25.01.2022 Here at DYO we say YES to love and fully support everyone's right to marry the hunny bunny of their own choosing xxx

24.01.2022 Our customers dad likes Weeties so much she commissioned artist Dawn Tan to paint this cute little watercolour for his birthday. Nom nom...Weeties. As an added bonus this frame looks as though its made of Weeties! win/win

24.01.2022 'As the winter winds litter Melbourne with lonely hearts, the warmth in your eyes swept me into your arms. Was it love or fear of the cold that led us through the night. For every kiss, your beauty trumped my doubt.' Apologies to Mumford and Sons, I got a little romantic back there...this current window is what we make of the colder months ahead. Though the rich colours of Autumn still linger, our landscapes will be a little washed-bones-and-ash-cloth for a bit. But, you know, in a good way. We'd love you to stop by for a proper look. (If you come bearing some kind of delicious hot beverage we'll be ever so grateful!)

24.01.2022 I gotta be honest and say I started off this week feeling a little blue, which probably has everything to do with the chill-some weather conditions (and perhaps a little to do with a boy)...but who can stay blue for long when the blues turn out to be mixed with gold and vermillion, then, go one step further and match your top and runners? You just can't help but smile and be a tad jealous of the lucky recipient of these two lil jewels. Have a great weekend all xxx

21.01.2022 When your clothes and jewellery are on point with the artwork you're framing you just know its going to be a good day! This gorgeous indigenous piece is both vibrant and earthy, framed in a stunning Tasmanian oak canvas frame...she is going home to her lucky owner this weekend...we are totes jealous!

20.01.2022 Our customer’s dad likes Weeties so much she commissioned artist Dawn Tan to paint this cute little watercolour for his birthday. Nom nom...Weeties. As an added bonus this frame looks as though it’s made of Weeties! win/win

19.01.2022 Our little shop is closed today as we bid farewell to our wonderful friend and co-worker, Meridy. Cheers sweetie, bottoms up, we love you! X

16.01.2022 So the guillotine comes down on another year of framing and what a year it's been! Much laughter, so many interesting jobs, and the thing that keeps us going...so many amazing stories. Small stories. Stories from suburbia. Family stories. Individual stories. Stories shared in a space of getting stuff done, a space that smells of freshly cut wood, newly sharpened pencils, coffee and sometimes, freshly baked biscuits. We are so happy people feel comfortable sharing their storie...s in our space. Big thanks to all our sparkling, shiny Do Your Owners without whom our little shop would not thrive. And gratitude to all our old and new customers from 2017 who chose us to be The One for all their framing challenges...come back and see us in 2018, yeah? Love and peaceful holidays to all xxx Staff and Management (Linda and Gwynneth) DYO PICTURE FRAMING

15.01.2022 So I woke up this morning feeling very beneath the weather...on the way to work I bought one of those fancy full-of-vitamins style juices that cost $45 and I’ve just eaten a big juicy orange and realised, as I’m wrapping it, this gorgeous indigenous canvas I stretched earlier is totes giving out some heavy duty orange vitamin vibes too...at this rate, I’ll feel better in no time! What’s that? Oh, the jumper? That was a happy accident #fluseason #orangeyougladyoustoppedby #indigenousart

14.01.2022 Another week done and dusted at the framing emporium. This one is making us want to take it home, with its soothing, restful colours...which just happen to match my boots. #doyourownpictureframing #framingboots #helloweekend

14.01.2022 The old double frame extra large spacer floated Venetian mask trick...its the oldest trick in the book! Darling job for a dear customer who is giving this to her husband as a special anniversary present...she was so happy she almost cried!

13.01.2022 Don't know about you guys, but I feel closer to God after this week...Mmmwah! Give us a kiss you great big hunk of spunk!

13.01.2022 It may be gloomy outdoors today, but its all sunshine, smiles and rainbows here at DYO Framing! YAY! Big love to all!

12.01.2022 Winter conversations...best had rugged up in front of a roaring fire, with your hands wrapped around a steaming mug of hot chocolate. What's that? No hands? Oh...

12.01.2022 This little cutie is going home today...a bicycle made by a small person with clever hands for his mum out of waste materials...kind of an upcycled bicycle I suppose.

11.01.2022 These ethereal, intriguing little peephole style collage studies by Birgit Jordan have brightened our short week considerably. Aren't they devine? Each one tells a compelling story with the minimum of detail...like a perfect visual haiku. If you'd like to see the entire collection, they will be exhibited shortly at Tacit Galleries in Collingwood (check their website for dates/times).

11.01.2022 A lovely girl from the hairdresser next door to us popped in this week to have this mounted photo of her mum framed...the existing mount was very grubby and in need of attention... we cleaned it up...but decided to leave the muddy paw marks made by a beloved kitty cat, because it was so damn cute. This story made us smile.

10.01.2022 Apparently there are some folk hanging out for season 8 of Game of Thrones...? The bad news is, they'll have to wait until 2019. Sad face. The good news is, DYO Framing have decided to cater for the .0005% of the population that don't give a damn and... bring you - Game with Bones on Thrones! ... You can thank us later. In fact, why not thank us in person, swing by with your lovely framing projects and tell us how amaze you think our window is, because, honestly, the photos don't do justice. Oh and everything you can see here is for sale, so we can offer you a chair, we just don't recommend using it for sitting. See you soon! See more

10.01.2022 Josephine began to fidget nervously behind the curtain. The bodice of her frock was a little too tight, her fishnet stockings itchy on her lean dancers legs, her bare arms cold and clammy. Oh when will this interminable yodelling come to an end she thought, picking at her fingernails. As though the spoon player wasn't bad enough. She longed for Jeffery's calming influence...but...he had another partner these days *sigh* she would have to make do with Trevor. #whatsbehindthecurtain #whatshappenimgat1467 #oohahh

09.01.2022 Hello good people! We're officially back from holidays and its birds birds birds as far as the eye can see!Not the kind of bird that catches the early worm though, but the sort of bird that sets the alarm for work the night before, and resets it again three times just to make sure, before realising the next morning when they've woken up at 8am instead of 7am because the alarm was set for a weekend day and not a work day and they have ten minutes to get ready and get out the door, that they might just be more of a lying in until lunchtime kind of a bird...so you know, feel free to pop into the shop with coffee any time because birds like coffee! - glass birds by the lovely Grace Turner You can find her on Instagram @grace9241-

09.01.2022 What a little cutie pie. A teensy piece of Grandma's wedding bouquet, on a tiffany blue back ground.

08.01.2022 If you should ever want your cow bell popped into a frame, we are the people to do it. Mmmmoooooo!!!

07.01.2022 The staff and management at DYO FRAMING wish all of you a happy and safe Easter holiday season. We are closed now for a much needed break with intermittent chocolate scoffing and will be back at the little shop on Wednesday the 4th...and yes, this is a jigsaw thanks for asking, we frame those too. See you in April! X

05.01.2022 See all those tiny little pieces of folded paper...well they're actually hinges made from water activated museum tape. We use these to attach art works to mount board when doing float style framing...one side of the hinge is activated with water and attached to the art, the other half is activated and attached to the mount...its a two step, painstaking process. Last week I had 12 large artworks to attach in this way...each piece had 15 hinges on it...that's 360 activation processes - trust me, I counted! I was seeing hinges in my sleep! This type of attachment means the work will maintain its integrity and be totally reversible if it is ever re-framed. #crosseyed #repetitivemuch #museumhinges

04.01.2022 People often ask us if we stretch canvas's, well the answer is yes! We certainly do! And by stretch we don't mean that this canvas started off an A4 size and we turned it into a 2metre by 1.2metre size because that would be just silly...this one was very large to begin with when purchased in Cambodia and as the lady couldn't possibly fit it in the overhead compartment no matter how far her tray table was pushed in, she brought it into the country off the frame and rolled up and that's where we came in. I've stretched this back onto stretcher bar before making another frame to go around the outside. But wait - there were two of them! As a side note, I can now probably build someone a three bedroom holiday house.

02.01.2022 At 1.4m by over 2 metres, 'Gloria' is not only gigantic, but utterly glorious! Such a joy to have her finished. We are jealous of her owner and hope his clothing matches her at all times...though, obviously, this is optional.

01.01.2022 We're a bit chuffed with this one! Beautiful, very old, very thread bare much treasured family heirloom rug...sewn expertly by our resident seamstress...after many days of sewing, followed by more sewing, preceding days of colour matched painting - she is done! Measuring almost 2 metres by 1.5, it will be quite the statement/museum piece on the wall. #phew #allinadayswork #bleedingfingers
