22.01.2022 WOMEN'S HEAD COACH POSITION An exciting opportunity! We are seeking expressions of interest for the role of Women’s Head Coach for the 2020-21 season. We have been blessed for many years with phenomenal leadership in our women’s program. Unfortunately, neither Urs Howard (Women’s Head Coach 2017-20) nor Amy McCann (high performance manager and 1sts coach 2019-20) are able to continue in these roles in the upcoming summer season. We thank them both for their contributions, wh...ich culminated in our Div 2 premiership last season. We are seeking a new Women’s Head Coach who will help build on the positive Club culture and position the women’s program for on- and off-field success at all levels, through the continued development of our junior and experienced female players. Interested applicants should contact the President, Craig Hutton, at [email protected] or 0412 401 274 by Oct 16 to express your interest and receive a full position description.

21.01.2022 See below for a simple point form of the changes to restrictions from tomorrow

21.01.2022 How about this view from the New York Mets training base in the Dominican Republic where former import and club favourite Richie Benes works as a hitting instructor?! Hurry up and fill the quarry! Hey we can dream right?

21.01.2022 Congratulations to Jess Johnson on winning the Home Run award for last Summer’s Women’s Division 1 season!

20.01.2022 New Women's Head Coach We are pleased to announce the new Women's Head Coach for the 2020-21 season will be Andy Weller. After coaching the women's 2s for several years, culminating in the Div 2 Premiership last year, we couldn't have asked for anyone better to take up this role for the upcoming season. Here's looking forward to an exciting, albeit somewhat shortened, post-lockdown summer season! Huge thanks to Urs Howard for her contributions as Women's Head Coach over past three years, and to Amy McCann for being 1s gameday coach last season.

20.01.2022 Those perfect Christmas present feels!

18.01.2022 Hey Dragons! One of our favourite sons returns!!! After our men kicked off the season with a great 15-4 win last night we will play our first home game of the Baseball Victoria Victorian Summer Baseball League this Sunday with Daniel McGrath making the start! His last appearance was for the Boston Red Sox in spring training and he is gearing up for the Melbourne Aces season. It's great to have him back in the Dragons uniform! Game time is 3.30pm.

18.01.2022 It's been a long, tough year, but Doncaster Baseball Club is looking for ways to help you get back on the diamond. With face coverings still mandated for baseball, thanks to a grant from Manningham Council we are now in a position to offer a gaiter or mask to all registered players! These will also be available for parents/supporters to purchase from the Dragons TeamApp store. Additionally, we are endeavouring to set fees at ~70% of last year (with the club fee component ~50%). Fees will be set once BV finalises their fees and they are uploaded in the registration system, hopefully within a week.

16.01.2022 This is relevant today more than ever. We hope everyone is doing well.

10.01.2022 With the weather warming up, we’re all hoping that we can get back to baseball soon. We still do not have access to the clubrooms or batting cage and can’t gather in groups for training. Baseball Victoria is continuing to monitor the situation and is in regular contact with clubs. There are no details on the summer season yet. We’re hoping to be able to start summer training soon after restrictions are lifted. In the meantime, try to stay loose in hopes we can get back on the diamond soon!

10.01.2022 We’ve been getting many calls and messages about who to see at Bendigo Bank for a rate comparison. Their rates are very competitive too! Please see the numbers below. Please mention the club when you do. Doncaster East & Templestowe Village Community Bank Branches

10.01.2022 Like most sporting clubs, Doncaster Baseball Club relies on volunteers to operate. From the person cooking the BBQ to groundskeepers, scorers, coaches (both game day and training), bar & canteen managers and helpers, uniform coordinator, board members and everyone else who helps out the club could not operate without volunteers. There is a LOT of time spent behind the scenes to ensure the best possible game day experience for all players and spectators. We are appreciative of ALL of our volunteers! If you get a chance this weekend thank a volunteer!

10.01.2022 Something from left field! If isolation blues are getting to you, this might be the perfect pick me up Watch Phillip Island’s world famous Fairy Penguin parade tomorrow evening at 6.00pm on the link below!!!

09.01.2022 Hey Dragons! The donation page is now active and you can transfer your committed funds when you are ready.

08.01.2022 We’re getting closer to getting back on the field! Following recent announcements on the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, Baseball Victoria continues to consult with Sport and Recreation Victoria to confirm details of how these updates apply to baseball across the state. While the dates and restrictions are subject to change, currently the Victorian Government will ease restrictions for community sport on Sunday, 1 November 2020, when juniors will be able to return to full tr...aining and seniors can commence non-contact training in metropolitan Melbourne. ALL players, coaches, volunteers, and officials are asked to register for Back to Training to help teams and clubs make sure they are ready to play in a COVID-safe environment. You can register here - https://regoform.mygameday.app/ - or via the Dragons Registration button on Team App. Back to Training is free and ensures that players and the club are covered by insurance. You need to register before attending training even if you registered for winter. You can view the BV frequently asked questions, which are regularly updated: https://baseballvictoria.com.au/bv-covid-19-faq/

07.01.2022 It’s been a bases loaded walk off balk kind of year but we wish all of our Dragons and extended Dragons family a very Merry Christmas! If Santa brings you some new equipment, post a picture below!

05.01.2022 We’re almost there!

04.01.2022 While we are still waiting on specific details from the State Govt and Baseball Victoria, things are looking hopeful for the summer season to get started soon. Tentative plans are for training to start after Oct 19 (subject to government approval) and the season to start approximately mid-November. There are no details yet on how long the season will go, specific dates or fees. If fees are likely to impact whether you can play, please let us know. In order to start planning, we would like to know who is keen to play summer baseball. Could you please complete the brief Team App survey? https://doncasterdragons.teamapp.com//surveys/36586/r/new

04.01.2022 Slowly slowly it’s opening back up. Stay safe Dragons.

03.01.2022 With most clubs starting up training this week we have a few keys things to announce for the upcoming season. 1 - Little League Minor A/B - Friday nights. The 6.../7 per side games that we introduced last year will run again this season. This was an overwhelming success and we expect more excitement (and Home Runs) this year. We have made some very minor adjustments from what we learnt last year. 2 - Little League Major - Move to Friday nights In an exciting development LL Major will move to Friday night. This will keep all players from aged 7-12 on Friday through their Little League journey with the hope to grow entry into our sport over the new few years. It will bolster our Intermediate division with players able to play both divisions. We have already had a upsurge in interest from most clubs. 3 - Intermediate and Junior League - Sunday Morning Our older age groups will continue on Sunday morning with strong representation from all clubs. 4 - Charter baseball will look different this year. We will keep you posted as we find out more information from Baseball Victoria. Remember to be COVID safe as we enter into a great summer of baseball. Have fun back in training and we look forward to games starting soon.

03.01.2022 PAVILION FUNDRAISER Our clubroom rebuild is progressing with architects now appointed, so we should receive draft plans very soon. We received an amazing amount of support during our fundraising drive and now is the time to convert those pledges into donations! If you haven't already done so can you please make your donations through the Australian Sports Foundation: https://asf.org.au/projects/doncaster-baseball-club/ If you were unable to pledge earlier in the year but are now in a position to do so you can still donate through the ASF and receive a personalised paver for any donation of $250.

03.01.2022 Congratulations to Bronwyn Gell for winning the pitching award for last summer’s women’s Division 1 season!
