14.01.2022 ABOUT ME Growing up in the township of Alice Springs, I started out racing BMX from the age of 8 until 16 and competing in mini triathlons, duathlons and road racing. There my passion for cycling led me to mounting biking. Riding in events that traversed over 2000kms from Alice Springs to Cairns. Adelaide to Port Douglas. Vittoria Spain through parts of the Pyraneise. Cairo Egypt, over blinding windswept deserts and along the Nile; to traversing the Simpson Desert along th...e Rig Road from Purni Bore to Birdsville. Riding through white capped peaks of the Swiss Alps. Without the bike I don't think I would have ever thought of venturing to different points of the globe. Wanting to share my love for mountain biking, I created the Central Australian Bike Challenge. Better known today as The Redback. A 5 day mountain bike stage race around Alice Springs. Not only dedicated to the love of two wheels. I also roped a good friend of mine into running a pedicab business operating on weekends transporting tourists and locals around the township of Alice. I sometimes think that my life is 'All About The Bike'. I love the sound of cleats clicking in at the beginning of a road race. The whirring of a Chris King hub coasting. The sound of a bmx over a jump made of bricks and plywood, or a child with a card attached by a peg in the rear wheel. Each morning whilst commuting to work I would pass a guy cycling from the opposite direction. We haven't spoken but I wave, and my gesture is returned. I don't know if he shares the same feelings but I anticipate the sighting each day at around the same part of the trip and think, Here's my mate again. We probably have walked past each other a number of times in the street but have failed to recognise each other because of the absence of the bike. It is like being part of a chapter. A group. A lifestyle. A bike is probably the most common item found in almost every shed or storeroom around the country and to many of us, we wouldn't be complete without our bikes. So is the dream now being reality of being able to help people to love the passion that I have for so long by keeping their bikes running like clockwork and giving them the freedom of what a bike does so simply.

06.01.2022 Frequently Asked Questions - Why a mobile mechanic? I started his business to help people who find it difficult getting their bikes to their local bike shop. The elderly who have downsized or don't have a vehicle. Large families who simply cannot get all bikes to the shop. Workers who are time strapped and cannot fit in a trip to the bike shop in working hours and those who live out of town and do not have a bike shop close by. - Should I purchase on the internet or the l...ocal bike shop? I will always provide you with independent advice and will direct you to try both, the local bike shops and give you a list of reputable websites. - How long does a service take? A basic service is generally 1 hour. A major can take up to 3 hours. You will be charged by the job and not by the hour. - Do you only visit Bundaberg residents? I live at Innes Park and travel to all customers within a 25km radius of the Bundaberg CBD. If you live in Agnes Water, Woodgate, Childers, Gin Gin, Biggenden or Mount Perry then there will be a $40 travel fee. - Is all servicing done on site? Most servicing, basic repairs and fittings can be done on site however major over hauls and bad weather may determine if your bike will be taken back to Dr Bikes clinic for a more comfortable work area and returned later in the day. - Do you stock parts? I carry the basics to getting your ride up and running smoothly. Chains, cassettes, grips, cables, bar tape and tubes. Today we are so fortunate to have so many accessories and components that even the biggest retailers are unable to carry all to satisfy everyone. So please ask if you are in need of a particular item and I will assist in ordering or acquiring it. - What I need done does not seem to be on pricing menu? Don't hesitate to call, text or email your enquiry and I will be able to give you a quick reply and quote. - Do I need to book in for a service? Yes please. My goal is to have you on your bike asap however some customers may be an hours drive away so please be patient and we can schedule a time and day. - Do you operate every day? Dr Bike is on call 7 days a week from 7am to 6pm. Please don't hesitate to contact me. - A few of us from the office ride to work. Can you service our bikes there? I sure can simply book in your starting time and delegate somebody to meet me where bikes are parked with any individual requirements. You will also receive a group discount of 10% if more than 3 bikes.
