25.01.2022 The first Maths Unit in Prep is ‘Goodnight Sleep Tight’. Throughout this unit the Preps have been investigating how the sun determines day time and night time, the purpose of clocks and discussing bed time/evening routines. To end this unit the Prep students brought in their favourite teddies to sleepover in their classroom! Of course they had to design and build suitable beds! All the teddies were tucked in before the students went home we wonder what they teddies got up to while we slept?

24.01.2022 Sometimes things are out of our control ... the next 3 days mean different things to each of us in the Doveton College community. For our children, let's take the pressure off and allow them space in this moment to find some calm and joy. If you need someone to talk to, please contact the College and our wellbeing team can help. For some of us, this 5 day blip is a chance to breathe before the hectic times continue, for others it's a loss of work and uncertainty. For some it brings up stress and anxiety, and for others a moment to reach out and care for those around us that need that phone call or note in the letterbox. Be mindful that everyone experiences these moments in different ways, and a little bit of care and understanding goes a long way!

22.01.2022 Summerfest reminder ... will be live to the public at 5pm next Monday :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt9oZDBWLNQ

21.01.2022 Please see compass post regarding the 5 day Stage 4 lockdown in Victoria that commences at 11:59pm Friday 12 February. There are only 4 reasons to leave home - shopping, caregiving, essential work and 2 hours exercise each day. Shopping and exercise must be done within 5km of your house. School studnets will learn from home Monday - Wednesday. Students in Prep - Year 5 have hard copy work with them to complete. Year 6-9 students should refer to compass and the google classro...om. The ELC is open, but if you can keep your children home you should. Children who are vulnerable or have parents who are essential workers and cannot be cared for by other options can apply for a permit to send their children to school for supervision of their remote learning. They will need to contact the office now for a permit, not the morning of the required supervision as we need to organise the appropriate staffing numbers to supervise. See more

21.01.2022 Any families living in Hallam or that corner of Eummemering would have received a text message from DHHS about the current increase of COVID-19 cases in the Hallam area this week. The government has set up a rapid response testing site at Hallam Senior Secondary College and is urging families in the area to get tested if you have ANY symptoms of cough, fever, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, sore throat, loss of sense of smell or taste, increased fatigue and headaches, and then isolate until your results come back the next day. Whilst numbers are still low, it is very important to do the right thing by our community and those of our neighbours.

19.01.2022 Don't forget ... summerfest is live at 5pm tonight! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt9oZDBWLNQ

19.01.2022 During lockdown 2.0 our staff decided to meet the student’s challenge to recreate a song. ‘Take on Me’ was selected & we gave it our best A big thanks to the Doveton Live crew for putting this package together from the many, many submissions of staff. We hope you enjoy - we certainly did!!

17.01.2022 We are soooo excited to announce we will run DEEP activities for the remaining 3 weeks of the school year (starting next week). This is a way to celebrate our hard work during remote and a glimpse into next year. Due to restrictions, we are running the programs for specific year levels. Below is a list of the activities, the year level and the day it is being run. Year 8 & 9 students don't tend to sign up so the choice has been made to not run these year levels. Students must sign up by the end of this week if they wish to attend. Sign up forms will be handed out to interested students today and there will be some extra copies in the office.

11.01.2022 Something to work on towards October!! We have some amazingly skilled stop action animators in our student group!

10.01.2022 This week, NAIDOC week celebrations are held around the country to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Usually held in July, it was delayed this year until we were able to be together again. Our bell music for the week is from Mitch Tambo who performs John Farnham's You’re the Voice in Gamilaraay language. It was lovely to see the students dancing around at the end of lunch and asking questions about the language. Happy NAIDOC week!

09.01.2022 Thank you to Mr Cailin Rolfe for the message you delivered to our community today during the Remembrance Day ceremony. We are proud that you are a part of the Doveton College teaching staff, and for the service you give to serve our armed forces.

08.01.2022 Parents ... we need your help! A parent opinion survey has just been posted on Compass (check your emails!) This feedback will help us to better modify any areas of learning that families feel we can improve on, and to confirm areas in our College that have been quite successful throughout a long term of home learning. Your opinions really helps, and we need as many parents to support this!

08.01.2022 Early Learning Photos are being taken on Wednesday - Friday this week. Parents can access the website bradlingtonphotography.com to register to view their child's photos before purchasing. All business, payments and orders will need to be completed with Barbara the photographer, not the College. If you have any questions about the process please speak to your child's educator :)

08.01.2022 Yesterday Mrs Wilson lead a team of Year 6 students, Early Learning Students and staff to create three wreaths for Remembrance Day. They have done such a great job! The Art Team has also worked on the front garden poppy display which is lovely. The 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour, we as a nation join other nations around the world and stop for a minutes silence to remember the service personnel who gave of themselves to fight for our freedoms in the war. Original...ly named Armistice Day, we commemorate the end of the hostilities for the Great War (World War I) at the moment that the armistice was signed. Red poppies are worn on items of clothing on Remembrance Day to remember those who died during a war. Poppies were among the first plants that came from the battlefields of northern France and Belgium during World War I. Please join us from 10:45-11:10 for our Remembrance Day ceremony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0RMRK2o6-M See more

If this is your bird please make contact with our office on 8765 0111. It’s definitely someone’s pet as it’s very well hand raised.

06.01.2022 It's hobby day tomorrow! The staff are excited to see what students come up with during their live lessons!

05.01.2022 The Department of Education has asked us to share this message with our wider community, several pop up sites have now been established in the Greater Dandenong & Casey government areas (in addition to the standard testing centres). On Dandenong Market Days a walk-up will be located at: 4-6 McCray St Dandenong - opposite Dandenong Market. Will be open Saturday, Tuesday and Fridays from 9am 2pm going forward. We have also added tiles in our most populous languages. If you have any symptoms please isolate from the community, get tested and remain isolated until your results are returned.

04.01.2022 Happy Friday!! We made it to the last day of term, and I know most of our students are really looking forward to what term 4 will look like when they are allowed back on site. Week 1 (Monday 5 - Friday 9 October) will be remote learning with the same timetable as this week. From week 2 (Monday 12 October) Prep - Year 2 will return to face to face learning. Year 3-9 will continue remote learning until we meet Step 3 of the Governments Roadmap - hopefully week 4! Only staff re...quired for face to face learning and support will be in attendance at the College. The rest will continue working from home as they have been and are contactable via email. We want to wish everyone a safe and hopefully happy school holiday period. Enjoy finding new places in our 5km sphere to exercise and enjoy the playgrounds. If you need any support, our College Office is still contactable during the holidays on 8765 0111 See more

02.01.2022 On Monday 14 September the City of Casey launched its engagement program, Shape Your City. This program gives our community the chance to have their say on how Council plans for the future of our city, and provides critical services and infrastructure such as parks, playgrounds, community services and local roads. While the Council are currently unable to consult with residents face-to-face, they have several virtual options available for people to provide feedback, including... online community forums, activities, and webinars.
