22.01.2022 At 11 am on 11 November 1918, the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The allied armies had driven the German invaders back, having inflicted heavy defeats upon them over the preceding four months. In November the Germans called for a suspension of fighting in order to secure a peace settlement. They accepted allied terms that amounted to unconditional surrender (Australian War Memorial, 2020). The 11th hour of the 11th da...y of the 11th month attained a special significance in the post-war years. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war. This first modern world conflict had brought about the mobilisation of over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead, perhaps as many as one-third of them with no known grave. The allied nations chose this day and time for the commemoration of their war dead (Australian War Memorial, 2020). Each year on this day Australians observe one minute’s silence at 11am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. #remembranceday #11thminute #11thhour #11thday #11thmonth #australians #rememberthem #wednesday #anzac #canberra #warmemorial #awareness #11thnovember

21.01.2022 WHAT A YEAR. When this year started out, we were happily celebrating back to school and wishing everyone well for the new year, and we had no idea what we were in for. This year has been massive. To the parents, the school kids, the educators, and all of those who have worked tirelessly to support the learning of young people in 2020 - thank you. We all felt the year in some way - but to wear the responsibility of teaching and learning in this time was an extra layer of pre...ssure. Enjoy the next 6 weeks off from the usual routine - we truly hope all of the educators and the learners get some rest and relaxation these holidays. Enjoy the final day of school today - and keep enjoying the time off for those who have finished earlier in the month.

20.01.2022 It’s Monday and we are back to talk research and dispel myths about all things intervention. This month’s series will focus on starting school - an important time that is around the corner! This information may also be helpful for other clinicians, or student clinicians. Starting school can feel huge - it’s a major transition for young people who are entering an environment with new adults and new peers. To support children who are transitioning to school, we can do a num...ber of things to support success. Getting familiar with the environment, by visiting the school grounds, visiting the teacher and classroom, and visiting key components of the school (e.g. library, hall, canteen) can help - however, this may be a challenge due to COVID19 restrictions. We can also support school transition through storybook reading. Reading together allows children and adults to explore new experiences, discuss emotions and feelings and problem-solve solutions together. Some great books to support starting school include: Starting school by Janet and Allen Ahlber Starting school by Jane Godwin and Anna Walker Starting school by Caryn Jenner and Arthur Robins Feel free to share this information - share it with your parents group, your local playgroup, or with other parents who may find this helpful! If you have any questions or any myths you want busted, please DM us and we can get researching!

20.01.2022 Love this craft idea from Cinta & Co. CHRISTMAS TREE MATCH How to make this activity from @cintaandco herself:... For this activity, I’ve taken a piece of cardboard and painted a green triangle shaped tree. I then glued down recycled bottle tops and labelled each one with a sticker. We then matched pom poms to each bottle top to decorate the tree. You can use tweezers to transfer the pom poms or just your fingers! Either way, it’s a great fine motor activity. #CINTA_christmas #recycleandplay

20.01.2022 Thirty years ago, world leaders made a historic commitment to the world’s children by adopting the United NationsConvention on the Rights of the Child an international agreement on childhood. The Convention on the Rights of the Child protects the right of all children, everywhere, to be free from discrimination, violence and neglect. It means that, for example: - children need to be treated with dignity and respect; - that they should be cared for, develop and be part of t...heir communities; - that they have a right to an education, to express their own opinions and to participate in decisions that concern them; - and that they have the right to be protected against all violence and discrimination, wherever they live, regardless of their ethnic or social origin, property, disability, birth or other status. Let all children thrive! Let us stand, alongside them, for their human rights! #friday #weekend #unitednations #children #teachers #childrensday #learning #educator #education #school #onlineschool #onlinelearning #literacy #educationstandards #earlyeducation #primaryschool #highschool #tertiaryeducation #awarenessdays #UN #CRC30
