24.01.2022 * UPDATE* We have had some interest to date but not enough to start a comp at this stage, if you are interested, please get your registration of interest through by the 15/01/2021 so we can look at scheduling etc. We were so close to getting an Women's competition going at the start of the season we thought we would have another shot at getting expressions of interest for a short 5 week season in term 1 of next year to generate interest in the game and see if we can build on... it in season 2021/22. The competition will be for fun, with as many teams of 5 or more we can get playing over a 5 week season starting on Monday the 1st of February 2021. Registration will be kept to as low as possible to cover court fees, referee costs and BWA registration. New players are welcome and encouraged, at all fitness levels, and all ages from 16 years old and up. Players can form their own teams, and if you are keen to play but can't generate enough numbers the committee may be able to organise a team for you to join. We have started looking at our numbers and we still have room for more players in all division so if you want to play, please register as soon as you can. We are desperately looking for players in The Boys U/16 (yr 8,9,10) and girls senior division(yr 8,9,10) so if you know anyone who wants to play please get them to register or email us on [email protected] . 19.01.2022 That's a wrap on the Mens competition for 2020. Congratulations to the "Bricks" on their come from behind win in the grand final tonight. Both the "Bricks" and the "Afro Cuban Allstars" played a great game. Thankyou again to all Players who were involved this season, it has been great to see the Men back out on the courts in Donnybrook once again, we hope next season we will be back with a bigger and better competition.... This season we have made a few changes as we believe that this is necessary to streamline our association to be played at the same standards as most associations in the south west. This season we will be offering the following Boys Divisions U/10 Years 2 & 3 U/12 Years 4 & 5 U/14 Years 6 & 7 U/16 Years 8,9 & 10 U/18 TO REGISTER IN SENIORS COMP Girls Divisions JUNIOR - YEARS 2,3 & 4 INTERMEDIATES - YEARS 5,6,7 SENIORS - YEAR 8,9 &10 Aussie Hoops - Boys and Girls Pre Primary and Year 1 Seniors Divisions Men All boys and girls in divisions from U10 - U16's, Aussie hoops and Senior mens to register through sports TG as usual. Registration links are below. Due to COVID-19 and the current economy, the committee has agreed to reduce registration fees for season 2020/21 to encourage participation. The aim will be to review this at season's end. We will be also offering kid sport vouchers and family discounts to make registering your children a little more manageable. With attempting to run more divisions we may be required to play games on Monday nights as well as our usual Tuesday afternoons. 04.01.2022 Notice to all Basketball Players, Officials and Spectators The Donnybrook Amateur Basketball Association is growing quickly and We are currently in a rebuild stage where we are slowly trying to bring all our officials, referees, equipment and competition into line with other associations in our area. This does not happen overnight and we ask you all for patience while the committee implements the changes that are necessary.. All members of DABA are responsible under the const...itution for supporting its development including codes of conduct, policies and procedures. The association is actively engaged in developing the skills of officials and players. The association only exists because of the effort put in by dedicated volunteers. All members and volunteers working in any capacity needs to be thanked, supported and treated with respect. We are one association and we all need to act as one association not be acting in an us against them mentality. There is no place for abuse or poor sportsmanship towards players, referees, spectators or game officials. It is the associations aim to provide a safe, enjoyable and integrated team sport. Recently there has been a degree of friction between players, officials and spectators. The committee acknowledges that feelings run high sometimes however the expectation remains that everyone acts responsibly and with respect to others, to assist in limiting accidents and injuries and to support the growth and improvement of our association. Our Association has zero tolerance to any Disrespectful behaviour that is displayed by players, spectators or officials and is a breach of Donnybrook Amateur Basketball association’s code of conduct,this type of behaviour either on court or on the Donnybrook Recreation centre grounds has the potential to shut our association down, so please think before you act.
