25.01.2022 IMPORTANT READ FOR ALL WOODHEATER OWNERS: Ok! So yesterday I had a call from a man down in Scamander saying that he got smoked out of his house despite me cleaning his chimney flue last year. He has a heat pump and doesnt use his woodheater all that often! This concerned me, and I figured perhaps that birds must have made a nest in his flue, causing it not to draw. I called in on my way home, without any tools just to have a quick look and see if I could find the probl...em. After removing the baffle plate from inside the heater I could feel a round spongey but quite solid mound protruding from the bottom of the flue but I couldnt see what it was due to it being quite dark in the room. WHAT WAS IT??? After the owner brought me a torch I quickly realized what I had been pulling and poking at was in fact a very unfortunate Brushtail Possum!!! It was deceased, and hadnt been there too long. It managed to somehow get into the flue from off the roof without removing the flue cap! I managed to remove it, and now the heater is burning beautifully. Moral of the story.... PLEASE GET YOUR FLUES CHECKED IF YOUR HEATER IS NOT BURNING CORRECTLY.

20.01.2022 Hello all woodheater owners! If you can physically see dripping creosote hanging from your flue cap it might be time you called your local chimney sweep! The problem with allowing your flue to get this bad, is that the sides of the flue become wet and sticky and it will clog up even quicker in the future despite the best efforts of your flue cleaner. Lesson: Get too it early! At least once a year for best results.

07.01.2022 ATTENTION ALL WOODHEATER OWNERS. This is the most intricate peice of art I have ever seen at the top of flue! Haha. Chicken wire is great for keeping birds out of your woodheater, but it will clog up your chimney quite a bit quicker than usual, so keep an eye on it. Inspecting the cap of your flue, even from the ground, is a good idea from time to time.... THINGS TO LOOK FOR OUTSIDE: 1. Creosote hanging or dripping from the top of the cap. 2. Dry grass on your roof or around the chimney cap shows evidence of bird activity/nest building. 3. Flue cap missing. (Can cause rusting out of fire box/baffle plate.) THINGS TO LOOK FOR INSIDE: 1. Sickly smell when you have the fire burning. 2. Crusty glass in the top left corner. (when you are looking at the heater). 3. Water pooling inside heater or running down the outside of the flue onto the top of the heater. 4. Smoke consistently coming into the house when you open the heater door. 5. Door seal rope breaking down, or has pieces missing. If you notice any of the above things please let me know. I can provide you with a free quote to fix the issues. Ph. 0419103537. PS. 07.01.2022 The life of a chimney sweep is a good one on days like this! Have you had your chimney/flue and woodheater cleaned and inspected this year?

06.01.2022 How long has it been since you had youre chimney flue inspected? I have been finding numerous weather cowls either rusted out, or even completely missing. A damaged cowl or missing flue cap allows rain water to either enter the inner or outer flue space which can cause premature rusting of the top of the woodheater, baffle plate and the lugs that hold the plate in place. These issues along with damaged glass and door seals can all add to inefficient woodheater operation. For flue cleaning and heater inspections or advice please do not hesitate to call. Ph. 0419 103 537. Pic: This cowl had collapsed causing the flue cap to fall blocking off air flow to the heater causing dangerous amounts of smoke to enter the home. This can happen at night, which is what happened in this instance. Safety first!!!

01.01.2022 I heard a rumor going around that apparently I may have left town! Just letting you know that this is fake news! Haha. I am still flat out cleaning windows, Tinting Windows and cleaning Flues/Chimneys.

01.01.2022 This bathroom had some privacy issues! Note the shower head is clearly visible from the yard. This was easily fixed with some Johnsons Scenic View 10 window film. Lifetime warranty on residential buildings, 10 years on Commercial buildings. The Kitchen was also tinted to reduce heat and glare. Free quotes available.

I encourage those few house owners that may wake up to a blocked flue or a smokey living room and attempt to scale the roof and drop a chain down their chimney just to save a few dollars, to look out for white ice on these frosty mornings!
