15.01.2022 On Monday night Manjimup State Emergency Service. Nannup State Emergency Service and Bridgetown State Emergency Service - SES joined us for training. We erected two Clark masts and connected portable repeaters which are used for radio communications in areas where there are problems with comms. We then drove around Balingup and surrounds to test out the quality of radio comms in different areas. We love inter unit training and catching up with other members of our orange family.

07.01.2022 Congratulations on receiving the Emergency Services Medal (ESM) David. Our unit is one of the many who have benefited from your help and experience.

06.01.2022 This week several members of our orange family from Busselton State Emergency Service came over to join us for training. We set up a roof safety system over our little portable house and practiced other aspects involved in storm damage operations such as preparing tarps. It was a great night of training and laughs.

05.01.2022 Some good information about being prepared in the event of an emergency.

05.01.2022 For those interested in our indigenous seasons, here in the South West of Western Australia, we have just started Birak.

04.01.2022 Always be prepared for emergencies. Here's a few things you can do.

04.01.2022 UPDATED @ 4:20PM SATURDAY Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS For people in South West, South Coastal and parts of Lower West and Great Southern districts.... Issued at 4:11 pm Saturday, 27 June 2020. A cold front is expected to cause DAMAGING WINDS to southwestern parts of WA during Sunday morning. Plan Image Weather Situation: A cold front will cross the southwest of the State during Sunday morning. A second, stronger cold front will move over the South West Land Division and southern Goldfields during Sunday night and Monday morning. The first cold front is expected to cause DAMAGING WINDS averaging 70 to 80 km/h with peak gusts to around 100km/h that could cause DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY during Sunday morning over southwestern parts of the State. DAMAGING WINDS are possible with the passage of the cold front which is expected to be near Cape Leeuwin at around 4am WST Sunday morning, and located near Perth to Bremer Bay about 8am WST Sunday morning. Winds will then ease through the warning area after 9am WST Sunday, however a second stronger cold front is expected to affect the area southwest of a line Jurien Bay to Southern Cross to Israelite Bay from 8pm Sunday night through to Monday morning. DAMAGING WINDS with gusts to 120km/h, ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES and DANGEROUS SURF are likely with the passage of the second cold front. A warning for the second front will be issued during Sunday morning. Locations which may be affected include Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, Katanning, Mandurah, Manjimup, Margaret River, Mount Barker and Perth. The first front is typical weather for this time of year but winds may cause damage to property and make conditions hazardous. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should: * If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams. * Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows. * Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones if there is lightning. * If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water. * Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris. * Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. * Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris. * Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live. * Assess your home, car and property for damage. * If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs. * If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500. The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 pm AWST Saturday. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and Department of Fire and Emergency Services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
