23.01.2022 Here is the official statement from the Church regarding the tragedy yesterday: It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Elder Gavin Paul Zimmer...man, age 19, from West Haven, Utah. Elder Zimmerman has been serving in the Australia Sydney Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since August of 2017. Elder Zimmerman and a group of missionaries were at a popular sightseeing area on Monday when he slipped and fell from a cliff. Our sincerest condolences and prayers are with Elder Zimmerman's family and loved ones as they remember his life and mourn his passing. We pray they will feel the love of our Heavenly Father at this tragic time. The Zimmerman family has asked that I share the following statement from them. It should be attributed to Raymond and Jeanette Zimmerman, Elder Zimmerman's parents: It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the news of our son's passing from this earth to return home to his Heavenly Father. Gavin Paul Zimmerman grew up in Roy and West Haven. He attended Fremont High and participated in both track and football. Gavin was called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Australia Sydney Mission. He began his mission on August 16, 2017. Gavin served in several leadership positions in the mission field. He was a great example to us all, and he loved his mission very much. He enjoyed teaching people and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. He loved the Savior Jesus Christ and his family, and we loved him. Gavin was a bright light in our lives! We are so grateful for our Father in Heaven's plan of salvation. We know that we will be with him again one day. Our family will miss him greatly until we meet again. Then on the 10th a...nd 11th of October, we invite all of you to prepare for and watch the General Conference from your home. You may invite your ministering families to watch with you keeping in mind the rules set by NSW. Below is the suggested schedule for viewing the sessions. Also note that NO sacrament should be held in any of our chapels nor from our homes during this date. Thank you and may we all hear what the Lord needed us to hear and do at this time, through this conference.

President David Harper of the Hebersham Stake Presidency laid a wreath on... behalf of the church in commemoration of the ANZACs. Durga Owen and Jacqueline Donaldson laid a wreath on behalf of the Blacktown Network of Faiths group of which Hebersham Stake is an active member. Also pictured are Blacktown Ward Elders Quorum President Rennie Devison, daughter Courtney Devison, Colin Ross of the Blacktown RSL Sub-Branch and Nagula Mahenthiran from the Hindu community. President Sierra, Tasmin and Annaliese attended the Dawn Service by Rooty Hill RSL held at Pinegrove Memorial Park.
