Mark’s story: What started as feeling very lethargic with a slight cough, rapidly turned into something life threatening. Mark felt run down over the Christmas and New year break, so he went with his wife to her doctor’s appointment, where a routine blood test was ordered for him. That same day the pathologist called Mark and told him to head straight to the hospital. Which he did, he went to the Redcliffe Hospital, following a few tests, he was sent directly to the Royal Brisbane Hospital. The following day he was formally diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). There are a lot of variations of leukemia and unfortunately the one he has is rare in adults, which makes treatment a little more complex. His chemotherapy treatments started 3 days following diagnoses, and they expect he will have to remain in hospital for at least a month to start with. He will then require ongoing admittances to hospital for Chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant and frequent tests. They expect he will be off work for at least 12 months. Sarah and Mark live 35km from the hospital, so, about a 40-minute trip each way depending on traffic. Whilst Sarah continues to care for their two children at home, Deakin 8 and Kalina 4, she is also travelling in to see Mark every day. She too has had to take some time off work. Mark is a hard-working family man and they are a fiercely independent family, who have worked hard every day for everything they have. No one expects or wants to ask for financial help, but they will need it during this trying time. Even with insurance cover, there are waiting periods and additional travel expenses and costs involved in this fight. Funds raised will help with bills, parking / travel and general family running costs.

13.01.2022 At Dominos, were committed to the safety of our staff and customers. Thats why we have put some extra measures in place to ensure this. Starting today, 100% of our deliveries will be contactless. This means that our drivers will put your delivery in a safe place (on top of a empty pizza box), stand back 2 meters and call you when its ready to be collected. We are still open for takeaway pick up, but this will also be contactless. This means that our customers will stand... behind the line in our foyer, once the order is placed on the counter by our staff, they will step back and allow you to collect. We ask that payment by cash to avoided and PayPass is preferred. We have also installed a new screen and speakers outside, so you can see if your order is ready by waiting outside, we ask that for the safety of yourself and staff, that you wait outside until your order is ready. We are doing our part to keep you and your food safe too, we will wipe down and sanitise all benches, utensils and handles every hour (at a minimum) and leave our front door open during busy times. Our pizzas our cooked above 260 degrees, this process will kill any potential bacteria and is not touched again after coming out of the even. Our responsibility to keep you and your food safe, is our number 1 priority right now. Rest assured we are doing what we can to make sure this happens.
