23.01.2022 Great job Milo! This was in just one session. If walking your dog has become a chore, it's time to do something about it. A lack of exercise, discipline and structure in your dogs life will only make things worse. Get in touch today

22.01.2022 London Pupdate - Day 6 of Training (9 weeks old ) London is really starting to LOVE fetch! Being a Weim, this is a natural instinct for him but it’s something every puppy/dog can learn. It’s a great way to burn them out and develop your bond with them.... I’m using a tug toy here to teach him fetch because this toy is more fun when I’m involved in the play. That way, when you throw the toy away they’ll naturally chase it and naturally bring it back because it’s not as fun on their own. Try it with your own dog and let me know how you go!

22.01.2022 This is how my 9 week old pup sleeps during a thunderstorm. How? - Gradual Exposure: this is only his 3rd real storm but at least his 10th experience due to being exposed to them on YouTube - Positive Association: during his first few encounters we made sure to do something fun with him so that he associated storms with a positive experience ... - Subconscious Processing: we ensured that the storm was not his main focus and instead a background noise to him. It stopped from over thinking it and all while, his limbic system is marking this event as something that’s safe and not that something that needs to be ran away from or howled at - REPEAT!: we didn’t do this just once and assumed that’s all he needed. It can take a bit of time to fully form associations between two stimuli so we made sure he has a good solid understanding of what a storm entails And this is the end result! Lightning, thunder, hail, wind, rain, sirens are all music to his big grey ears Try it with your pup and thank me later

21.01.2022 London - Day 4 of Training (8 weeks old ) Today was more light exposure as well as working on his obedience and charging his reward marker ... We made short visits too: - Bunnings - Pet Barn - Pet Groomer - Vets These visits were all just about exposing him to new environments and their sights, sounds and smells. Keep your visits short and positive, don’t over expose your pup

21.01.2022 Yogi - 2YO Maremma Yesterday was our 3rd session with this big polar bear. Yogi has no real issues, just a few behavioural problems that are often present in Maremma’s. Maremma’s are a livestock guardian dog, meaning they were bred to guard properties and the people/animals that live there. ... When placed in a domesticated setting, they can often get it wrong when determining what is/isn’t theirs to protect, and what is/isn’t a threat. With Yogi, his area he wanted to protect was his ENTIRE street. Meaning any person, bike, car, bus, truck, dog that entered this zone was in for an avalanche of barking. Maremma’s have a HUGE bark. We’ve brought that down and Yogi is really starting to get a solid understanding that he’s allowed to protect his yard, but not the whole street. We’ve also worked on showing him what is and isn’t a threat. Yogi had a LONG list of things he considered dangerous to himself and his humans. We’ve basically crossed that whole list off and are only left with the postman and white vans. We don’t want to try to nullify his natural set of instincts (you’d never succeed anyway) we just want to get control over them and curb them to an appropriate level for a suburban setting. - Side note: HUGE shoutout to Yogi’s mum for putting in the work. Maremma’s are NOT an easy breed and while they’re one of my favourite breeds, I don’t at all recommend them to the average, non farming household (most Maremma parents would agree here ). But they can be a great dog if the time is put in with a trainer experienced with the breed. I’m looking forward to the end result!

21.01.2022 When teaching your dog something new, play is SUCH an effective tool for teaching valuable lessons or creating behaviours

20.01.2022 Here’s why you shouldn’t buy a dog on a whim, or commit to a breed you know nothing about

18.01.2022 What’s the cutest photo you have of your dog sleeping?

17.01.2022 IT’S SNAKE SEASON If you want your dog to AVOID snakes like that plague, whether you’re there or not, you need to book in now, or it could cost your dog their life! Don’t leave it up to chance. Even an infant brown snake has enough venom available to kill a fully grown human. My snake avoidance program will have your dog keeping a safe distance between themselves and the snake whenever they encounter one, keeping themselves safe and sound.... I have my first lot of clients booked in for their snake training session this coming week, if you’re smart, you will too.

02.01.2022 Lewis - 1.5YO - Rhodesian Ridgeback Isolation Distress When tackling an issue such as SEPARATION ANXIETY or ISOLATION DISTRESS it’s important to know what you’re talking about in order to correctly treat it. Too many trainers use the blanket term of ‘separation anxiety’ without looking deeper into the dogs symptoms, psychology and presenting behaviours. ... This is important because how you deal with each one is very different. Lewis‘s mum and dad convinced that their dog had separation anxiety, an issue that has a LOT of stigmatism around it and something all too often has a bandaid thrown at it in terms of medication. In fact, Lewis has isolation distress, a different issue all together. He’s avoided medication all together and is on a strict training program to resolve this issue. Whether your dog has either isolation/separation anxiety/distress you can definitely fix it. Medication will help, but it doesn’t FIX the issue. A training program tailored for your dog, from a trainer who’s poured HUGE amounts of time into researching this issue WILL fix the issue. Be like one of my many clients who get a great result and get their life back! No more planning who will be home for the dog, rushing home from work, hiding all your shoes or hoping you won’t receive another letter from council. Freedom at last! Book in now!

01.01.2022 HIGHLY recommend Santa Paws at Pacific Fair! Do you like London’s outfit?

01.01.2022 London Pupdate - 20WO This week we’ve been working more on London’s seat positions. As an assistance dog there’s 5 total correct seating positions they must know that vary depending on the type of chair/seat/bench. In this video I demonstrate 2/5. The first is a command called ‘auto settle’. As you can see I don’t give London a verbal command. The idea is that if I sit down somewhere that itself is his cue to lie down and relax.... The second is one of his ‘under’ commands. The word under has 3 positions associated with it, and it’s up to London to assess the type of seat that I’m in and adjust accordingly. It takes a lot of brain power from his and repetition to nail this. As you can see, he’s smashing it! Who’d like to see a video where I demonstrate all 5 seating positions?
