15.01.2022 Go Home, Cheeky Animals is a story written by Johanna Bell and Dion Beasley. It was the Winner of the Childrens Book Council of Australia Awards: Early Childhood Book of the year 2017. 13.01.2022 While visiting the preschool side today one of our toddlers noticed the beautiful mural along the fence that our beautiful friend Lara Yukul Art has done with the help of the preschoolers. Our friend pointed to each of the sea creatures and would turn to an educator and tell them the name of each sea creature as has pointed to it. Culture is central to a childs individuality, identity and sense of belonging and success in lifelong learning. To support the identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and to enhance the knowledge of non-Indigenous children, we have Lara come to our services to teach/creative beautiful aboriginal art work with our children. LOC.1 Children have a strong sense of identity.

05.01.2022 We understand children are capable and successful learners. Childrens learning and development is supported through individual and collaborative learning experiences and play. This statement is from our Philosophy which reflects on Quality areas: Quality area 1- children have a strong sense of identity. Quality area 5- children are confident and involved learners.

04.01.2022 This week we have begun to have conversations around ANZAC Day. We started off with painting some poppies to create a wreath. One of the children questioned why are they only red? Which opened up a whole other avenue of learning. We researched and learnt that once the war was over, red poppies were the first thing to grow after. Well continue these discussions and ensure their questions are answered in a child friendly way. Later on this week we have planned a cooking experience, where we will make ANZAC cookies! You can do this at home. We have added a photo of the recipe we will be following. LOC.4 Children are confident and involved learners.
