25.01.2022 On Friday we celebrated our End of Year Blessing & Thanksgiving Mass. A beautiful celebration! Special thanks to Fr Roderick and our Year 6 parents for joining us. This was a significant and memorable occasion for our Year 6 Graduates and our school community.

23.01.2022 September is CATHOLIC CHARITIES month where a little giving goes a long way. This term our staff have prepared and shared in a Hot Soup Lunch once a week, with all invited to contribute a gold coin donation for the Hutt St Centre to support the homeless. Through this initiative we have raised $140 for the homeless. Our Catholic way is to live with love and justice and our staff have united in faith to provide outreach to those in need. #RaisingHeartsAndMinds

19.01.2022 NAIDOC Week update! Classes have been engaged in various activities celebrating our Australian Indigenous Culture. Art tasks, story telling using symbols and Dreamtime at Dominican held on Tuesday run by the Nunga Club. It will culminate with NAIDOC Week Community Prayer hosted by 2/3DO tomorrow.

17.01.2022 In the midst of COVID-19 the Reception/year 1 and year 5/6 students wrote cards to the Philip Kennedy centre to let them know that we were thinking of them in such a difficult time. A few weeks back the students were delighted to receive a parcel in the mail with their responses. The students read their individual cards from the nursing home with huge smiles on their faces. We look forward to writing back to them.

14.01.2022 Today we celebrate the feast day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, the first Australian saint. Always remaining true to her mission, Mary is remembered fondly for her commitment to education, religious life and justice. Her story is not without hardship and reminds us that trusting in Gods will through times of struggle is especially important. As part of their RE lessons, the 4/5 students spent time learning about the life of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop and St Dominic. They also created a collage of them both. 14.01.2022 Calling out all aspiring student performers! Towards the end of last term, Miss Flynn founded a Drama Club for Year 4-6 students who love to act, perform and tell captivating stories. This extra-curricular activity takes place every Thursday at lunchtime in the Performing Arts room.... At Drama Club, students have the opportunity to: - Improve verbal literacy skills by participating in cold play readings - Develop self-confidence through participating in theatre games/activities - Cultivate new friendships across year levels - Spend time in a safe haven where children are encouraged to creatively experiment and enjoy the Arts! 14.01.2022 This week we celebrated Physical Education Week! There were a variety of classroom and lunchtime activities on offer to the students which were linked to the following theme days: Muscle Monday, Target Tuesday, Walk It Wednesday, Team Thursday and Feel Good Friday. Students also received their Premier’s Be Active Medals from the challenge that they completed in Term 2.

13.01.2022 Jump Rope for Heart is well underway and its great to see so many children out in the playground skipping with big smiles on their faces. Dominican school has already raised over $10,000 and completed 137 hours of skipping! Keep up the great efforts and if you havent signed your child up yet, it's not too late.

12.01.2022 The 5/6 classes have been learning about the different states of matter (solids, liquids and gases). They conducted an experiment using water, corn starch and food colouring to make oobleck! Oobleck is a non-Newtonian liquid which is a liquid that under stress acts like a solid.

09.01.2022 As part of Science Week 4/5M were introduced to an element of computing programming into our Science Curriculum. The task consisted in integrating the Scratch Programme with Biological Science. The children were asked to create an animal habitat which needed to include a number of facts about the habitat, its inhabitants and what are the major challenges it faces. The children had a great time learning about coding and the different habitats.

09.01.2022 On St Dominics Day, we invited all students and staff to wear our Dominican colours of black and white and to bring along a gold coin donation to support the Sophia Centre, established by the Holy Cross Dominican Sisters. We raised over $200 to support the important work of this centre in working for justice in the world. THANK YOU from the Justice Leaders.

We congratulate our Children’s University graduates and our Out of School Hours Sport students on their participation, persistence and commitment to learning throughout the year. Well done! We would also like to acknowledge our amazing coaches who have given up their time to support and guide our athletes this year. Thank you!

01.01.2022 The Premier of South Australia has announced a 6-day statewide lockdown commencing midnight Wednesday 18 November 2020. For the next tw...o days 19 and 20 November all Catholic Schools will be closed except for care of the children of essential workers. These are school closure days and, as such, no online learning will be provided. A small number of staff will be at each school site to provide supervised care to any family who requires this essential service. Schools will remain closed in the week commencing 23 November except for the care of children of essential workers.
