22.01.2022 With significant interest shown for the garage sale being held this Saturday, we have put together a site map on where to park and entry into the garage sale. Please note, no shoes - no entry and definitely no smoking. Maryborough City Progress Association is running a raffle that will see the winner and a friend get a personal tour of the ground floor of the mill - unfortunately, no pictures are allowed on this tour.

21.01.2022 Another day, another break in. The latest trespassers not only smashed in another wall, but broke into an area that held Dieldrin and smashed it all over the floor. For those who were responsible for this damage, I would suggest you get yourself checked out. Dieldrin is a highly toxic carcinogen which was locked away for a good reason.... A 20 litre red fuel container and fuel was also stolen. QLD Police have been out for photos again.

18.01.2022 3 males leaving the mill from the same location where they damaged the wall getting in.

17.01.2022 This old roof has seen better days.

15.01.2022 Pictures of the 3 males that broke into and damaged the mill on 12 September at 3pm. Feel free to share or tell the police who they are.

12.01.2022 The last building on the old flour mill site came down today. One more step closer to re-purposing the site. Thanks to Hose Family Trust for doing a great job.

09.01.2022 Queensland Police have suggested we update all the signs to ensure that trespassers are clear about the dangers in the mill (fire, asbestos, flaking lead paint, holes you could fall through and structural collapse). Some may not know that they used flammable liquids on the floors of the 4 storey machinery shed during mill cleaning and maintenance. Over the years, oils and grease that has dropped from the machines have also seeped into the floors.

08.01.2022 Yet another break-in at the mill. This time they cut the wire, smashed an internal wall and then signed the concrete to show their total disregard for other people's property. If you know the signature, please contact police as they have investigated and also taken photos. Thank goodness the many cigarettes the trespassers extinguished on the timber floors didn't start a fire.

05.01.2022 Media Release: The flour mill in Kent Street Maryborough changed ownership 18 months ago, and after 12 months of negotiation with Fraser Coast Regional Council, approval was recently received to progress for future development with the demolition of the dangerous and dilapidated buildings. This demolition removes a significant safety risk to the community and work will begin this week. It is expected to take about three months to complete.... The mill owners are focused on keeping the project local, hence made the decision to use Maryborough’s trusted demolition company Hose Family Trust to undertake this work boosting the local economy and keeping any recovered resources locally. This work has directly led to new local staff being employed for the term of the contract. At the completion of the demolition, the mill owners will again work in consultation with Council on the next phase of the site development. Many councillors have visited the site, reviewed and consulted on this project, and the owners would like to acknowledge their work, with a particular note on the effort and future focus for Maryborough by Cr Paul Truscott.

01.01.2022 I have been contacted by a number of people concerning the extra fencing at the front of the arch. The reason this has been put into place is the arch was recently assessed by two independent engineers who used xray type equipment as well as conducting wind load analysis to conclude that the structure doesn’t meet building standards and is unsafe. Information about the arch: - No internal stabilisation connecting the 4 pillars to the 15 tonne section above.... - Only 1 area in the arch has 4 bars of reinforcement and the steel is rusting, causing the bricks to dislodge resulting in the large external cracks. - The brick piers are 1/3 of the strength they should be for a structure this size.
