22.01.2022 Council staff recently spotted this crocodile enjoying the water downstream of the Diggers Pedestrian Bridge, near the picnic area in Mowbray Valley. It was immediately reported to Queensland Environment Department (DES) who have installed temporary signage. Permanent warning signage is currently being arranged by DES for installation.... 17.01.2022 Captain Cook Highway Road Works Department of Transport and Main Roads (Queensland) is progressing works on the $2.4 million package of safety treatments along Captain Cook Highway between Port Douglas and Mossman. The major works will commence from early 2021, with some minor works to be carried out in late 2020, weather permitting.... 16.01.2022 CAPTAIN COOK HIGHWAY WORKS UPDATE || The Department of Transport and Main Roads (Queensland) will start slope rehabilitation and geotechnical works at the following locations from mid-January: A section near Rex Lookout A section 3km north of Rex Lookout, near Turtle Ck culvert... The works will involve the removal of large rocks and stabilisation of the roadside area using soil nails and rock nets Crews will be onsite between 6 am and 7 pm, and the works are expected to be completed by late-March 2021, weather permitting. The Rex Lookout will remain open, however some car parks will be unavailable during the works. Works at Yule Point are expected to be completed in February 2021, weather permitting. Several intermittent full road closures will be required each day throughout the works to carry out scaling, cleaning and the removal of large rocks. Firstly, we check them over and take them to a vet if necessary Second...ly, we treat them for fleas, ticks and worms Thirdly, we give them a feed of soaked puppy biscuits and soft puppy food. This occurs 3 times a day We then post the puppies here and if they are not claimed in 3 days they are rehomed through one of the wonderful local rescue groups
