17.01.2022 Please take a minute to help firefighters with the worsening fire conditions ahead. By looking after the hydrant near your house or work you are helping firefighters in an emergency. Clear the area around hydrants of any grass, vegetation, gardens, rubbish and dirt. Ensure no one parks over a hydrant at any time. ... Hydrants are a valve connection to the water main which allow Firefighters to access a continuous flow of water in a fire emergency. Their fire trucks only carry enough water to make an initial fire attack, so locating and getting a hydrant to work is one of a Firefighters’ priorities.
