25.01.2022 Childrens Day 2020 is a chance for everyone to celebrate the uniqueness and importance of the knowledge and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peo...ples, starting in childhood. Hearing childrens voices today plays a crucial role in their development towards being influential Elders and leaders of the future. SNAICC-National Voice for our Children have many fun ways to get involved, activities, and resources to help you celebrate: https://bit.ly/ChildrensDay2020Activities #StrongInCulture #EldersOfTomorrow #Reconciliation

21.01.2022 Sensory avoiders often struggle when it comes to eating. This is not just "picky eating"... it's "sensory eating" because it is a direct response to sensory ove...rstimulation (either in the past or present). As an adult sensory avoider, I struggle with this myself, so I know how overwhelming mealtime can be. (It's a lot easier now that I get to control my meals.) I created this resource to help parents/caregivers who have sensory eaters. You can download a printable version of this resource and find more SPD resources at nicolefilipponeauthor.com #sensorystories #sensorysupport #sensorylife #sensoryavoider #sensorysensitive #sensoryanxiety #spdawareness #sensoryprocessingdisorder #sensoryprocessingdisorderparentsupport #autismawareness #autismacceptance #autismsupport #autismeducation #autismspectrum #neurodivergent #neurodiversity #neurodiversityacceptance #occupationaltherapy #otforkids #occupationaltherapist

20.01.2022 Always a good reminder. https://www.yourmodernfamily.com/way-talk-children-becomes/

18.01.2022 "The way we talk to our children becomes their inner voice." Peggy OMara Carrying on from this mornings meme, this meme uses Elizabeth Earnshaws same model w...ith different examples. This time the focus is more on the ways we speak to our little boys. Society seems to have a problem with raising boys so that they retain the sensitivity they are ALL born with. Since so much of how we shape and bend our children comes from our warm physical nurturing and the communication we send them, maybe it is time to look at the ways in which we speak to our boys while they are working out what it is to BE a boy child. Remember, our looks at them, our comforting of them, our labels for them, our descriptions of them, our expectations of them this is all the data they have to go on as they construct their own self image, their worth, and their place in the family and society.

15.01.2022 The next time your child has a sensory meltdown try and remember all of the times in your life that you have not felt comfortable in your own skin. Because, at ...the core of it, all they really want is the ability to feel comfortable in their own body. #sensorystories #sensorysupport #sensorylife #neurodiversity #neurodiversityacceptance #disabilityawareness #sensoryavoider #sensoryseeker #sensorysensitive #sensoryprocessingdisorder #spdawareness #differentlywired #sensoryprocessingdisorderparentsupport #sensoryprocessingdisorderawareness #autismacceptance #autismawareness #autismsupport #autismeducation #autismspectrum #specialeducators

05.01.2022 This is probably one of the most important memes I've shared. As a sensory avoider, I have said "no" a lot in my life... I wish I could say people respected my ..."no" more often than they actually did when I was a child. Children need to feel respected when they say no. Just because adults are technically "in charge," doesn't mean they get to decide what type of physical touch a child experiences... even if it's coming from a loving place.
