23.01.2022 In 4 years the Dowerin Machinery Field Days grew to a million dollar event. 1968 saw 80 exhibitors & 6,200 visitors in attendance. A 14 disc plough valued at $1,100 was stolen from site. Belonging to Committeeman Geoff Miller it was being used at a busy bee & disappeared overnight. Despite extensive aerial searching by a Cessna 172 it was never seen again. Thankfully over the years the event has been relatively trouble free with minimal security risks.

22.01.2022 Its with heavy hearts that we announce that we will not be proceeding with the Dowerin GWN7 Machinery Field Days in 2020. In response to advice from federal authorities the current ban on events of 500+ attendees will not be reviewed until the end of June and is highly likely that this will still be in place for August. The Dowerin GWN7 Machinery Field days team were in contact with Field Days around Australia and working with federal authorities on the best call of action.... The advice we received was to not proceed with this years event. A priority for us is the health and safety of our visitors, exhibitors and volunteers. We are acting on recommendations from a national level. This has been an incredibly tough decision but the health and safety of those involved in our event and beyond, is of highest importance. Anyone who has paid their $200 deposit, or their camping site fees will be refunded. We will be in touch over the coming weeks. Nadine McMorran, the 2020 Chairperson says We wanted to act in the best interest of you our volunteers and community, our exhibitors & suppliers, sponsors, staff and visitors. This is certainly unknown territory for a lot of us as this is the first time in our 56 year history that we have had to deal with this but I ask that we all rally around and support each other, we have a wonderful community with a can do attitude. Our local businesses certainly need our support this year and beyond as they too navigate through this. The March funding is still open, and the Field Days team is still committed to opening the October round. We also plan on running busy bees throughout the year as a fundraising opportunity. Our AGM is scheduled for April 20th which at this stage will still be going ahead (but may change due to regulations) we encourage anyone in our community that wants to be involved to please come along our committee needs some rejuvenating with fresh members and ideas. Together, we are looking forward into the future, this is the next chapter in the Dowerin GWN7 Machinery Field Days story and our communities. We should be very proud of what our community has achieved in the past 56 years and it is an exciting prospect of what we can achieve for the next 50+. Please put the August 25th & 26 of August in your diary for 2021. We hope to see you all there again.

11.01.2022 Reflecting back to the mid 1960s a group of passionate community members gathered to discuss ways of injecting funds into the towns infrastructure by hosting an agricultural event and projecting Dowerin into the public eye as a go ahead community. Little did these members know their ideas would carry on through generations to form a pivotal event on the agricultural calendar - one that continues to benefit the district. Their dream became a reality with the inaugural Dowerin Machinery Field Days on 3rd September 1965. Were you in attendance?
