22.01.2022 Interested in supporting rural high school students who are interesting in pursuing a career in health care? Check out why Lyra Meehan has loved her position as Rural High School Representative. "In 2020, as the ROUNDS Rural High School Visits Representative, I helped organise multiple rural high school visits across NSW. Due to COVID all face-to-face visits were cancelled, however I came up with creative ways to make the visits online. Due to COVID, I was able to give more of my time into helping with other ROUNDS events. A highlight was helping write a quiz, develop a poster and host the ROUNDS trivia night. The ROUNDs cupboards are well stocked for next years face to face high school visits!"

22.01.2022 Check out what our Secretary Nicola Murphy has to say about her time in ROUNDS during 2020. "In 2020, as the ROUNDS Secretary, I worked to support the ROUNDS executive in our delivery of events and advocacy to Notre Dame Medical and Nursing students. It was more than just the typical administration of organising meeting, writing minutes and attending to emails; it was getting to know all of our new members through the orientation process, attending the events throughout the year and working with the NRHSN to ensure that we met our goals despite being impacted by COVID19."

21.01.2022 Thinking about applying to ROUNDS? See what our outgoing Senior Close the Gap Representative, Danielle Bradd, has achieved this year "As the Senior Close the Gap Representative in 2020, I worked closely with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Representative, Junior Close the Gap Representative, and MANDUS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Representative to promote and advocate for Indigenous health and wellbeing to Notre Dame Medical and Nursing students. We organi...sed two major online events this year. Our first event was a You Can’t Ask That themed speaker night where students could anonymously ask questions to Indigenous and non-Indigenous healthcare workers. In acknowledgment of Black Lives Matter (and in extension, the Indigenous Lives Matter) movement, our second event was themed around Incarceration and Health where we listened to the stories of a local community Elder, healthcare and legal workers, and a human rights lawyer as well as their experiences fighting for Indigenous Justice and Rights and how they impact the health and wellbeing of our First Nations Peoples." 14.01.2022 Are you a nursing student who loves planning social events and getting involved in the rural community? Being the Nursing Social Representative might just be the role for you. Check out what Laura Douglas has to say about it. "As the nursing social representative i have had the opportunity to be the voice for the nursing student body, communicating their ideas and inquiries to the ROUNDS committee. Likewise, i have the opportunity organise and run events for the nursing stude...nts including fundraisers for current events and informative and educational sessions around rural health and opportunities for a rural nursing career. Additionally I have helped organise and run events for the collective nursing and medicine cohorts across the year. This role has provided me opportunities to develop relations with the wider cohort and allowed for advocation and promotion of rural health and nursing careers." See more

07.01.2022 The role of treasurer is a big part of the ROUNDS committee. If you have a good head for finance and numbers you should definitely think about applying for this position. Have a read of what our current Treasurer, Simon Whelan thought about his role; "In 2020, as ROUNDS’ Treasurer I had the responsibility of planning and maintaining the budget, alongside the executive committee, in accordance with the National Rural Health Student Network (NRHSN). I coordinated with other committee members and assisted in the planning of expenditure for ROUNDS events and gifts for speakers. 01.01.2022 Last Post about election positions I swear! One of our co-chair positions this year has been held by Tom Rolls. If you have a good head for leadership and want to immerse yourself in rural medicine, then check out how he found his role and get applying! "In 2020, I was fortunate enough to be a co-chair of the Rounds committee. My previous study and work has been in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, wellbeing and educational engagement research; an area that signi...ficant overlaps with rural populations. Through this I have developed a strong interest in local health inequalities experienced by Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as well as rural populations and health systems. Being able to visit and liaise with communities through these experiences has broadened my perspective and passion for rural health, which I am excited to pursue. I will be attending Wagga Wagga clinical school in 2021/2022 where I am excited to continue learning and advocating for rural health." See more
