25.01.2022 School went back for everyone today here in sunny qld. I've been working at school the whole time (and a bit of OT over the holidays,) so while weekends have been weirdly un-sporty, the weekdays have been pretty predictable, and I feel that we are all back into some kind of routine now, albeit altered by social distancing and what-not. I find though that my nights are filled with pointless scrolling and then some time- wasting regret. Sadly the little creative creature inside... me misses out, which is sad cause she's so cute and I love when she's around. So I'm pledging to get back on the creative horse and #committobeingcreative like I pledged that I would be doing all those years ago. You're welcome to join me if you'd like, when you can. 24.01.2022 Couldn't be prouder to be an Aussie right now!!! I was overwhelmed with the orders you guys placed for my earrings, pins and brooches, and am delighted to say that we donated $100 All up!! I hope you don't mind, I gave $50 to legacy (for those that didn't make it back from war,) and $50 to RSL (for those that came back but sometimes feel like they're still fighting.) Very proud to have gotten up at dawn with my family and paying our respects. 16.01.2022 We have 3 x fully grown 16 year old boys running around in our 40+ year old house today. Not the most relaxing noises when the walls rattle, but I'm trying to be zen and am reading my #simpliciousflow book for the millionth time as a little bit of #committobeingcreative time. Once I've had my cuppa and have yelled at the boys I'll make some more beetroot marmalade......it's Soooooooo good!!!

15.01.2022 Here's my musings once again. Stay safe Melbourne xxx She'll be right," you hear them say; "it won't happen to me." It's almost like they are immune, because they cannot see... "I'm alright," you hear them squawk, their attitudes blasé They’re creeping close, not distancing - it won’t just go away You’ll be right, you hear them grunt when asking for some space They think it won’t apply to them, you can see it on their face It’s alright, you hear them moan when asked to toe the line They feel their rights are being lostbut things are far from fine He’ll be right, you hear them spit, don’t take away my rights! The rules are there for safety’s sake, and they just want to fight They’re alright, you hear them shriek when flaunting safety rules This problem’s big for all of us, but they just look like fools She’ll be right you see them glare, the screens with numbers high Their suburbs listed on TV. It makes you want to cry I’m alright you see them wince when forced to take the test They never thought it was this close. The virus doesn’t rest You’ll be right you see the fear their loved ones start to feel If only we had taken note, this all seems so surreal It’s alright, you see the nurse in full clad PPE She’s patient, kind, resilient. The last person you’ll see He’ll be right, you see their face, contorted and distressed Why weren’t we warned much earlier? - Oh please, give me a rest They’re alright you see them all - the elderly, the frail The vulnerable, the sick, the weak; a horrifying trail She’ll be right, you see his face, the doctor gripped with fear She won’t be right at all you know, the outlook is unclear I’m alright, you see him gasp, his lungs are weak. No will The last words from his stony mouth, he’s quite now. He’s still I’m alright, they chant outside, not knowing what’s within Yet you are shell-shocked, how on earth did this happen to him? You’ll be right, they share the lie; they hug, they touch, they kiss Until it touches their own lives, their ignorance is bliss It’s alright, they disregard the numbers that they hear It’s my right to do what I want! And many blindly cheer He’ll be right, they think out loud, behind a plastic screen No chance to say final goodbyes, a coffin never seen They’re alright they realise, it’s bigger than us all Survival is at stake so please, don’t make the dominoes fall

Found ten minutes to work on a big piece that's been swimming in my head for a while....no deadline, but a promise to spend 10 minutes a day on it.......make sure you take a small pocket each day just for you xxx

07.01.2022 Please stay safe folks - I'm anxious about the unseen threat that feels like it's on our doorstep once again. I'm worried about our friends in the southern states that are feeling helpless and hopeless, but the scariest thing is the ignorance that individuals feel. This is not a time to be selfish, it's a time to cast aside what you think, and to take the time to LEARN THE TRUTH. People way smarter than me are hoping to fix this, but people way dumber are making it hard for them. 07.01.2022 Want to hear a funny story kids!?!! This gorgeous girl Kirsten has created a group called What's For Tea?! where people are sharing their experiences during lockdown, especially in the kitchen. There's no nay sayers, only love, support, and SO MANY LAUGHS - so clearly I'm loving it!! So the challenge was put down to those that were keen...... make a cake from the Australian Women's weekly birthday cake book. ... Oh yeah, that's TOTALLY ME!!! And because I didn't have girls, I wanted to make one that I'd dreamt about ever since I was a little girl..... the Barbie dolly varden dress cake......WHAT COULD GO WRONG!?!! Cue hilarity from the start........ Three layers of cake (chocolate, vanilla and choc chip, ) done Fresh and crumbly when cutting into a dress shape (grr) 500g of icing to crumbcoat - fun!!! Left her in the beer fridge overnight to chill Icing this morning, the copha (shortening,) was still hard and busted my beaters but this girl want going to get the best of me!!! So hours later, after much blood, sweat and tears, here she is in all her glory!!! I wish I could share with you all, but I licked the spoon the while way through and corona, so yeah!!! I've definitely got it out of my system now, and I'm grateful for boys! Xxx Oh boy what a weekend!!!
