Points are achieved by small and big achievements they make based on technique, positive attitude and hard work throughout their piano lessons week by week. It is a great way for them to know they are progressing in each segment of their learning. Positive reinforcement on good and bad days does wonders, and although they are self motivated and progressing really well, sometimes they need a way... to realise it themselves as learning a new instrument can be quiete difficult and daunting, requiring much discipline and consistent effort every day with practice and focus. They truly deserved and earnt it! 12.01.2022 Here is my student Marissa accompanying the CD from one of the Encore on Keys book. She has been playing piano for only two terms. After learning the piano section of this piece, she is now learning to play the keyboard accompaniment section on the glockenspiel. The idea of moving away from the piano to another instrument is to remove tension issues that most students have first starting out. It is incredibly difficult to get the beautiful ringing sound on a glockenspiel with... body tension. Like all instruments, a relaxed body and arm position is the key to gaining control and clarity of the notes. Her progress can be seen in lessons first struggling to play the faster section in time from the middle to the end of the piece with tension, to training to relax those arms and having better control over the rhythm and sound. Music is not just playing the right notes from a piece but the overall sound of those phrases and melodies. There is so much room for progress and learning, and I have no doubt she will achieve greatness with the hard work she puts week by week. I am impressed with her progress.
