24.01.2022 The team at Douglas Hoskins Legal would like to assure our loyal clients that we are still open and hard at work. While the landscape is changing every day, the directors and staff are closely monitoring all updates to ensure that we can continue to offer our services while ensuring the safety of our staff and clients by complying with government directions and guidelines. Please note that:... - We are endeavouring to limit our face to face appointments by undertaking appointments by phone or video conferencing (i.e. Zoom or Skype) wherever possible. - Please telephone reception on 8298 2066 rather than dropping in and we will be glad to assist you. Please bear with us while we adjust to these new working arrangements. We are still experiencing a high demand for services and we wish to assure you that the Douglas Hoskins Legal team is still working hard to ensure that all matters are addressed quickly and safely. We wish you all the best during these difficult times and hope you stay safe and well.

05.01.2022 Douglas Hoskins Legal is proud to have been recognised as a leading law firm in South Australia in the fields of Estate Litigation and Wills, Estates & Succession Planning by Doyle's Guide in the recently published 2019 rankings. In addition, Directors Bree Burns and Shona Hoskins have been personally recognised by Doyle's Guide. For the first time Bree has been ranked as a Leading Estate Litigation lawyer, and a Recommended Estate Planning Lawyer, while Shona has been ranked as a Recommend Estate Litigation lawyer. It is an honour to be recognised and recommended by our peers and fellow professionals. https://doylesguide.com/leading-wills-estates-litigation-l/

05.01.2022 Many of our clients have expressed concern about completing their Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Advance Care Directives at this time. We understand that many of our clients are in at risk categories for COVID-19 and are feeling particularly vulnerable. We wish to assure you that we take these concerns seriously. As a result we are regularly reviewing and updating our procedures to ensure that all aspects of estate planning for our clients can continue to be progres...sed quickly and safely. If you have provided us with instructions to draft a Will for you, we strongly recommend that you get in contact with us to complete the process and arrange to have your documents executed. There are many options available in relation to signing the documents, for example: - Attending at our office for a short appointment where we will utilise protective measures such as wearing gloves, maintain a safe distance and keep the appointment as brief as possible. - Sending you the documents for execution at home in front of two witnesses, if you are able to have two independent witnesses present safely. - Sending you the documents for execution at home informally, i.e. without two witnesses. While this option is not ideal, it may be appropriate in some cases of high risk to the health of the client. We will provide you with detailed advice about this option before it is undertaken, as there are important legal consequences that must be discussed. Please do not: - attempt to execute documents at home without first discussing the matter with a solicitor; or - put off finalising your estate planning documents. Our staff are here to help you with any enquiries you might have, so please do not hesitate to call us on (08) 8298 2066 if you have any concerns at all about your Will or any other aspect of your estate planning. New clients are welcome, so please call us to make an initial appointment by phone. We thank you all for your cooperation and hope you are safe and well at this difficult time.
