14.01.2022 Today is RU OK? Day. We know that so many people are struggling at the moment, and we can all help. You don’t have to be an expert, but by knowing what to say when someone says they're not OK you can you can show you care and genuinely help someone access appropriate support long before they’re in crisis. That conversation could change, or even save, their life. By asking, listening without judgement, encouraging action and checking in, you can help someone you care about t...hrough a tough time. We encourage everyone to check out the resources at www.ruok.org.au. RU OK?

12.01.2022 The Board of Manningham Community Enterprises Ltd have announced Doreen Stoves AM PSM JP as the recipient of the Ray Lord Community Award for 2020. With 50 years of community service and 19 years as CEO with Doncare, Doreen’s commitment to assisting the vulnerable and disadvantaged throughout Manningham is unparalleled. We have worked closely with Doreen and the Doncare team across many projects to assist their critical community support initiatives. Due to restrictions the award was presented virtually by Jean Lord at our recent Board meeting. Doreen’s name will be inscribed on the honor boards in both the Doncaster East and Templestowe Village Community Bank branches. Congratulations Doreen and thank you for your outstanding dedication to this community!

12.01.2022 Very happy to share a good news story from our customers Cope Ag Pty Ltd! They do a lot of maintenance and civil work for councils, and stage 4 has restricted what the boys can do. Here's what Tony had to say: "There is no doubt that Covid 19 has had a dramatic effect in the workplace. We have slowed a little but the restrictions in place have reduced the work we can do and caused a considerable amount of idle time. There are only so many times you can sweep the floor. I di...d notice a change in the staff members. The change in our normally very busy workplace, the tearoom was not the noisy chatter, the office albeit that some are working from home is quieter and the questions of me about our work for next week were unusual from young guys who work hard for the week end. People were being affected by the grim situation that is Covid 19. The mental health of my staff concerned me greatly, so much so it caused me to lose sleep. Thus, their mental health was affecting my mental health. I was probably less concerned than them about the viability of the business because I have a deeper insight of the business and, I am confident we can get through this thing. I came up with an idea. With the help of the good people at the Bendigo Bank Doncaster, I was able to withdraw the cash at short notice and bought a project for them. I purchased an old classic truck sight unseen in need of restoration. Due to the restrictions on travel I was unable to inspect it. Now sight unseen would normally concern most people. I had looked at the pictures on the internet, but in this case the more things that needed fixing the better. In the meantime, I informed the crew of the project. This particular model of truck was significant as it was almost identical to the one, we’d bought to start our business over thirty years ago. A picture of which is prominent in the office. It was my gift to them. They are to make their own decisions as a group as to how it is restored. I know that they will take pride in their workmanship. This truck will be a thing of beauty. The truck arrived to genuine excitement about the project. The guys stayed back after work. I reckon that truck was cleaned as never before, it was moved to its own corner of the factory, a bar fridge (apparently necessary with such work) was found, the wheels were off and the restoration underway. The conversation in the tearoom this morning was what historic truck club are we joining and who was driving it to the first show. I think this small project will be worth every dollar it costs me, it’s generated a new enthusiasm amongst the guys, made some darker days brighter and probably would never have happened if not for a pandemic." Well done Cope Ag! See more
