24.01.2022 Let's switch on your gratitude button this year - and you can do this with a simple and highly effective strategy. Gratitude is one of the practices I share in my keynote talks to help people thrive in their lives. There's also a lot of research which confirms that gratitude makes an impact on our happiness: #gratitude Here's how you can boost your happiness for free: https://donnathistlethwaite.com.au/boost-your-happiness-fo/... #gratitude

23.01.2022 Social media can be quite tough on some people's mental health so I just love it when people use their social media platforms to do some good! That's exactly what The Australian Larder does - the goal of this page is to support people who might be on their own or feeling lonely. The support comes in the form of Facebook Live cooking sessions every Monday, Wednesday and Sunday at 5.35pm AEST. Set your reminders to join one of the Facebook Lives this week for a great recipe a...nd to help lift your spirits. If you know of any other pages or people using their platforms to help people feel more positive or supporting mental health, please tag them in the comments! https://www.facebook.com/theaustralianlarder/
23.01.2022 You've probably heard the famous Jim Rohn's quote, "We are the average of the five people we spend the most amount of time with"... But, what if you don't have a five? I've put together five tips to help you discover your five this year: https://donnathistlethwaite.com.au/who-you-gonna-call/ #buildingconnections #relationships #mentalhealth #wellbeing
21.01.2022 Friends, aren’t they the best? Do you have some awesome friends in your life? Do you spend enough time enjoying them? Is it time to arrange a gathering, especially now the Covid restrictions have eased? The weekend just gone was our friendship group’s annual Friend’s Christmas celebration. This is a weekend that truly fills my cup. We have a tradition that’s been going for 15 years where we all bring a recycled gift for a Secret Santa. The gift needs to come from either hom...e or cost $10 or less from an op shop. During the evening we all drop our wrapped presents into the growing colourful pile and later we draw numbers to determine the order to select a present. Everyone is allowed to steal once from the gifts that were opened before theirs. The much coveted number one gets to choose from everything! There is so much laughter as friends parade their gifts around the circle while inspecting those already open to work out whether there’s something they’d rather. The group chants swap, swap, swap, especially when the gift is naf, and there’s inevitably a few, which adds to the humour of it all. Connection with others is a protective factor from mental illness and it can be a lot of fun. If you’re not feeling connected right now ask yourself what you can do about that? Sometimes it’s as simple as picking up the phone. Are you ‘giving’ what it is that you want in the world? #wellbeing #connection #mentalhealth

21.01.2022 Isn't that an incredible thing to realise? Happiness just grows exponentially when we share it with those around us. Who is someone that made you happy today or what is something that made you smile? #WednesdayWisdom #Happiness
20.01.2022 One of the reasons we chose an alternative school for our child came out of a session at the Career Development Association's annual conference in 2013. Professor Martin Westwell presented the predictors of university success (not that university is the path for all) ... The strongest predictor (above IQ, primary school grades, etc, etc) was SELF EFFICACY. This is the belief that we are capable of doing something and it can enable us to achieve big things. Couple that with desire and you will be unstoppable. #wellbeing #careers
20.01.2022 Imagine where we would be if people listened when people told them it was impossible? Well, I wouldn't be sharing this post and sharing my message throughout Australia and connecting with people around the world. I hope we can all find strength within ourselves this year to think a bit bigger and really move forward with determination and courage. The moment I stopped thinking "small", life changed. It became about the bigger picture and I saw what my life's journey was all about. #mondaymotivation #thinkbig
19.01.2022 With 45% of Australians experiencing a mental health problem over our lifetimes (pre-Covid stats), many of us can find ourselves supporting someone we love who's struggling. In today's blog I share some tips for doing so while maintaining your own wellbeing. https://donnathistlethwaite.com.au/how-do-i-help-my-strugg/ #mentalhealth #wellbeing

17.01.2022 Many of the people I cross paths with are saying that they're finding themselves overthinking right now. It's so normal given the change and uncertainity in the world. 16.01.2022 Reviews are undoubtably a big part of a business: everyone has access to them and it can make or break your work. Reviews are undoubtedly a big part of a business: everyone has access to them and it can make or break your work. ve worked with. If I can encourage just one person in the group to check in regularly with their own mental health and wellbeing, it's a job well done.
16.01.2022 The world needs more cheerleaders and less referees. How amazing is it when someone gives you a compliment or positive feedback? Never underestimate the positive impact a little encouragement can make in someone's life, or the negative impact that criticising others can have on them and on your own wellbeing.... Now go out there and encourage someone! (This post was inspired by one I read in the Love Out Loud group recently.)
16.01.2022 Have you been dreaming of sporting a mullet? Now you have an opportunity to do it under the guise of charity! (I truly cannot believe that I am promoting the mullet but I do love a good cause and let's Black Dog Institute definitely falls into that category!) #mentalhealth #wellbeing #suicideprevention
14.01.2022 Are your interested in knowing how to be there more for the people in your life? If you're not already, consider empathy. Practicing empathy builds connection and allows us to support others in the most powerful way. It differs greatly from sympathy which is what many of us tend to offer when someone opens up to us. Sympathy separates whereas empathy builds togetherness. This amazing video by Brene Brown explains the two. I love her comment that empathy never starts with "At ...least". Have a wonderful day! #wellbeing #mentalhealth #suicideprevention https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Evwgu369Jw
14.01.2022 Happy Monday! What are you going to create this week? Wishing you an amazing one. #wellbeing #wecancreateourlife
13.01.2022 Connection is everything. Connection to ourselves, connection with other humans and connection to all that lives around us. Do you ever feel lonely amidst a world filled with other people some of whom you care about deeply? This is how I felt for the longest time. It took someone reflecting back to me that I was seeking something I wasn't giving for me to realise that I can create connection in my life. In the words of Ghandi "Be the change you want to see in the world". Have a beautiful day.
13.01.2022 Over the weekend I created a handball court in our garage for our 10 year old son, Matthew. It involved going to Bunnings to buy coloured masking tape, measuring it all out with him and fixing the tape in straight lines to our garage floor, followed by a few rounds of handball with his mum and dad. I was quite happy with our work and excited that I had done something for him. Yesterday morning my bubble burst when he said "I wish the handball court was bigger" when I had rea...lly hoped that he’d be in gratitude for the new handball court. We had a good chat about it but I still felt emotional as I went into my big work day. I worked on my state throughout the day, sitting in the sun, taking breaks, listening to music, etc. This morning I woke up with a commitment to be in LOVE today - love for the clients I'm facilitating this morning, love for my family, love for myself and love for the world. Matthew's first words this morning were "I feel so happy". I asked "Is that because it's your technology afternoon?" and he replied "No because I'm alive". Today I’m in gratitude for a beautiful start to the day. Wishing you a day filled with love and gratitude too! #wellbeing #love #gratitude See more

10.01.2022 Love what Hack reporter, Stephen Stockwell, is doing to raise money for Black Dog Institute! And how cool is this Brisbane barber shop? #mulletsformentalhealth #mentalhealth #wellbeing... https://www.abc.net.au//hack/mullets-for-mental-h/12686430
09.01.2022 What are you grateful for today? What are you celebrating? Who, or what, could you appreciate if you stopped and thought about it? Let's all raise our frequency and watch magic happen in our lives. Have the most amazing week! #wellbeing #thrive #mentalhealth
09.01.2022 I'm honoured to be featured in Health & Fitness Travel's Strong, Healthy Women Series (article link below). When the article was compiled I wasn't feeling 'myself' and it was actually quite a challenging process. I am so pleased to be back in my power and truth and to recognise that we will inevitably move in and out of being our strongest self and it's all about recognising it, identifying what's going on and getting back to equilibrium in the shortest time. #StrongHealthyWo...men #Thrive #Wellbeing https://www.healthandfitnesstravel.com.au//strong-healthy-
08.01.2022 Having great friends to share life with feels amazing and can positively affect our mental health. Who are you there for? Who's there for you? I challenge you (and me) to reach out to someone you care about today to ask how they are and/or to let them know how grateful you are to share life with them. You can post in the comments when you've done it if you feel so inclined :) #mentalhealth #wellbeing #suicideprevention
08.01.2022 Today is World Gratitude Day! Gratitude is one of the practices that totally changed my life for the better. When we practice gratitude it changes what we see in the world. Our radar (or our reticular activating system) tunes in to all the things that are great in our life. There are so many ways to practice ... a journal, a gratitude jar, calling someone to let them know you appreciate them, a board in the workplace, thank you notes ... Research has proven gratitude results in a more joyful life. Remember every day is not good but there is good in everyday. Who or what are you grateful for today?
07.01.2022 My personal experiences suggest that many organisations are not prepared for the 'unthinkable' possibility that one of their employees may die by suicide. This is a difficult topic for us to talk about but it's important that this situation is navigated sensitively, and effectively, for everyone's benefit. Like most things in business, it pays to have a plan. I have written a blog to share considerations and resources to be prepared for this 'unthinkable' occurrence. Please ...feel free to share in your networks. Link to the article is: https://bit.ly/suicideinservice #postvention #suicideawareness #suicideinservice #suicideprevention
05.01.2022 Wondering how my Stayin' Wild Challenge is going? I have to admit it's been a CHALLENGE. I've had to let go of perfection and settle for the best I can do this time around. I have managed to complete my 10K steps every day (5+ times after 9pm in the evening), have scaled our staircase somewhat regularly but the lifting heavy things and agility exercises have not been getting a look in. My plan from here is to at least try to attract some more donations to support Beyond Blue before we wrap up this challenge on Sunday. If you can spare a few dollars, please help me to support Beyond Blue to assist Australians who are struggling. You can sponsor me at: https://www.stayinwild.com/fundraiser/donnathistlethwaite
04.01.2022 Almost two weeks ago I started a four day retreat with Love Out Loud. Not the sort of retreat where you enjoy massages and spas but the kind where you take your 'stuff', face it and resolve it. I had seen our master facilitator, Love Out Loud CEO Nicole Gibson, speak over 12 months ago and her message strongly resonated with me. I knew that I wanted to learn more and be part of creating the world she envisioned - one characterised by love, connection, compassion, and truth. I... left the retreat with many insights and the skills to speak my truth while honouring the other person (an essential life and leadership skill). One of the facilitators Nicole brought in was Daniel Pauro. I've heard Dan's story of finding his gift and it's as beautiful as he is. The sound healing was amazing. Dan's running a Heart Opening Cacau Ceremony and Sound Healing in Brisbane on Sat 15 August and one at Forest Glen this weekend. If you're looking to heal, connect with your heart and find your path in life, I can highly recommend this experience. #wellbeing #mentalhealth #loveoutloud #suicideprevention
04.01.2022 A great discussion between Liz Venzin, founder and CEO of The MindShift Foundation and TV producer Chris Walker (husband to Carrie Bickmore) in which Chris shares his journey with an anxiety disorder, OCD. #wellbeing #mentalhealth
03.01.2022 Welcome to this page. So grateful and excited to have you aboard. I look forward to sharing some useful information with you here. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or if you know of any opportunities for me to spread the word about managing our mental health and building resilience.
03.01.2022 Yesterday a beautiful friend told me that a particular person thinks she's a terrible mum. Even if this was true (and it's probably not), why do we torture ourselves with these thoughts? How we interpret the world is a reflection of what's going on inside of us. When I told her that she was one of my favourite people she asked "Really, I feel like a basket case?" Believe in yourself. Don't worry about what others think, keep being and doing your best. Our brains can help us but they sure can hinder us at times. #wellbeing
02.01.2022 Happy International Women's Day to all of the amazing women in my world! This year's campaign theme is #ChooseToChallenge. Find out more at https://www.internationalwomensday.com/. "A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day.... We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world." Please tag a woman who is making a difference, achieving great things or simply deserves to be celebrated in the comments below. #ChooseToChallenge
01.01.2022 So, it's in writing on my blog, which makes it official and it's what's holding me accountable to achieving a certain goal that's been bouncing around my mind for a while ... Making this "public commitment" is quite daunting but I often speak about goal setting in my keynotes because this is one of the practices that helped transform my life - so it's time to put that into action. Find out what my "big hairy audacious goal" is for 2021 here: https://donnathistlethwaite.com.au/can-donna-reach-her-big/
01.01.2022 Welcome to this page. Thank you to those who have been following for a while and hello to those who are new! This space is where I enjoy sharing information and also encourage you to message me if you have any questions about managing mental health and building resilience.
01.01.2022 No limits ... what is it you want? My experience is that it all starts with our vision. If you don't yet have one, creating some space for it to emerge through mindfulness and meditation can be helpful. Have an amazing week. #wellbeing #youarethecreator
