The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:40 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Gisborne. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Sunbury and Whittlesea by 7:10 pm and the area east of Whittlesea and the area south of Whittlesea by 7:40 pm. Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding is likely. 09.01.2022 Today marks the one-year anniversary of the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months on end. Doreen Tanker was deployed for months in East Gippsland with many of o...ur members crewing it and other trucks over the campaign. It was also around this time we sent some of our members to assist with the fires raging through NSW.

Weather Situation: A trough over western Victoria will continue moving slowly east throughout Monday, clearing central districts around midday and eastern Victoria this afternoon. HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is currently falling across central and western parts of the warning area. Heavy rainfall is moving eastward, expected to ease around the Melbourne area around midday while extending to eastern parts of the warning area this morning.
