24.01.2022 What is an inman aligner? It's the perfect solution for crowding or protrusion of the front teeth. It's perfect as a stand alone treatment or even to pre-align teeth prior to further cosmetic options such as bonding or veneers.... The aligner gently guides your front teeth to an ideal position in just a matter of weeks! Most cases can be completed in 6-18 weeks & because it's removable you can take it out to fit with your lifestyle! #DoubleBayDentalStudio #Dental #Dentist #DoubleBay

24.01.2022 THE #BENEFITS OF PORCELAIN VENEERS: Since #veneers are individually sculpted for each patient, it is nearly impossible to tell the difference between a veneer and a natural tooth. Unlike natural teeth, custom-made veneers resist coffee and tea stains, and cigarette smoke because they are made of high-tech materials. With veneers as opposed to crowns, your natural teeth remain largely intact with only a minimal amount being altered to fit the veneer.... For teeth that resist whitening, veneers can make even the darkest teeth appear bright white! Dentists may also recommend veneers to quickly fix minor twists, overlaps, and small gaps. For a consultation, contact us on (02) 9327 6856.

20.01.2022 #FAQ: Who will benefit from #PorcelainVeneers & what are the advantages? There are plenty of people who will reap the rewards of veneers, including those who have: - Discoloured or stain teeth, regardless of the reason... - Chipped or broken teeth - Worn down teeth - Teeth with large gaps between them - Uneven, strangely shaped, or misaligned teeth #Advantages: - Gum tissue easily tolerates porcelain - They will give the appearance of a natural tooth - Veneers provide a more conservative method of changing a tooths appearance. Usually, they dont need the extensive shaping that crowns do, but they do offer a more aesthetically pleasing & stronger option. - Resistant to stains - With porcelain veneers, you can choose the colour, which is ideal if your goal is to make dark or stained teeth appear whiter For a consultation, contact us on (02) 9327 6856 or drop in & visit us at 491 New South Head Rd, Sydney.

18.01.2022 Senior dental problems can be common since oral health directly impacts the health of the rest of the body, these issues need to be taken seriously. Taking care of elderly teeth and gums is just as important as digestive or heart health. Here are nine reasons #senior dental care is so important:... 1. Heart Disease Research has shown that there is a connection between gum disease and heart disease. Maintaining good oral hygiene is a powerful weapon against heart attacks, strokes and other heart disease conditions. 2. Pneumonia Poor oral health has been linked to pneumonia in older adults. By breathing in bacterial droplets from the mouth to the lungs, seniors are more susceptible to the condition; and good oral hygiene is a good way to combat this bacteria. 3. Diabetes Severe gum disease, also called periodontitis, hinders the bodys ability to use insulin. High blood sugar, which is an effect of diabetes, can lead to gum infection. 4. Gum Disease Gum disease is caused by plaque and food left in our teeth, in addition to the use of tobacco products, unhealthy diets, poor fitting bridges and dentures, and diseases like anaemia, cancer and diabetes. Gum disease can instigate tooth loss and can be very serious for overall health as it has been linked to many problems in the body. 5. Root Decay Caused by tooth root exposure to acids from food, root decay is very common in the elderly. As the tooth roots become exposed as gum tissue recedes from the tooth, the root doesnt have enamel protection and makes them prone to decay. 6. Denture-Induced Stomatitis Caused by poor fitting dentures, bad dental hygiene or buildup of the fungus Candida albicans, this condition is an inflammation of the tissue underlying a denture. It can be quite uncomfortable for our senior loved ones. Book your appointment today at #DoubleBayDental, call (02) 9327 6856 or visit http://bit.ly/2BLn6Wm to book online

17.01.2022 3 CAUSES OF BLEEDING GUMS: 1. Gingivitis - Gingivitis is the first stage of gum disease, however at this early stage, you should be able to reverse any symptoms with a good oral hygiene routine & regular dental checkups 2. Medications - Some blood-thinning medications can be the cause of bleeding gums. ... 3. A new toothbrush or a new flossing routine - switching from an old, soft-bristled brush to one that is more firm can cause your gums to bleed. In the same way, flossing more frequently after forgetting to floss after a few days can have the same effect. Call (02) 9327 6856 to book your checkup today

15.01.2022 Red Wine could help fight Tooth Decay & Gum Disease! Now a new study suggests it contains chemicals that can help in the fight against tooth decay and gum disease! Researchers found compounds from the drink, known as polyphenols, helped fend off harmful bacteria in the mouth. They found the wine polyphenols and extracts all reduced the bacteria's ability to stick to the cells, but the polyphenols - caffeine and p-coumaric acids - were more effective.... When combined with the Streptococcus dentisani - believed to be an oral probiotic, which stimulates the growth of good bacteria - the polyphenols were even better at inhibiting the pathogenic bacteria.

07.01.2022 Inflammation and bleeding of the gums is called #Gingivitis. #Pregnancy gingivitis is caused by the hormonal changes that increase the blood flow to the gum tissue and cause your gums to be more sensitive, irritable, and swollen. 03.01.2022 #EnergyDrinks... How can they affect your oral health? Energy drinks promise to jump-start your day, give you more energy and help you feel more alert. But unfortunately, they also do a lot more than that! Turns out, they do a pretty good job of stripping your teeth of enamel, which is a very bad thing. A lot of the energy drinks on the market are loaded with a lot of citric acids. In addition, they are laden with preservatives (not to mention sugar)!... What can you do? Drink through a straw. Dont hold the drink in your mouth before swallowing. Rinse your mouth with water immediately after drinking. Water helps both to neutralise the acid and to increase the production of saliva. #DoubleBayDental
