25.01.2022 Further to my previous post, I would like to share with you all, one of my pictures which sold at the exhibition. All the artworks were of a very high standard, and I was lucky enough to meet and chat to the lovely lady who purchased my art piece. She assured me that it is going to a very good home. Who could ask for more.

24.01.2022 Having almost come to the end of a portrait commission in acrylic, I looked at my paint palettes and was surprised at all the colours I use to do a portrait. To that end I thought it would be interesting to post a picture of my "working" palettes to give you an idea.

21.01.2022 Although I normally focus on portraits, I recently completed a seascape piece in pastel for an online art exhibition. The theme for this exhibition was "Isolation" and this piece is called "Guiding Light", to represent the feeling of isolation, loneliness and solidarity which this image invokes, as well as the ray of hope to guide one to safety. I hope you enjoy this

21.01.2022 I wanted to say a special thank you to all of you wonderful people who have supported me this year by commissioning me for portraits, liking, following and commenting on my artwork on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Please know that you have made a difference to me and I am thankful for all your support to date. Attached are my Top Nine Instagram posts for 2019. I hope you enjoy them

20.01.2022 Hi everyone. It's been a while since I last posted, but here are my next five pictures submitted for the Inktober challenge. Although Inktober is now officially finished, I will be completing the challenge anyway as I really want to do 31 animal pictures in pen and ink. I hope you are all still enjoying these.

19.01.2022 For those of you who expressed an interest in seeing a close-up of my recent portrait, here it is showing the eyes only so you can get an idea of my technique. Hope you like it .

18.01.2022 "Golden Girl - Betty White" (actor) Watercolour 21 cm x 29.7 cm (A4) For something a little different again and definitely lighter in tone, here is my latest fairly quick watercolour painting of a lovely American actress Betty White, who recently turned 98.... I hope you enjoy this softer style :) #bettywhite #watercolour

18.01.2022 "Crowley" - David Tennant (Good Omens) Colour pencil and Pen/Ink 9" x 12" Here is another piece of fan art. This is Crowley (a fallen angel) from the Good Omens series currently showing on Amazon Prime and is the companion piece to the portrait of Aziraphale. Good Omens is adapted from Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's book of the same name.

18.01.2022 Following on from my owl sketch, I thought I would try my hand at a pen and ink/ watercolour sketch of a solitary feather (not from an owl). The idea is to try to improve my speed whilst still keeping some degree of accuracy . This one took 15-20 minutes.

16.01.2022 "Aziraphale, Guardian of the Eastern Gate" - Michael Sheen (Good Omens) Watercolour - A4 Another piece of fan art from the Good Omens series available on Amazon Prime. This character is Aziraphale, an angel and the Guardian of the Eastern Gate of Eden. The series is adapted from Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's book of the same name.... This is the companion piece to the portrait of Crowley.

15.01.2022 A quick graphite pencil sketch today of one of my favourite feathered friends (Eagle Owl), just to keep in practice. Enjoy! ----------------- (c) Artwork copyright.

15.01.2022 I wanted to work on something quick today, so here is my one hour freehand sketch of a kookaburra.I will definitely do a more in-depth study of this lovely creature, some time in the future. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy it

15.01.2022 Whilst socially isolating, I have been busy attempting to finish off my art works in progress. I thought I would post a "teaser" close up picture of my current rockstar. (Click on picture to see more of it) Still some work to be done, then colour to be added. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy .

14.01.2022 As promised, here are my next five pictures submitted for the Inktober challenge. I am running a little behind but still working on them along with a commission piece. Please feel free to leave feedback or ideas on which animal you would like me to draw for this challenge before the end of this month. I am open to suggestions and will see what I can do

14.01.2022 Due to Covid, things have slowed down for me with regards to art commissions. However, to try and remain positive I am using this opportunity to work on some personal art projects and will share these with you as I go. Here is a current work in progress which I hope to have completed soon. It is done in acrylic on wooden board and although I still have a long way to go, I am happy with it so far.

12.01.2022 Hello all you lovely people. I thought it was time for another update so here we are. I am currently in the process of considering subject matter for paintings to include for an upcoming art exhibition, and this led me to have a look through some of my older pieces of artwork which are not portrait related. I thought I would show you all a couple of these (some sketches also) to give a broader idea of the other sort of artwork I do and have done. I hope you enjoy these. Please feel free to leave comments if you wish. I would love to get feedback.

11.01.2022 Happy New Year my friends. I hope 2020 is everything you could wish for. For me, the new year brings some new ideas for art projects. I am still accepting portrait commissions and will continue to do so with pleasure. Attached is my latest new work in progress and this is one of a series of pieces for my theme of "Rockstars" done in ink wash and watercolour. I am sure you can guess who this will be.

10.01.2022 "Richard Armitage" (actor) Watercolour 21 cm x 29.7 cm (A4) Here is another celebrity portrait I completed recently, after working on it on-and-off between other portraits. 10.01.2022 Whilst not an Inktober post (I will post more of these later I promise), I wanted to share with you all another picture which I included in the recent art exhibition run by the Wanneroo Joondalup Art Society. This painting called "The Old Sailor" was created to capture a feel of nostalgia and memory of days long gone. I hope I have managed to do so. If anyone is interested in purchasing this piece of artwork, it is fully framed and ready to hang (approximately A3 in size). Please message me for details and price.

09.01.2022 This Part 2 of my demonstation portrait in watercolour is a continuation of my fanart portrait of David Tennant as Crowley from Good Omens. Please excuse the top of my head in the last part of the video, where I am leaning forward to try to get closer for adding details in the eye. The video has been sped up 2x and captions have been added. There is no music or audio. There is also a Part 3 which I hope to upload soon.

08.01.2022 This is Part 3 and the final part of my demonstation portrait in watercolour showing David Tennant as Crowley from Good Omens. This part takes you up to the end of the main painting process. The final details (not shown on the video) were adding finishing touches such as highlights in the eye using acrylic paint for extra brightness and a little pen and ink. The video has been sped up 2x and captions have been added. There is no music or audio. Please let me know whether the videos have been useful or informative to you. :)

08.01.2022 Hello everyone. Whilst gearing up for the exhibition next week, I realised how quickly the end of another year is approaching, and following on the heels of that thought came the realisation of how lucky I have been, having had the opportunity to pursue what I love doing. The journey has not always been easy, but I am still passionate about my art and hope that it continues to also provide joy to others.

06.01.2022 Hello again. For those of you lovely people who are interested, I thought I should provide another quick update on what I have been working on. As well as beginning a pet portrait commission, I have decided to take part in another challenge for the month - this time one called "Inktober". The purpose of Inktober is to produce a pen/ink illustration every day for the entire month of October, which will be a challenge. However, I am really looking forward to it as pen and ink i...s one of my favourite art mediums. I will post the pictures as I go, but in the meantime, please check out my Instagram page below for the black/white & colour versions of my latest Inktober illustrations. https://www.instagram.com/deefa_doris/
