25.01.2022 With the sailing season on hiatus and many feeling a bit lost, we thought what better opportunity to place some positive vibes out into the world of sailing. We are going to take this time to share some of our customers highs from the 2019/20 season over the next little while. We are starting with David Temby on his Hanse 415. Check out the photo's of him sailing on Pittwater in late 2019. Here's a little of what he had to say: "The hugest thanks for our relationship so far ...and looking forward to this continuing and growing through the future. From our first phone call to our first sail, your thorough understanding of my needs, and the results of your work have been outstanding and far exceeded my expectations. I am a very, very happy customer and supporter of Doyle Sails Sydney. The way you really get to know and understand your clients and your integrity, professionalism and care sets a benchmark. I am so grateful for the way that you have handled everything. 5.8 knots uphill in 6.5 knots of breeze and 7 knots in 12 knots is fantastic on our Hanse 415 with new Doyle Stratis sails from Doyle Sails Sydney! Our first sail with new sails resulted in way more acceleration in puffs. The sails were bladed up perfectly and looked amazing! Shane has produced a main and self tacker that have far exceeded my expectations. Our Hanse 415 is used for cruising, but I have always wanted to replace the dacron main and jib with sails that would give the best performance possible from this yacht. Durability, ease of handling, stacking into boom bag were also criteria for making the right choice. Now we can also look forward to doing some club racing and maybe race weeks up north in 2020. Very exciting!! Thanks again for everything - it’s been a great experience!!!" Thank you for your kind words David and we are very much looking forward to working with you into the future. May the new season bring you fun, sun and speed.

22.01.2022 Another week of social distancing down and a long weekend to come. Why not hear from another of our Doyle Sydney customers. Darryl Hodgkinson has been a long time Doyle customer and friend. In his previous boat, a Cookson 50, he enjoyed a Tattersalls Cup victory in the 2013 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race as well as a 2014 Sydney to Lord Howe Island and 2 division wins in Sydney to Southport races. In the 2019/2020 season, he enjoyed a great Lincoln Race Week campaign on his Cark...eek 40, with our very own Shane Guanaria onboard. He had this to say: "A great achievement for myself and the VICTOIRE crew was to win Div2 at 70th Teakle Port Lincoln regatta. Victoire competed, winning the event in 2012, but returned with its new Carkeek40+ to see if a repeat was possible. I put a great deal of planning with Sean Kirkjian and Shane Guanaria to prepare the boat and crew. I already had a new 1 season Doyle main, J3+ and Spinnaker Staysail. We added a new A2 and J2 for this event along with a new J4 for the passage race. These sails were the primary sails used for this event. As these photos show, these sails set us up combine with great crew work for a great win dominating with 1, 1, 1, 1, 2 and 4. Shane was my primary trimmer and crew boss, with Sean as my tactician. All crew performed so well they all deserved the win and the congratulations. Many seasoned campaigners were amazed at our speed and commitment to the event Thanks VICTOIRE crew and Doyle. A great end to the summer program" We are very glad that we could support you and your whole crew in this fantastic achievement Darryl and thank you for your words. Here's to getting back on the water as soon as we can.

21.01.2022 We know that 2020 is challenging right now and it can be difficult to see through to the light at the end of the tunnel, particularly in the midst of what's going on. Sometimes all we can do is take a little comfort from those that have done it tough before us and come out the other side stronger. One of the most inspirational people we know is our family friend and valued customer Peter Lowndes. 2019 for him was one of the toughest in his life and he has made it through and ...is coming out the other side with the support of his sailing community. All the staff at Doyle Sydney have been proud to be able to help during these trying times. These are his amazing words: Wine-Dark Sea (Lyons 49) has a full set of Doyle Sails. The majority of which were made for her cruising exploits in 2016 and 2017. Shane Guanaria, from the Sydney loft, actively engaged Peter Lowndes and Sarah Goddard-Jones in both deciding on the sail wardrobe and the design of the sails to suit the planned cruising. The sails included a Stratis furling jib and Stratis mainsail with full length battens. These sails have now done over 10,000 nautical miles and are still in great condition. Good enough to win Magnetic Island Race week in 2019 in honour of Sarah, who passed away in June 2019. Not bad for a 17 year old boat with sails sporting 10,000nm when considered she went up against a fleet of new, larger Bavarias and Dehlers most with brand new rags, carbon rigs and professional sailors on board. Instrumental in the longevity of the sails is regular maintenance. In the period between racing at Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron during summer and heading north each year. The sails are removed from the boat for a once over in the loft. This ensure any wear patches are addressed and any potential alterations or recuts can be addressed with a little nip or tuck. With the early termination of the sailing season I will be taking the opportunity to get the sails serviced again before heading north to defend the title at Magnetic Island Race Week and I am looking forward to seeing our new Stratis main that we currently have on order in action. We have loved working with you Peter and can't wait to continue both our working relationship and friendship. Here's to 2020 improving (eventually) and everyone coming out the other side.

21.01.2022 Somthing to keep the mind ticking over while we are in an enforced hibernation.

21.01.2022 Have a look at what Doyle Sails International CEO Mike Sanderson had to say during a live chat this morning with Suellen Hurling from Live Sail Die.

19.01.2022 Congratulations to Gordon Ketelbey and the crew onboard Zen on their fantastic start to 2020! Great result finishing 2nd in the 2020 Australian Yachting Championships.

19.01.2022 While it is not business as usual, it is definitely business as best we can in these testing times. Keeping our staff working and our customers orders moving while we are able to, in the safest manner possible, is of the utmost importance to us. We are family and we will come out of this the other side together.

16.01.2022 Just another Friday morning in sunny Sydney working on a Structured Luff furling job top for a Reichel Pugh 68. Are you ready for a summer of sailing? Let us help you get your sails sorted. #poweredbydoyle #properpreparationpreventspoorperformance #summersailready

14.01.2022 RIB load of sails removed and picked up from a 45 footer ready for service and refitting. What better time to have your sails checked over than when sailing season is on hiatus.

14.01.2022 Fantastic opportunity for a lucky buyer to own this boat. One of our favourites that's for sure.

12.01.2022 With International Women’s Day upon us again yesterday it’s a good time to catch up on what some of our amazing female skippers have been doing. We had quite a few customer boats participate in the Sydney Harbour Regatta on the weekend with female crew and drivers including Euphoria and Senta. Our very own Tom Hogan joined owner/skipper Zoe Taylor on the new Grace O’Malley in the Caribbean 600 where they placed 14th over the line and Zoe is continuing her amazing efforts in the 40th annual Heineken Regatta in St Maarten, where she has just finished 2nd on a count back. What an amazing effort from an amazing woman! What a privilege to be involved with such inspiring women in our sport! 07.01.2022 With another week of this crazy time passing, let's have a little injection of positivity into our lives. Long time Doyle Sydney customer and personal friend Ian Box sent us some of his highlights for 2019 and what he is doing in the off season to get his XP-44 ToyBox 2 ready for when sailing resumes in 2020. These are his words: "We had one of our best seasons on ToyBox2 and entered the CYCA SOPs series for the first time to ensure we had a pretty full calendar of regular Sa...turday afternoon racing. This served us well as we started the series with a 1st in race 1 and managed to finish in 2nd place in division 1. A great way to start our season. Earlier in the year we planned our campaign for Hamilton Island race week and ordered a suite of new regatta sails with some small design changes from Shane, who has spent some time on the boat and was aware we needed that little bit more power. The new Main, J2, J3 and S1 were a step up on the previous great sails and have given us that power particularly in the lighter airs. While we had hoped for a win in our division having had 2nds and 3rd in past years it was not to be. We finished mid fleet but it was particularly tight IRC racing and in almost all races we were within 30 seconds of top placings, but always seemed to be the boat that just missed the placings. The sailing season back on the Harbour has been very successful and the crew I have now built are super keen, young, strong and fit, and we have developed a really competitive spirit. Over winter I am setting the boat up for the 2020 Sydney to Hobart race and will do Southport as a trial for our Ocean racing planning. Of course, I am also in need of whole lot of new offshore sails, including a 3 reef main and code 0. Working with Shane on the design, furling and reefing systems is a very valuable part of this process and allows for a wholistic view of what the boat needs. The whole experience is focused on making sure we have the right gear for the right job." It is an absolute honor and privilege to work with both you and Trudy on helping to meet your sailing goals and we look forward to making your Hobart 2020 plans come to fruition. Thank you for your kind words Ian.

06.01.2022 We know you are all missing your sailing as much as we are, and with the hopes of a season start becoming more promising by the day, winter is the best time to prepare for it. Now is the time to service your sails and look at what additions are needed to your inventory. We can help you along with a 10% winter discount on RRP of Stratis. Contact us to find out how.
