered species Hugo is an important addition to the population. He is especially so because his mum is Adelaide a rescued sea lion from you guessed it Adelaide. Being rescued from the wild, Adelaide’s and now Hugo’s genetics are vital to the Australian Species Management Program (ASMP) to help us and the other members of the ASMP maintain a healthy, viabl...e breeding program. Hugo has captured the hearts of all the team members at Dolphin Marine Conservation Park and our guests with his cheeky antics, his loud voice and the way he tests the patience of all the other members of our Australian Sea Lion colony especially his mum, Adelaide, his dad Ozzie and his play buddy Storm. It was a treat to see Hugo attack his frozen fish cake although, given that it was frozen, he was not too sure at first. Happy 1st Birthday Hugo

10.01.2022 Thanks to Coffs Coast News Of The Area for covering our inaugural Halloween Eve event and helping highlight the terrors of trash in our oceans. You can read the story in the link below. Tiga, our Life Science Manager said there are some simple things people can do at home to help protect our precious marine and other wildlife such as: - picking up plastic and other rubbish and putting it in the correct bins - blowing bubbles at parties instead of balloons - keeping pets inside at night to save attacks on wildlife #halloween2020 #DolphinMarineConservationPark #Penguins #CoffsHarbour #LoveNSW
