25.01.2022 Life Insurance is an incredibly important financial investment for most families. In family businesses, life and TPD policies are often used as the key tool for business succession. Weve known instinctively for years that whilst its vital to have life insurance in place, its also important to have a back-up plan in case the insurer doesnt pay up. ASIC has reported today that based on its review into the industry, for one unnamed insurer up to 37% of all TPD claims are... declined. Anecdotally, we tend to find that TPD claims based on back injuries and psychiatric illness are the claims most likely to be knocked back.
