25.01.2022 Hi Parents, I thought I would let you all know that as of tomorrow, Monday 17th August, that access to Stanmore Road from Peachy Road will be closed until early October. This may mean it will take a little longer to get to the swim school if you use Peachy Road. If you use this route there are alternative routes which may take a little longer. I have marked on the attached map the following routes. The area marked red on Peachy Road is where the closure is.... Route 1: Green. From Peachy Road turn right into Sandy Creek Road. This will take you to Darlington Drive in which you turn left onto and then left at the roundabout to get onto Stanmore Road. Route 2: Purple. From Peachy Road, before reaching Sandy Creek Road turn off, turn right into Pearson Road. Follow this road to the end and turn left onto Darlington Road. When you reach the roundabout on Darlington, turn left onto Stanmore Road. Route 3: Yellow/Orange From Peachy Road turn right onto Pascoe Road. This will take you past Coles shopping centre at Norfolk. Turn left at roundabout onto Cuthbert Drive. Stay on Cuthbert drive, ( second exit off roundabout ). Turn left onto Darlington Drive beside the brewery and follow to the end. Turn left at roundabout onto Stanmore Road. Not marked on the map is the option to come up the highway to the Yatala North Exit number 38 and turn left to get onto Stanmore Road. I hope this helps. Cheers Donna.

21.01.2022 This is not swimming related but thought I would post here first in case someone on here would be interested. Selling Peppertown Playground. $300. There are no swings or slide but they can be purchased elsewhere to add on to it. It is held in the ground by one pole cemented in ground at the swing end. The rest of it just sits on the ground. It needs some TLC - maybe sanding.

07.01.2022 23rd March 2020 Dear Families, Since Friday I have been struggling over the decision to continue or to stop. Constantly referring to the Australian Swim School Association, Swim Australia and the Government Health Authorities for guidance with this decision.... Today I have come to a decision that I hope you will all support. I will end lessons effective of Tuesday 24th March 2020. In following the advice from Qld Health, ASSA, Swim Australia and other health organisations I will re-open when it is deemed safe to do so. Students will keep their current class day and time when lessons resume. Parents will be given a credit towards the next term payment for the lessons that have been cancelled this week and next week. As we continue to work through this together, please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. [email protected] Please stay safe during this unprecedented time. Kind Regards, Donna Garman [email protected]

04.01.2022 Dear Families We will never put the health of your child, you or your family at risk. There is no current advice to avoid small gatherings or stop going to school or childcare or church or swimming etc. ... We have plans in place for these challenging times and will be guided by advice provided by the Federal Government, the QLD Health Department, along with other Australian swimming governing bodies. We will always put the health and safety of our clients first and we are currently doing all we can to keep the centre very clean. We are extremely conscious of hygiene at the pool at any time, and have, in line with recommendations, ramped up our cleaning and cleansing routines. We have provided soap in the toilet and bathroom to wash your hands thoroughly. We urge children or parents who may have a slight cold (not coronavirus) to not come to class to minimise the risk of spreading any germs. We know a lot of you already do this and we appreciate it. In the event Qld Health or other Government authority advises us to close then we will do as we are told. As will all those in the community. We will isolate in our homes and suspend lessons for the required period of time. We will reopen when we are advised to do so and when it is considered safe for all concerned. We are a small family business that is not benefiting from the Governments recent stimulus package and call upon our families to remain calm and continue to support us. If families are not at risk, do not fall into the high risk category and their children are still attending school, preschool or such things as ballet, church, AFL, Soccer etc., but choose to stop swimming then our business will be impacted. Sensible, calm and rational, decisions will prevent this from happening. In the event of any closure we will suspend lessons and start up again when we are told it is safe for us to do so. If we must close for several weeks then we will stop and start again, just like everyone else. We urge you to take advantage of the information contained on the following websites: QLD Health http://conditions.health.qld.gov.au//217/838/novel-coronav QLD Government https://www.qld.gov.au//conditions/he/coronavirus-covid-19 Federal Government https://www.health.gov.au/healt/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov These websites contain up to the minute information and advice, including: a self-assessment for risk of coronavirus (COVID-19), ways to reduce your risk to coronavirus, what it is who is at risk what you need to do if asked to self -isolate how the Infection spreads symptoms how to prepare There is no question these are worrying times, but together with calm and sensible responses and accepting sound advice from the Health Department, we will all get through this. Panic and hysteria are not the way forward. Cheers Donna Donna Garman Swim School

03.01.2022 MAY UPDATE Hello Parents, I hope you are all doing well and enjoying some of the relaxed restrictions. ... After last Fridays announcement of Stage One lifting of restrictions that come into effect as of midnight tonight, Friday 15th May, I have been consistently reading and listening to what the various Australian Swim and Qld Government authorities have been saying in regards to what stage swim schools can safely reopen. At present the general consensus seems to be when Stage 3 of lifting restrictions comes into effect. This is due to the hands on and physical contact that instructors need to implement when teaching non swimmers. By waiting for Stage 3, Term 3, we will know if the virus has been contained well enough for swim lessons to return safely without the threat of having to stop again. This means reopening Monday 13th July - start of Term 3. If the restrictions change in any way that allow me to open earlier than 13th July or that the restart date gets pushed further out for any reason I will let you all know ASAP. Start Monday 13th July Term 3 This would be a 10 week term. It is during the colder months of the year and I know that some of the kids dont swim during winter. Also I understand that some parents may be apprehensive about swimming through the colder months with COVID19 still present in the community. I am also aware that financially due to COVID19 that some families may not be able to afford to return to lessons at the moment. So I would like to have an idea of numbers swimming so I can plan out class days and times. Please message, text or email me with your thoughts on when your child/ren will return. There will be some changes at the swim school due to COVID19 but I will post these details in another post closer to opening. Looking forward to getting back in the pool. Cheers Donna.
