24.01.2022 After sending lots of emails I finally have a face to face meeting scheduled with Stephen Jones our Federal Member on Tuesday to help AFTA in their proposals to request government assistance to keep the Travel Industry afloat to make it through this. We are one of only 3 countries in the world to still have our international borders closed and the only country in the world prohibiting domestic travel. This petition was initially industry based, but has since been circulated... amongst the general public to sign. Please consider signing the petition to safely reopen state borders See more

19.01.2022 Good news... Hawaii is scheduled to reopen for tourism on the 15th of October. While this doesn’t help us with our closed borders, (so we can’t break out the mai tais yet ), it is encouraging to see other countries & popular holiday zones reopening. A no less than 72 hour negative covid test is required to be produced on arrival to avoid self quarantine or a covid test is to be taken on arrival and pax should self quarantine until a negative result is received.

19.01.2022 GOOD TIMES ARE ON THE HORIZON: All of our Australian state borders and territories (except for WA which will hopefully follow ASAP to NSW & VIC ) will be open by Christmas.

19.01.2022 Love love love collecting Christmas tree ornaments in my travels! I have just a few here in this pic. Antarctica bauble purchased on the expedition ship n the Antarctic peninsula, a reindeer ornament made by the Inuit people in the Arctic our of reindeer antler. A family ornament from Disneyland a few trips ago when the kids were little, one from Kauai ( my favorite Hawaiian Island ) and a little tiny nativity set which was handmade and hand painted in Mexico. Does anyone else have interesting decorations from around the world in their travels taking pride of place on their trees? #christmas #christmasaroundtheworld ##christmastime #traveltheworld #traveltheworldwithme #donnajonestravelcounsellors #donnajonestraveldesign

My friends at Tierra Negra Cooking in Buenos Aires, Argentina are running an online empanada cooking class. My colleague & I have done this with Manu in Buenos Aires at Manu’s cooking school. It was so much fun and the empanadas were beautiful. The link is on here if you would like to book it in for midday Sydney time on Saturday the 3rd of October. You’ll be sent a list of ingredients to have ready once you have booked in. I’ll be there ( virtually ) as well to do a refresher! See you there! Happy South American cooking!

06.01.2022 Black Friday is just a couple of days away. Bring a relatively new concept here in Australia, I find that most people don’t know what Black Friday actually is. Black Friday follows the American holiday and celebration of Thanksgiving. Traditionally born out of the USA, Black Friday represents the official first shopping day of the Christmas season and begins just after the stroke of midnight on the Friday after Thanksgiving which falls on the last Thursday in November. The... actual American history of the meaning of Black Friday marks the USA Gold market crash in 1869. Therefore Black Friday is in fact an American tradition that has made its way to us and represents some fab savings. While we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here, it still gives us the opportunity to be thankful and to pick up some great bargains as well! This includes the travel industry. We have some great deals coming up on Black Friday too. I thought I would share this amazing pumpkin pie recipe with you which was sent to me by our partners in California. Pumpkin pie is the traditional desert of Thanksgiving and is so good! If you haven’t tried it, give this recipe a go. You won’t be disappointed. Enjoy! D xx

06.01.2022 Well... I wonder if we’ll think twice before we eat some strange exotic or just plain weird food anymore when we travel. This is my hubby eating grasshoppers when we were recently in Japan. Actually they weren’t too bad! We can add it to the list of Mexican grasshoppers with street tacos, possum, crocodile, emu, ants and buffalo. What’s the weirdest thing you have eaten while in holiday? ( no judgement I promise )

01.01.2022 Flashback Friday today comes from beautiful Venice, Italy. 2 of my kids are in the gondola with us in this quick clip. Venice is one of the most unique cities in the world & is a must experience when the world opens back up again. What we have right now is time to think, dream and plan for our travels post Covid. Venice is also the gateway to Adriatic Sea Cruises, opening up a wonderful range of options to extend your next European holiday experience. Love Italy
