24.01.2022 The region where our Barron Gorge Hydro Power Station sits in Far North Queensland is a particularly beautiful area. The Barron Falls, which cascade with roarin...g white water during the wet season (December to March) make for a breathtaking sight. In 2019, CleanCo Queensland took ownership of the Barron Gorge Hydro Power Station. We’re proud to continue operating this asset as part of our mission to sustainably provide Queensland with affordable and reliable clean energy.

23.01.2022 The Cassowary Satinash (Syzygium graveolens) produces colourful new leaves and large fruits which are a favourite food of Cassowaries. They are endemic to Far North Queensland being restricted to the area between Cape Tribulation and Tully. #DaintreeBuyBack @ www.Rainforest4.org

19.01.2022 Look out for a DSSG flyer in your post box soon. This flyer provides reasons why we believe a cable ferry should be retained as opposed to a bridge over the Daintree River.. For more information and a link to the Douglas Shire Council on-line consultation survey go to our website. https://www.dssg.org.au/save-the-daintree-again-

18.01.2022 Good News Post! Qld government has taken the initiative and will ban single use plastic in 2021 including straws, cutlery, plates and stirrers etc.. you can have your say here if you want this to extend to EPS takeaway food containers and cups and those polystyrene containers which can’t be readily recycled.

13.01.2022 I am asking you to join long-term activists, to be a part of CAFNEC's LAST MORNING vigil for the protection and recovery of our Spectacled Flying Foxes. Tomo...rrow, Friday 27th November at 3.30am, the CAFNEC Team is heading down to the Cairns Library Roost, and I am urging you to join us and stand in solidarity. Our Spectacled Flying Foxes meet the criteria for Critically Endangered. We need as many people as possible to come down and demand that the acting CEO of Cairns Regional Council puts a stop to all disruptive activities until the end of pup-rearing season - April 2021. I am asking you to take 1 morning from your life to be a part of standing up for the protection and recovery of a keystone species #SaveOurSFF Aisha de Barros Lopes Community Organiser

09.01.2022 SAVE THE DAINTREE AGAIN / DSSG Responds to Daintree River Crossing Survey Results _______________________ Douglas Shire Sustainability Group welcomes the resul...ts of a survey conducted by Douglas Shire Council into the appetite for a bridge crossing the Daintree River. The survey results confirm the views of DSSG members that a bridge is neither required nor desired and that this community prefers conservation over development. Two thirds of those surveyed said they preferred a two ferry system. Mr McDonald reports that DSSG members are angry that Douglas Shire Council has wasted time and money on this survey... The previous Council had examined the issues extensively and made good decisions we are still not clear why this was the new Council’s first action what interests were at play. 09.01.2022 We are super excited to be part of this fantastic media and science collaboration which will bring the Reef to you on December 4th! Broadcasting live over two b...ig nights from the Great Barrier Reef, Australian audiences will be able to watch one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles unfold the once-yearly phenomenon of the majestic mass coral spawn. As corals across the outer reef synchronise their spawn release, scientists will capture the spawn in a race against time to help regenerate the reef before it’s too late. As well as the coral spawning, we’ll watch the reef come alive in the breeding bonanza of fish, birds, and turtles. #ReefLiveAU https://iview.abc.net.au/video/MP2047H024C00DT1

09.01.2022 DAINTREE RIVER CROSSING / Public consultation results are published ________________________ There will be no bridge built over the Daintree River with result...s from recent public consultation published today, consolidating previous findings that the public emphatically do not want a bridge built over the river. We release the Douglas Shire Council report today, with a full analysis to follow. __________________ The survey results are in with Douglas Shire preferring a two-ferry crossing over a bridge at the Daintree River. The detailed results, released on Douglas Shire Council’s website today, revealed a majority of those who completed the Daintree River Crossing Survey preferred a two-ferry service with 66% of the count, compared to 33% of people who chose a bridge.
