17.01.2022 The last few months have been difficult, and the measures we've needed to put in place have been completely unprecedented. I know those restrictions have been d...evastating for many people in our community. I’m so sorry for that. It breaks my heart, each and every day. I never wanted to have to make these kinds of decisions as Premier, and if I could, I would lift every restriction immediately. But we must be responsible, and we must listen to the health advice and make careful, considered decisions as our State moves forwards. Today we've announced the next phase of easing restrictions, which will take effect on Saturday 6 June. At that time, many of the businesses which have been forced to close will be able to reopen and resume services. Among a range of other changes, it will mean that beauty therapy and personal care services can resume in Western Australia. That includes all beauty services including nail services, tanning, waxing, tatooing and piercing. Saunas, bath houses, float centres and wellness centres to reopen, in line with the 100/300 gathering limits and the revised two square metre rule. When providing beauty therapy and personal care services there must be a distance of at least 1.5 metres between each set of client and staff receiving treatment and every other set of client and staff. Businesses which are reopening under these changes will need to complete a COVID Safety Plan. I hope it will mean many more businesses will be able to open and help get Western Australians back to work.
