25.01.2022 Prince Harry and I have been on the road visiting people and offering some Christmas cheer in the towns of Moore, Blackbutt, Fernvale, Yarraman, Kingaroy and Wooroolin. WOW, it was so hot, Temperatures reached 37deg and signs of any moisture in the soil had dried up. I admire our farmers for continuing to work in these sweltering conditions to provide food for us. I am also very grateful to St Vincent’s Health Australia for providing DWCS with a vehicle that is safe, carries a lot of much needed items and had air conditioning. We really needed it as we when from place to place.

19.01.2022 WELLNESS THROUGH LEARNING AND CREATIVITY for country women organised by DWCS....Our theme had to be CHRISTMAS! Although the temperature was extremely high, outdoors and inside, 18 superheroes gathered for our 5 hour workshop. All eager to learn something new, to mix with other women, to laugh and to relax. These are just some of the decorations made by the women. Everyone appeared to be very proud of what they made and most of them went home with 2 finished decorations. ... Thanks to Joan for making the sandwiches and cheese and fruit platter for us to enjoy. Thanks to everyone who collected native seed pods from different locations. These certain helped us to create some items.

18.01.2022 Janette, thank you for donating these beautiful knitted and crocheted items for our country families and/or the DWCS Charity fund raising stalls. We are very grateful for your support. I was delighted to see you again and to know you are recovering and healing well after the dog attack. Take care.

15.01.2022 Today a small group of beautiful country women enjoyed morning tea under the ‘THINK TREE’ at Wooroolin. It was refreshing to spend time soaking in the wonderful view, to feel the gentle breeze touched our skin and to appreciated a much cooler day. Together we shared stories, photos and lots of laughter. Harry had the run of the farm and was busy entertaining everyone and rounded up the cats and the guineafowls. Staying connected has been so important for everyone. ... Have you connected with someone today?

14.01.2022 Another extremely hot and dry day on the road. Any moisture in the soil has boiled and completely dried up. WOW what a summer it’s going to be for our dedicated farmers and everyone who works outdoors - plumbers, builders, electricians, fire fighters, police, main roads staff and so many others.

13.01.2022 Powerful.. Joshua Dyer (aged 14) was tasked at school to write a poem for Remembrance Day. An hour later (without any help) he produced this.. ONE THOUSAND MEN ARE WALKING One thousand men are walking... Walking side by side Singing songs from home The spirit as their guide they walk toward the light milord they walk towards the sun they smoke and laugh and smile together no foes to outrun these men live on forever in the hearts of those they saved a nation truly grateful for the path of peace they paved they march as friends and comrades but they do not march for war step closer to salvation a tranquil steady corps the meadows lit with golden beams a beacon for the brave the emerald grass untrampled a reward for what they gave they dream of those they left behind and know they dream of them forever in those poppy fields there walks one thousand men Lest we forget. 11.01.2022 Prince Harry and I have been on the road again heading to the Grenit Belt and today we were surprised to see these. Its SUNFLOWER season on the Southern Downs and this year they’re blooming beautiful! Starting in late spring, a sea of yellow floods parts of the Southern Downs Region as spectacular sunflower fields line major highways and country roads between ALLORA and WARWICK at the 8mile intersection. ... Visitors come from miles/kilometres away to see and take prize winning shots of these magnificent flowers.

09.01.2022 Thanks to Rose for these beautiful Christmas gifts. They were delivered today with gifts for each of the children. They were placed under the tree made of branches and decorated with stars made by the children. You have certainly helped to lift the spirits of the entire family who have lost so much this year. Sharing love and offering care and support makes a positive to bring joy to this family in need love and support.

07.01.2022 2020 has been a year like no other, and it's been extremely tough for people already experiencing hardship, especially those waiting and hoping for rain. Christmas is the perfect time to give and to show support to our Aussies farmers and rural communities in Southern QLD who really need it. 'Tis the season of giving’ and your support will help get what individuals and families need and provide items to go on the dinner table this festive season. Let us share the spirit of ...Christmas far and wide this year. 100% of donated funds received by DWCS will be given as cash or used to purchase exactly what’s needed to as many people as we can. Every donation helps. Visit DWCS website to donate in one of three ways: www.downsandwestcommunitysupport.org

02.01.2022 Another very hot day in the Burnett with the temperature reaching 35deg., but was wonderful to catch up with Narelle for morning tea in the Burnett. Not only did we chat for a few hours, Narelle and her sister Heather had made a lot of children’s clothes for our country kids - dresses, shorts, vests and so much more. Most of these will be handed out in the coming weeks. Thank you Narelle and Heather for helping to share the spirit of Christmas.

02.01.2022 A huge thank you to the principals, staff and students of Mt St Michael’s College Ashgrove and Marist College Ashgrove for helping us to respond to the needs of individuals and families living in rural southern QLD. These two colleges have offered financial and practical support since 2007. This is a tremendous effort and we are most grateful! May you all have a Happy Christmas with family and friends. .
