25.01.2022 TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT YOUR FEATHERED FRIENDS! We are approaching breeding season for foxes, so now is a great time to check your chook pens to ensure they are ...secure from hungry foxes! To be effective against clever foxes, LBG recommends the pen be fully encapsulated by chicken wire, including a roof. Foxes can easily climb over a fence! It is also a good idea to dig fencing wire into the ground around the outside of the pen, to prevent foxes from digging beneath. Walk around your chook pen and make sure there are no holes or loose connecting where a fox can pry their way inside. A safe chook is a happy chook! For more information on fox control visit our website https://lbginc.org.au/videos/

22.01.2022 This message is for all my Stirling Market customers. It is with happiness and sadness that I let you know my last Market will be Sunday 5th July. I am at a point in my business that I am taking a break from markets to spend more time at home on the farm and amongst my local community. Yay can't wait :-)) Stirling Markets has been my bread and butter and I will always be grateful for the fun I've had selling eggs at the markets. So many customers I will miss, all of you act...ually. So you can still get eggs through James and also through Dean at Perth Organics. James link is attached and I will post Perth Organics soon with a message. Thanks for all your support. Over the past 2.5 years at Stirling Markets. 16.01.2022 VISIONS and PLANNING Im having visions and planning ideas. Planting seeds, nurturing existing plants and plans. Do these pictures tell the story?

15.01.2022 Did you know at this time of the year chooks go off the lay? During Winter there are less daylight hours and chooks lay according to the amount of light. The more light the more they will lay. Over Spring and Summer chooks will pump out the eggs. Some egg farmers use lights in their mobile chicken caravans to increase the productivity of their chooks. I have chosen not to use the lights to give the girls a rest from pumping out the eggs. The consequence of that is I don't h...ave as many eggs to sell at the Farmers Markets and the profitability of my farm enterprise drops at this time of the year. The welfare of the chickens will always come before profit at my farm. It's wet, wet, wet here but that's ok cos the last few years have been dry, dry, dry

15.01.2022 My aspirations for 2021 at Blue Tractor Farm is to continue to regenerate the natural systems. Enhance soil microbes, plant more trees and shrubs and herbs and to keep observing how the land responds to all the benefits of chickens. This year Covid has helped this business by allowing me to be at home more on the farm. It has helped me to source more local food outlets for the eggs and to be more involved in the Donnybrook community. I'd like to thank everyone for their sup...port in 2020, it has been a tough year for us all but a breathe of fresh air for the planet. Here's a short u-tube reminder that regenerative farming is the right way forward. Happy New Year from all of us at Blue Tractor Farm, Donnybrook. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fSEtiixgRJI
