21.01.2022 Meet Georgi who contracted a kidney infection three years ago, she then started to get constant pain and was diagnosed with Loin Pain Haematuria Syndrome - a ra...re syndrome which has debilitating unilateral or bilateral flank pain. Georgi saw lots of specialists and psychologists to try and get to the bottom of the cause of her pain, then she met Prof Howard Lau (Urologist). Last week Prof Lau and his transplant team performed a robotic autotransplant (the 2nd in Australia) on Georgi's right kidney - on her 23rd birthday. Six days later Georgi is pain free and looking forward to getting on with her life. Just another great example of the amazing work our surgeons do each day at Westmead Private.
