20.01.2022 Hi. This is Dr MArianne from Double Diamond Dental Surgery in Moonee Ponds and I just want to ask you : Do your teeth look shorter than they used to be and mottled yellow? The reason could be you are experiencing Erosive Wear which happens if you consume acidic food and drinks on a regular basis. These foods can be fish or salad with vinegar or lemon dressing or soft drinks. The acid in what you eat or drink begins to dissolve your tooth enamel, which then splinters off in ti...ny amounts over a period of time till it is noticeable. The biting surfaces may get sensitive to cold foods or you may notice the edges of the front teeth are looking irregular and serrated or the colour is yellow not white like it was once. The process is progressive, if not addressed may need a major reconstruction. But please see us at Double Diamond Dental Surgery in Moonee Ponds for a consultation to see what we can do to stop this destructive situation. 19.01.2022 Hi Everyone Hope you all can stay clear of the Covid19 dilemma and have something worthwhile to keep you busy. Sadly I am not so busy here actually seeing you lovely people, but everything is getting thoroughly cleaned down and working on ways to help those of you who are missing your regular cleans etc. We can still do some things like xrays , check ups, fluoride treatments etc but regular cleans are out for the moment with restrictions at Level 2 for dental treatment. Best, if unsure, please ring Dr MArianne on 0418 974556 so I can organise for your to come in, if you have an urgent problem that needs attention. Stay well Kind regards MArianne

12.01.2022 Hi to all those out there with elderly family members. Today I would like to raise a dilemma I feel we may be able to make a difference in, even if only a small one. For those of us with parents or family members in care who still have some of their own teeth, we may have noticed that our loved ones dental hygiene appears to being overlooked regularly or entirely when we visit. Staff in nursing homes are usually overworked and have more than realistic numbers of patients to b...e overseeing. They may find dental care is not a high priority in the bigger picture but cleaning an elderly persons teeth may not even have been part of their training. This is where I feel we can help and bring some relief to our loved ones not able to do this for themselves. My suggestion is get them an electric brush with soft brush head(cost about $20). When you come to visit gently coax them into you giving them a dental freshen up just starting with front teeth, tops and bottoms. As they get used to your help, try getting back further in the mouth to any remaining molars. If you visit every couple of weeks this will be helping the resident s overall health as poor dental hygiene has been linked to heart disease or worse. It doesnt need to be a big job or take longer than about 2-3 minutes, just make a start. You may be surprised, your family member will start looking forward to the feeling of better dental hygiene again. We support older members getting regular checks and cleans at Double Diamond Dental Surgery in Moonee Ponds so if your parent is mobile or in a home ask Dr MArianne what could or should we be doing to improve that patients quality of life, dentally. 11.01.2022 Hi to you all and may the New Year bring calmer weather in the next few months than the start we had with the bush fires throughout our beautiful land. So much devastation affects us all so we are offering 10 % of all fees from Fridays for the next 3 months to be donated to the Rural Fire Services to help pay for more new fire fighting equipment. You can help by making an appointment for a check up and clean or other needed treatment on any Friday afternoon session(2-5pm) until Easter 2020. You pay nothing extra, my fees wont change for you. So come in for your regular check or an extra one and we will do our bit for you and help our country get back on its feet again. Call 0418 974556 or leave a message for your RFS appointment. Cheers again Dr MArianne

01.01.2022 Hi to all of you just hanging in till we get the all clear for back to near normal!! We can see those of you who are in pain and need an urgent appointment but for routine broken fillings or an ultrasonic clean, sadly you will have to wait a bit longer. We can do hand scaling when necessary and it is how cleaning was done once a long time ago but it will take a bit longer (and is not as noisy ). So keep using the brush you find suits you best for a thorough clean at home till then. If you do have a mystery lesion that may not be painful however, please dont leave this till next years annual examination as it may need professional attention soner. Kind regards Dr MArianne, Double Diamond Dental Surgery Moonee Ponds
