She started the day in Birth Suite, over the course of the day saw 20 Glow families eagerly awaiting to have their babies, Delivered two babies before lunch. Saw another 5 Glow families for 6 week visits (soooo many baby cuddles). Got vomited on twice (hazard of the job!), Baked a cake for Chrissy Midwife (happily shot her with a confetti gun!) Finished the day with a quick trip to John Flynn Private Hospital... theater ...... Oh then went to a Doctors meeting........ Our Thursday was pretty amazing!!!! 18.01.2022 My job is amazing but sometimes I forget that when I’m immersed in it. But this week reminded me how cool it is. I delivered a baby with the longest umbilical cord I have ever seen. In these pictures the placenta is still inside the mum. The average length of a cord is about 50 - 60cm. 04.01.2022 IMPORTANT HOSPITAL INFORMATION UPDATE From 8 am 29 August 2020 VISITORS ... Due to recently announced cases in Queensland extra restrictions have now been put in place for hospitals. As a precaution, Queenslands Chief Health Officer has recommended visitors should temporarily not be entering hospitals. We understand that many people will want to visit their loves ones in hospital, however we need to make sure we are doing everything we can to protect our patients and health care workers. Exceptions to the no visitor rule will be made on a case-by-case basis. Patients who are children will be allowed one parent/carer and maternity patients will be allowed one support person. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT We are following the advice of Queensland Health and increasing the use of PPE (personal protective equipment). All patients, staff and approved visitors will now be required to wear a mask entering the hospital and must wear it when in public areas of the hospital. Everyone who enters the hospital must undergo temperature screening and complete electronic screening via the QR code scanning system on entry. If patients do not have a smartphone to complete this scanning process, staff on the door will be able to assist them manually by asking them a series of questions. Our staff are available in all entry areas to assist patients. Its really important for us all to play our part in stopping the spread of COVID-19. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your support as we navigate through this time together.
