24.01.2022 Wondering where your money's going? You might be surprised at how much is being leaked on subscriptions, especially the ones you'd planned to cancel within the trial period. Here's your friendly reminder to check your bank statement and do a stocktake of whether you actually need each and every subscription you've signed up for. Even a $30 subscription is $360 over the course of a year, and it makes sense to keep this money in your pocket, rather than donate it to someone els...e. When deciding what to keep and what to cancel, work out the cost per use to get a good gauge on whether it's worth it.

23.01.2022 Sure, you could spend your time trawling the internet, comparing interest rates, completing paperwork, plugging your details into calculatorsOR you could find an expert to do it for you. As anyone who's researched home loans will know, it's a maze out there - with thousands of home loan permutations, each with their own specific criteria of the type of borrower who can be approved. We help you decipher the fine print so you can be confident you're getting what you need.

23.01.2022 A good read about volatility; it does promote Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) to a point (as you might expect), but the fundamental message is that "time", combined with "returns" can provide good outcomes for investors.

22.01.2022 Small businesses: be prepared for a COVID-19 closure. If you don’t have a cash buffer, maybe consider getting a line of credit (or similar) established ASAP. Just in case.... If you are forced to close your doors due to COVID-19, make sure you have sufficient funds available, to get you through. It may only be short term, but be prepared.

22.01.2022 Hhmmmm... we've questioned the high level of "growth" assets in industry fund allocations in the past. We've also questioned whether they are overly exposed to unlisted, illiquid assets. https://www.afr.com//hostplus-changes-rules-to-freeze-with

19.01.2022 A good read and consistent with our message for Dominium Capital clients.

19.01.2022 I'm calling it... "COVID LAZY". I'm only posting this as a point on business management (rather than some sort of whinge). I know it's been hard through this pandemic - and being based in Victoria, we know all about being "locked down"! BUT, I can't help thinking COVID has become an excuse for poor service in some settings.... Generally speaking, I've found larger institutions were quick on the "sorry if we're slow to reply, but we're all working from home" routine - but, now I'm finding some small business operators doing the same thing. And I would think that they can't afford that mindset. Now, I believe it's largely unintentional. However, I've been on the end of three "service failures" this week, from small business operators that I am trying to give work to (that is - pay them!). It seems their apathy has come about, almost, from having formed a habit of "not being available" for work. Further, when mildly pushed on "what else do they have on?", the answers are pretty vague - they're not even sure why they can't get to something at the moment. Now, this inability to (do certain) work (at least in their prior, normal sense/routine) has been forced upon them, due to lockdown, and I understand that. BUT, I thought it worth making comment that we should all beware COVID LAZY and ensure it doesn't become "the norm"! COVID has spawned some truly inspiring business innovation and responses; many of our clients have demonstrated that; unfortunately, as a customer, I am also seeing some very uninspiring responses and I am calling it COVID LAZY. Don't use COVID as reason to not be your best! Avoid COVD LAZY.

19.01.2022 Some interesting points here - we’d agree with all of these points, but some salient thoughts for retail investors to heed. Bitcoin Is Not Money, Pimco's Crescenzi Says https://www.bloomberg.com//bitcoin-is-not-money-pimco-s-cr

18.01.2022 We are not trying to be alarmist in the current environment; however, we were informed last night that one our lending partners has restricted the amounts they will offer business clients for Lines of Credit and Small Business Loans, due to the risk posed by COVID-19. To this end, we would encourage you to speak to your lender sooner rather than later, if you feel the need to establish a credit facility to assist you in getting through this tough time. Alternatively, please message us if you think we may be able to assist you in accessing business credit facilities (T&Cs apply of course).

17.01.2022 According to recent research, only about half of Australia's home loan holders know their interest rate. Knowledge is power, and knowing your interest rate is the first step to optimising your home loan - if it's not already. Get in touch to find out how competitive your home loan is, and whether it's supporting your overarching investment strategy.

17.01.2022 A very clear directive from the RBAs Philip Lowe. After setting the cash rate to just 0.10% (down from 0.25% last month) the RBA aren't confident the big banks will pass the savings on, and so are urging people with a home loan to vote with their feet. Now is the perfect time to examine whether your current bank is really doing the right thing by you. Get in touch if you'd like help navigating to a better option.

16.01.2022 Interesting article. https://www.afr.com//this-pandemic-will-make-a-large-propo

15.01.2022 Interesting article. At Dominium Capital, we're still positive on equities, generally speaking, for calendar year 2020. https://www.afr.com//how-fundies-are-trading-the-virus-202

14.01.2022 1 in 6 Australians are eying off a move to the country, at least according to recent survey rates from PIPAs Property investment survey. How about you? Has 2020 changed where you want to live?

11.01.2022 And no more so than in the world of finance. If you haven't reviewed your home loan recently then chances are you're missing out. Banks are constantly trying to innovate their products and compete for market share - so the home loan you originally signed on for isn't necessarily the ideal one for you today.... 08.01.2022 We have raised this issue in discussions with clients on a number of occasions and glad to see something might actually be done about it. 93% weighting to growth assets in a so-called balanced’ fund?? 06.01.2022 Compound interest has been described as the eighth wonder of the world: Those who understand it, earn it. Those who don’t, pay it. If you've got personal loans and credit cards, compound interest is why it may seem like you're barely chipping away at those debts. It's the thing that's sapping your disposable income, dampening your savings efforts, and diverting resources from your investments.... Get in touch with us if you'd like help earning compound interest - instead of paying it. https://dominiumcapital.com.au/

04.01.2022 Loyalty is a noble trait, no doubt. But when it comes to your bank, being loyal may mean you're throwing away thousands of dollars each year. Reviewing your home loan and either renegotiating better terms, or switching to another lender, can save thousands of dollars in interest repayments and/or shave years off the life of your loan.... 01.01.2022 Are interest rates the be all and end all? In the wise words of the world's most down-to-earth multi-billionaire, Warren Buffett: price is what you pay, value is what you get. You might see loans out there with extremely low interest rates. These are usually no-frills loans that you may find restrictive later on. Some lenders will reserve their lowest interest rates for their lowest risk customers. So if you work in a certain industry, or you have an impeccable credit histor...y with a hefty deposit, then perhaps you'd qualify for a super low rate. Speak to us if you want help deciphering the various loan products. We're here to help you find a loan you can live with! See more
